Chapter 712: Chapter 300: Favor Points from the Nascent Soul Ghosts

"Senior Sister, what happened to your face?"

Chu Lingguang asked.

"We got in by a stroke of luck, but it seems the people from the Cyan Cloud Sect know the way in."

Li Qiushui deliberately changed the subject.

Just then, the two of them detected waves of Spiritual Sense Fluctuations surging toward them. The experts from the Cyan Cloud Sect were trying to probe the area around the plaza. Fortunately, the palace section where Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui were hiding seemed to have an Array blocking Spiritual Sense probes.

Even Telekinesis couldn’t penetrate it.

Hiding in the palace, Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui remained undiscovered.

"There must be incredible treasures inside this tomb," Chu Lingguang said.

"Obviously. If you could obtain even a sliver of the opportunities within an Immortal King’s Tomb, you could ascend to immortality," Li Qiushui retorted.

"Even our Profound Celestial Sect doesn’t know how to enter the Immortal King’s Tomb, yet the Cyan Cloud Sect somehow does."

Chu Lingguang looked curious.

"This place is strange. We can’t touch anything in the tomb rashly. We shouldn’t act recklessly; let’s find a way out."

Li Qiushui knew her own limits.

Even after entering the Immortal King’s Tomb, she didn’t dare to harbor any improper ideas.

Far too many people had died in the Immortal King’s Tomb.

She had felt uneasy ever since they arrived.

Seeing the people from the Cyan Cloud Sect arrive made her even more nervous. She was worried they might trigger a restriction in the tomb and drag her and Chu Lingguang down with them.

As a newbie to the cultivation world, Chu Lingguang could only follow Li Qiushui’s lead.

So, as the people from the Cyan Cloud Sect entered the plaza and walked toward the stone statues facing them, Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui skirted around inside the palace.

They were trying to bypass them and leave the Immortal King’s Tomb through the same entrance they had used.

Just then, Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui came upon a room with its doors wide open.

Inside the room were rows upon rows of Spiritual Positions.

The Spiritual Positions were in disarray, some having even fallen to the ground. A musty, decaying smell hung in the air, and cobwebs were everywhere.

"These... are the Spiritual Positions of the Immortal King’s Tomb’s Guardians."

Li Qiushui was captivated.

She recognized the ancient script inside the room.

She could tell that the Spiritual Positions placed in this room all belonged to the Guardians of the Immortal King’s Tomb. They contained information about their identities, the dates they died in the tomb, and even records of many events that had occurred here.

"’Five hundred years ago, slayed two Nascent Soul Strong Persons bare-handed, and hung their skulls at the entrance to the tomb.’"

’Hung at the entrance to the tomb?’

Li Qiushui read the text, recalling the records from her sect.

"Those two Nascent Soul Strong Persons were ancestors of the Cyan Cloud Sect."

"My master once said that five hundred years ago, the Cyan Cloud Sect’s foundation was far deeper than our Profound Celestial Sect’s. The reason for their subsequent decline was their coveting of the opportunities in the Immortal King’s Tomb."

"Back then, all the cultivators in Great Qin treated the Immortal King’s Tomb like a treasure trove of opportunities, much like how you cultivators from the Celestial Sea flock to the Spiritual Power of the Tree Vine Demon."

"Countless people were buried in the Immortal King’s Tomb, and our Profound Celestial Sect also lost a group of experts."

"It’s said that the Sect Leader of the Cyan Cloud Sect and a Supreme Elder from our Profound Celestial Sect both failed to escape the Stone Forest," Li Qiushui said, unable to help herself.

She was mesmerized by the text in the room.

"The owners of these Spiritual Positions... they basically all died in that battle five hundred years ago."

"No wonder I didn’t recognize the Stone Forest as a Restriction Array of the Immortal King’s Tomb at first. So much time has passed. People have probably forgotten how many were lost in this tomb five hundred years ago."

"The people from the Cyan Cloud Sect are far too bold."

As Li Qiushui recalled the records and read the words on the room’s walls, it was as if she could see the events of five hundred years ago, watching as countless Great Powers were torn to shreds by the Guardians of the Immortal King’s Tomb.

"Guardians of the tomb?"

"Senior Sister, could there still be other Guardians here?" Chu Lingguang asked hastily.

So many experts had come in and died in the tomb. This place was truly dangerous. It would be best for him and Li Qiushui to leave as soon as possible.

"I don’t think so. Otherwise, this place wouldn’t be so unkempt. But the Restriction Arrays inside the tomb are still active. The level of danger here is definitely higher than in the Stone Forest. We have to go, quickly."

