Eternal Life by Daily Divination
Chapter 818 - 370: Good Deeds Are Rewarded, the Awakened Ancient One
Deep within the Spirit Cloud Mountain Range, a vast expanse of white mist lingered. Li Chang’an descended from the sky, landing amidst desolate, ancient ruins. This was the very site of the Ancient Hundred Weapons Sect’s ruins.
As far as the eye could see, collapsed halls and pavilions lay scattered everywhere. An overwhelming sense of decay and the vicissitudes of time washed over him. Many Cultivators were Treasure Hunting in these newly emerged ruins, their excited voices ringing out from time to time.
"Haha, it’s an inheritance—an Artifact Refining inheritance! I can finally learn a skill!" A Foundation Establishment Cultivator was flushed with excitement, tightly clutching a Jade Scroll in his hand. Beside him, several others looked on with envy, chiming in to offer their congratulations.
Li Chang’an instantly appeared beside the man and asked, "Little friend, what tier of inheritance did you obtain?"
"Greetings, Senior!" The group hastily bowed, a flash of unease crossing their faces. Though reluctant, the Foundation Establishment Cultivator had no choice but to offer up the Jade Scroll. "To answer Senior, this junior obtained a Tier Three Low Grade Artifact Refining inheritance."
"Let me take a look." Li Chang’an took the Jade Scroll and sent his Divine Sense into it for a brief inspection. It was indeed a Tier Three Low Grade Artifact Refining inheritance. The man had found it in a Storage Pouch belonging to the decayed corpse of a Hundred Weapons Sect disciple. Li Chang’an returned the Jade Scroll and vanished in the blink of an eye, heading deeper into the ruins.
The group collectively breathed a sigh of relief.
"That was close. I thought that Senior was a Tribulation Cultivator planning to rob us of our Treasures." With expressions of relief, they hurriedly left the area.
Meanwhile, Li Chang’an continued his trek deeper into the ruins. Along the way, he discovered over ten corpses of Hundred Weapons Sect disciples. From three of them, he obtained Artifact Refining inheritances, though their Tiers were not particularly high. The highest among them was merely Tier Three Middle Grade.
Before long, Li Chang’an approached the core area of the ruins. Before him stood a massive Array, shaped like an inverted giant bowl, firmly protecting the entire core of the ruins. Through the Array, he could vaguely make out the core area—another scene of desolate ruin.
"If the Hundred Weapons Sect was destroyed during the great calamity, why does this Array still exist? Could someone from a later generation have repaired it?" Li Chang’an wondered as he stood before the Array, deep in thought. While it was possible for ordinary Arrays in other areas to survive, the Sect’s core would have undoubtedly been the primary target of the enemy’s attacks. The Array here shouldn’t have survived.
Just as the intelligence had indicated, the Tier of this Array was far beyond Tier Four Low Grade. With his current strength, he was completely incapable of breaking the Array.
His figure flickered continuously as he observed his surroundings, gradually forming a judgment in his mind. "I can only understand a small portion of its layout. This Array is at least Tier Four Top Grade, or perhaps even a Quasi-Fifth Tier Array."
The possibility of it being Quasi-Tier Five was very high. Despite being battered and broken over the long passage of time, it still possessed the power of a Quasi-Fifth Tier Array. In the Ancient Era, when it was fully intact, it had likely been a true Tier Five Array!
"The Array Spirit of this Array should still be around. Perhaps it was the one that repaired the Array," he reasoned.
With this thought in mind, Li Chang’an looked at the Core Disciple Token in his hand. Entering a Grand Array that still housed an Array Spirit was somewhat risky for him. He stood outside, quietly waiting for his Divination to appear.
Soon, Midnight arrived. A streak of golden light surfaced before his eyes.
[Divination has refreshed.]
[Today’s Divination: Auspicious.]
[You enter the core area of the Ancient Hundred Weapons Sect for Treasure Hunting and unexpectedly save the disciple of a Tier Four Artifact Refining Grandmaster. You earn the Grandmaster’s gratitude and obtain a Tier Four Refining Inheritance from them.]
"Oh? So I get a Treasure by saving someone," Li Chang’an remarked in surprise.
He had originally planned to find the Hundred Weapons Sect’s Library Pavilion, as well as the Cultivation Dojos and seclusion chambers of important figures, in an attempt to secure a Tier Four Refining Inheritance. He hadn’t expected to obtain it in such a manner.
"I suppose good deeds are rewarded after all," Li Chang’an said with a smile, his mood lifting significantly. This trip had definitely been the right choice. Although the process was different from what he had envisioned, the result was the same. As long as he got the Tier Four Refining Inheritance, all was well!
"The plan remains unchanged. I’ll explore slowly as originally intended; perhaps I’ll reap even more rewards." Holding the token, Li Chang’an took a step into the Grand Array.
At that exact moment, an indifferent voice echoed in his ears. "Core Disciple. Entry permitted."
In the next instant, he found himself inside the Array. Li Chang’an looked up at the Grand Array enveloping the entire core area, then cautiously ventured deeper, spreading out his Divine Sense to search carefully.
It didn’t take long for him to come across the corpse of a Hundred Weapons Sect disciple.
"There are quite a few Tier Three Refining Treasures in this person’s Storage Pouch. They must have been a Tier Three Refiner in life." Li Chang’an rummaged through the Storage Pouch beside the corpse and found a Tier Three Top Grade Refining Inheritance. After a brief glance, he tossed it into the corner of his own Storage Pouch and continued his search for other Treasures.
Several minutes later, Li Chang’an entered a Tier Three Cultivation Dojo and opened the cave dwelling. Inside the cave dwelling, he found some ordinary Artifact Refining Materials and cultivation insights.
"The ideas in this Artifact Refining insight are actually quite good. I can borrow some of these clever concepts," Li Chang’an muttered, nodding slightly with a Jade Scroll in his hand.
A moment later, he left the area to continue searching for other cultivation cave dwellings. All the while, he kept an eye out for any locations that might be a Treasure Vault or Library.
Over the next half an hour, Li Chang’an successively opened over a dozen cave dwellings, almost all of which had once belonged to practicing Golden Core Cultivators. Although he didn’t find any Tier Four Refining Inheritances or Tier Four Treasures, some of the Artifact Refining insights made the trip worthwhile.
A while later, he entered yet another cave dwelling. He picked up a Jade Scroll left behind inside, assuming it contained some kind of insight.
