Chapter 724: Chapter 306: Slaughtering in All Directions (Part 2)
Yang Rong’s reckless behavior made him instinctively realize that Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui could only have entered the Immortal King’s Tomb with her help.
Yang Rong was also waiting for the Immortal Fate they held.
In short, he had to capture Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui, even if it meant becoming outright enemies.
"Who dares!"
Yang Rong bellowed.
The colossal phantom in the distance grew more and more solid, as if she were drawing nearer.
The red Flying Sword conjured several Sword Shadows, which appeared beside Chu Lingguang’s carriage. A look of immense joy crossed Chu Lingguang’s face. He quickly spurred the Celestial Horse Ox on again, carrying Guo Wei and Li Qiushui into the Profound Celestial Sect’s territory and heading straight for the main sect.
The members of the Cyan Cloud Sect refused to give up, continuing their pursuit of Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui.
"Courting death!"
Yang Rong was furious.
The red Flying Sword flared with brilliant light as it Thrust toward the white-robed elder. Its blade was now covered in a terrifying Telekinesis—a unique skill of an Alchemy Master.
When a Flying Sword and Telekinesis achieved true resonance, the resulting lethality was something few of the same realm could withstand.
Moreover, the white-robed elder was already severely injured. His Golden Core was unstable, on the verge of shattering at any moment.
She controlled the Flying Sword with all her might, aiming for the white-robed elder’s vital points.
"Yang Rong, are you trying to start a war between our two sects?"
the white-robed elder cried out in terror.
Yang Rong ignored him. She found his words absurd. ’Who was it that brought the fight to another sect’s doorstep, even inciting their subordinates to capture disciples of the Profound Celestial Sect within its own territory?’
Initially, she had only wanted to teach the white-robed elder a lesson.
But seeing him incite his subordinates to continue attacking Chu Lingguang, she finally lost control of her anger. She controlled her Flying Sword, remotely breaking through the white-robed elder’s defenses.
It Thrust into his abdomen.
CRACK!
Countless cracks appeared on the brilliant Golden Core.
Streams of shimmering Spiritual Power shot out from the white-robed elder’s body.
His body also seemed to develop cracks.
"You..."
His eyes widened as he stared in disbelief at the solidifying figure of Yang Rong.
’Yang Rong actually shattered my Golden Core.’
His Spiritual Power drained away completely, turning him into a cripple.
Having lost his Spiritual Power, his body fell toward the forest below. As he plummeted, he aged rapidly, his flesh withering away. By the time his body fell into the forest, it had already become a dried corpse.
Having lost all its weight, the body, still in the process of falling, was caught by a gust of wind and fluttered over the forest canopy like a piece of paper.
Just like that, the white-robed elder was slain by Yang Rong with a single sword strike.
The red Sword Shadow turned back.
It began to pick off the members of the Cyan Cloud Sect one by one.
The first to go was the middle-aged man who had reached the Immortal Dao Foundation Establishment Realm. After seeing the white-robed elder’s gruesome end, he had tried to flee, but he was no match for the speed of Yang Rong’s Flying Sword.
He was quickly struck and killed by the sword.
Torn to shreds by the red sword light, he became nutrients for the forest.
And so, every Cyan Cloud Sect cultivator who had charged into the Profound Celestial Sect’s territory—regardless of whether they had pursued Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui—was torn to shreds by Yang Rong’s red sword light.
By the time these people had been reduced to a rain of blood and vanished completely, Yang Rong’s figure had finally solidified.
Clad in red, she looked like a demoness, standing in the distance and watching as the Celestial Horse Ox brought Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui before her.
"Elder Yang!"
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Chu Lingguang hastily dismounted the carriage and bowed.
"I taught you Magic Techniques for a year and just saved your life, and you’re still calling me Elder?"
Yang Rong said, displeased.
"Ma-Master, I beg you, please save my master."
Chu Lingguang said, bowing again.
Yang Rong frowned. Chu Lingguang’s words sounded very strange, but a sweep of her Spiritual Sense over the Celestial Horse Ox immediately revealed Guo Wei inside.
She already knew that Chu Lingguang had come from Celestial Sea with his master from the mortal world.
This was the first time she had seen Guo Wei.
’A mere Qi Refining Realm cultivation, with perfectly ordinary strength... How could someone like this be Chu Lingguang’s master? But since Chu Lingguang holds him in such high regard, he must have some extraordinary qualities.’
She swept her Spiritual Sense over him.
She saw the injuries to Guo Wei’s internal organs.
She couldn’t help but say, "He’s beyond saving."
"That can’t be! Your Magical Power is boundless. How could you possibly not be able to save him?"
Chu Lingguang refused to believe it.
He knelt in mid-air.
"His injuries were inflicted by a Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator. The Spiritual Power is of a different grade. It’s a miracle he has survived this long. Forget me, not even a Nascent Soul Strong Person could save... him!"