Li Qiushui remained very rational.

She wasn’t tempted by the opportunities in the tomb, nor did she overestimate herself and think she could obtain any of them.

"Then let’s go, quickly."

Chu Lingguang felt the same way.

They had entered the Immortal King’s Tomb by accident; he didn’t dare to harbor any fantasies about the place.

But just as the two were about to leave the decaying room filled with Spiritual Positions, Chu Lingguang noticed two of them had fallen on the floor at some point.

Thinking that the dead deserve respect...

And feeling that he had disturbed their peace, he bent down, picked up the two Spiritual Positions, wiped off the cobwebs, and returned them to their original spots according to the markings on them.

Li Qiushui watched silently. She didn’t stop Chu Lingguang, nor did she think he was doing anything wrong. It was good to show reverence for the dead, especially for Guardians of the Immortal King’s Tomb. The inscriptions on their Spiritual Positions stated that they had reached Nascent Soul Great Success before their deaths and had jointly killed two waves of invaders.

To them, who were only in the Qi Refining realm, beings like that were absolute Great Powers, not to be provoked lightly.

"Righting the Spiritual Positions for two Nascent Soul Ghosts has earned you 290,113 Favor Points."

"You have also received the gratitude of the two Nascent Soul Ghosts and obtained one copy of the Immortal Slaying Sword Technique."

But just then, two lines of text appeared before Chu Lingguang’s eyes.

The words struck him like a bolt of lightning. He stopped in his tracks, unable to resist looking back at the rows of Spiritual Positions behind him.

’They’re not dead?’

’No, they became ghosts?’

’The Immortal King’s Tomb is truly extraordinary. Or perhaps its master allowed their spirits to linger so they could continue to guard this tomb,’ Chu Lingguang thought to himself.

As he was thinking, he felt two streams of Spiritual Power rise up from the floorboards.

At that moment, his Cultivation Realm actually advanced from the ninth layer of Qi Refining to the tenth. This was the two Nascent Soul Ghosts’ way of thanking him.

"What’s wrong with you? Why are you just standing there? Let’s go!"

Li Qiushui urged him on. She instinctively reached out to grab his hand and pull him away, but her hand stopped mid-air before she quickly drew it back.

She hadn’t yet noticed the change in Chu Lingguang’s cultivation.

Their power levels were drawing closer.

She was at the twelfth layer of Qi Refining, while Chu Lingguang was now at the tenth. Given Chu Lingguang’s solid foundation and rank-five Telekinesis, Li Qiushui couldn’t tell his strength had increased with a simple glance; she would have to use her Spiritual Sense to probe him, or her own power would need to far surpass his.

"Senior Sister, we entered this tomb by chance, so you could say we have some affinity with this place. It’s covered in cobwebs and completely dilapidated. Before we go, why don’t we clean it up a bit?" Chu Lingguang suggested.

"Are you out of your mind?"

Li Qiushui thought Chu Lingguang had lost his mind. The people from the Cyan Cloud Sect would be here soon. If they didn’t leave and were discovered, even if they weren’t devoured by the Restriction Arrays in the Immortal King’s Tomb, they would be killed by the Cyan Cloud Sect.

"Senior Sister, you may not know this, but I have a tradition in my hometown: enter every temple, bow to every buddha. The dead must be shown the greatest respect. Since we were fortunate enough to encounter them, we might as well create some good karma. Think of it as us begging their forgiveness for trespassing," Chu Lingguang said with a serious expression.

"You... I’m afraid we don’t have time."

Seeing Chu Lingguang’s earnest expression as he actually pulled a piece of cloth from his robes, Li Qiushui couldn’t help but remind him.

"There’s enough time. Just listen to me, Senior Sister. Help me clean up!"

Chu Lingguang tore the cloth into two pieces and tossed one to Li Qiushui. Before starting, he even ceremoniously kowtowed and bowed to the Spiritual Positions.

He prayed with a solemn face, "This junior, Chu Lingguang, meant no offense to you Immortal Masters. Please forgive any disturbance!"

Li Qiushui was speechless.

Then she watched as Chu Lingguang cleared away the cobwebs in the room, used his strip of cloth to wipe every Spiritual Position, and arranged the toppled ones neatly.

Furthermore, after wiping each Spiritual Position and setting it down, he would press his palms together and bow to it respectfully.

’He must be seeing ghosts!’

’Fine, I’ll go along with him for now. The sooner we finish cleaning, the sooner we can leave!’

Seeing Chu Lingguang’s resolute attitude, Li Qiushui could only comply, hoping they could finish cleaning quickly and get far away from this place.
