Chapter 405: Chapter 247: Matchmaking

"However, you killed Zhou Tiande."

Hui Hengwu looked at Fang Yue and said, "The people from the Sacrificial Department won’t let this matter rest. What are your plans?"

Fang Yue, however, showed no concern over the killing. Instead, he said, "Zhou Tiande colluded with rebels. He deserved to die!"

A flicker of admiration flashed in Hui Hengwu’s eyes as he looked at Fang Yue.

He knew Fang Yue was a man of courage and decisiveness. Although this incident had caused quite a stir, it wasn’t without a solution.

"Heh, in that case, what you did wasn’t entirely wrong. Is what you said in your previous letter true? You absolutely must not hide anything about this matter, or else not even I will be able to save you!"

Skipping the topic of Zhou Tiande, Hui Hengwu turned to the matter Fang Yue had mentioned in his letter.

His tone was filled with a deep gravity.

The Observatory had been infiltrated by another faction. Furthermore, they intended to subvert the Observatory and stir up turmoil within the Great Wei Dynasty.

The potential threat was even greater than that of the Blood Dragon Platform!

Just hearing about such a thing was horrifying, almost unbelievable.

Therefore, no matter what, there could be no concealment. The whole story had to be told in its entirety.

Fang Yue could feel the weight in Hui Hengwu’s words. He understood the gravity of the situation.

So, he took a deep breath, composed himself, and began to recount in detail the events mentioned in his letter.

"Steward Hui, everything I mentioned in my letter is the absolute truth. Besides using the Blood Dragon Platform’s name as a cover to cause chaos within the Observatory, they’ve also infiltrated Gongzhou Prefecture with the intent of committing treason."

"Furthermore, I discovered that Zhou Tiande was colluding with these rebellious forces. After all, he was the one who attacked me at the end, trying to ambush and kill me."

As Fang Yue spoke, he took out some of the evidence he had obtained from the basement of the Observatory in Gongzhou Prefecture. Of course, he didn’t forget to implicate Zhou Tiande in the process.

’The man is dead anyway. It doesn’t matter if he was actually involved or colluding with them. Right now, if I say he was, he was. If I say he colluded, he colluded!’

As Hui Hengwu listened to Fang Yue’s account and examined the evidence he presented, his expression grew increasingly grim.

He was well aware of the Observatory’s status and importance in the Great Wei Dynasty. If the Observatory were to be subverted, the entire dynasty could be plunged into turmoil.

"This evidence does indeed point to the existence of a rebellious faction within the Observatory."

Hui Hengwu said in a low voice, "This matter cannot be taken lightly. Wait here for me. Wait right here. I will go see the Director myself."

Hui Hengwu was extremely shocked and attached great importance to the information and evidence Fang Yue had provided.

He knew this matter was beyond his authority to handle. It had to be reported immediately to the highest authority in the Observatory—the Director.

Hui Hengwu’s departure left the room in a brief silence. Fang Yue sat where he was, a storm raging in his heart.

He knew the intelligence he had just provided would likely set off a massive uproar.

However, he wasn’t anxious. He simply waited in silence.

It wasn’t that he was looking for trouble; it was that these people had simply gone too far. If they hadn’t come after him time and again, things would never have reached this point.

Time ticked by, second by second, and Fang Yue’s brows slowly began to furrow.

The first rays of dawn began to tear through the curtain of night, but Hui Hengwu still had not returned.

Fang Yue’s heart began to grow heavy. He knew that such a long delay meant things were likely more complicated than he had anticipated.

He stood up, walked to the window, and gazed at the slowly brightening sky outside.

Fang Yue’s brow furrowed. ’Could something have happened to him?’

Just as Fang Yue was growing anxious, the sound of hurried footsteps suddenly came from outside the door.

He immediately turned to look and saw Hui Hengwu walk in, his face etched with exhaustion, followed by several people dressed in Observatory uniforms.

"Steward Hui, you’re finally back!" Fang Yue hurried forward and asked eagerly, "What did the Director say?"

"A step too late!" Hui Hengwu said with a sigh.

Fang Yue’s heart sank instantly. Seeing Hui Hengwu’s grave expression, he knew things might be even more serious than he had imagined.

"A step too late? What do you mean?" Fang Yue asked, trying his best to remain calm.

Hui Hengwu glanced at the Observatory members behind him and signaled for them to wait outside.

Then, he closed the door and windows, ensuring only he and Fang Yue were in the room, before saying in a low voice, "Before I could report the situation to the Director, someone had already beaten me to it."

Fang Yue was stunned for a moment, then his brow furrowed. "Someone told the Director first? What’s going on? Does that mean the Director already knew about the rebellious faction?"

Hui Hengwu nodded, then shook his head. "The Director did indeed receive news that a rebellious faction exists within the Observatory. He’s already begun organizing men to conduct a purge."

"So, this matter no longer concerns you. The warrant for your arrest has also been rescinded. None of this has anything to do with you anymore. The Observatory has decided to give you a three-month leave. Go home. Afterward, you are to head to the northern Gongzhou Prefecture to assume your post."

The Observatory in Gongzhou Prefecture had been infiltrated. With the Director now taking action, a large number of people would certainly be purged, creating vacancies. That was why Fang Yue was being assigned there.

This was a decision from the Observatory’s leadership; even Hui Hengwu could do nothing about it.

"Steward Hui, is it possible for me not to go to Gongzhou Prefecture?" Fang Yue asked after a moment of silence.