Yang Rong said with a grave expression.
"Th-then... if even you can’t do anything, does that mean..."
Chu Lingguang’s face was a mask of despair.
"Lin Guang, life and death are ruled by fate. There’s no need to feel sorry for me."
Guo Wei walked out of the carriage.
He cupped his fists toward Yang Rong and said, "Elder Yang, I will leave Lin Guang in your care from now on."
Yang Rong was slightly taken aback.
She knew this was an entrustment.
From anyone else, she wouldn’t have given it a second thought, not even sparing them a glance. But Guo Wei’s current role was like that of Chu Lingguang’s guardian, which gave his words profound meaning.
So she nodded, cupped her fists, and said, "You may go in peace."
"My master isn’t dying yet! He hasn’t even gone back to Celestial Sea to see his family!"
Chu Lingguang corrected.
"In his current state, how could he possibly make it back?"
Yang Rong snorted.
"If I can’t go back, then so be it."
Guo Wei said with a smile.
"Master, I will definitely take you back."
Chu Lingguang said solemnly.
’Even if I can’t save Guo Wei, I have to at least get him back to Celestial Sea for one last trip, to let him see Guo Fang and the others one last time.’
"I can help you with that. But first, you have to tell me why the Cyan Cloud Sect was chasing you like they wanted to eat you alive."
Yang Rong said.
’She had long since sensed that something was amiss.’
The Cyan Cloud Sect and the Profound Celestial Sect had always had their conflicts, but a situation like today’s—where an elder personally led a group in pursuit, chasing them into Profound Celestial Sect territory just to capture Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui—had not happened in many years.
Their reckless behavior made her realize that this was no simple matter; perhaps it involved something terrifying.
"We were being chased by a Nine-headed Bird in a perilous region and, in our confusion, we stumbled into the Immortal King’s Tomb. We ran into people from the Cyan Cloud Sect inside. We finally managed to shake them, but I never expected them to be so crazy as to intercept us right inside our own territory."
Chu Lingguang didn’t hide anything.
Yang Rong had saved him and Li Qiushui; the debt of gratitude was too great.
Besides, she had killed the white-robed elder for him. If he didn’t explain the situation clearly, it would be difficult for her to answer to the Profound Celestial Sect.
"What did you say?"
Yang Rong was dumbfounded.
Although she had a fiery temper and was often lecturing people, when she heard the words "Immortal King’s Tomb"—and especially when she learned that Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui had actually gone inside and come out unscathed—her expression was like that of a young girl meeting her first love.
"Elder Yang, this matter is a bit bizarre, but what Chu Lingguang said is true. We really did stumble into the Immortal King’s Tomb in a daze. We saw members of the Cyan Cloud Sect inside, and we made it out safely. And it wasn’t just us; the Cyan Cloud Sect members also got out. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to intercept us here."
Li Qiushui knew the importance of the Immortal King’s Tomb and explained patiently.
"No wonder Bai Xiong was so frantic."
It dawned on Yang Rong.
But she still stared at Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui with a look of utter disbelief.
Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui both realized that the white-robed elder whose Golden Core had just been pierced by Yang Rong’s sword, causing his Spiritual Power to collapse and resulting in his death, was named Bai Xiong.
"Elder Yang, I feel like something might have changed with the Immortal King’s Tomb. At the very least, it’s not as dangerous as it used to be. Otherwise, the people from the Cyan Cloud Sect couldn’t have gotten in and out, and neither could Chu Lingguang and I."
Li Qiushui pointed out.
"Tell me everything that happened inside, in detail."
Yang Rong was also extremely curious and passionate about the Immortal King’s Tomb.
So Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui immediately recounted everything they had seen inside the Immortal King’s Tomb to Yang Rong in detail.
This included the scene where the two of them wiped the Guardians’ Spiritual Positions and crossed the plaza.
Of course, Chu Lingguang did not go into detail about gaining Favor Points, or how he was only able to kill Venerable Changxu thanks to a reminder from the Nascent Soul Ghosts.
But when she learned that the two of them had worked together to kill Elder Longxiu, whose Golden Core was on the verge of collapse, she was still utterly shocked.
"This matter is of great importance. You two must explain it to the Sect Leader personally."
Yang Rong said gravely.
"What about my master?"
Chu Lingguang hadn’t forgotten Guo Wei.
"Although we can’t save him, the sect can certainly manage to let him live a while longer and help him return to Celestial Sea. Of course... if we can enter the Immortal King’s Tomb and find some priceless treasures, perhaps he could live for a few more years."
Yang Rong said meaningfully.
"Really, Elder Yang!?"
Upon hearing this, Chu Lingguang’s face lit up with joy. He suddenly realized—it was the tomb of an Immortal King! How could it not contain a treasure capable of bringing Guo Wei back from the brink of death?
