Eternal Life Begins with Learning
Chapter 564 - 510: Clueless, Even in Death
Chapter 564: Chapter 510: Clueless, Even in Death
The scene of carnage unfolded on the projection screen.
The hall fell silent. Everyone seemed too stunned to react, staring blankly at the flickering projection.
On the screen, Chu Mu hovered in mid-air, the Ancient Tower floating above his head as nine dragons coiled protectively around him. The terrifying might he displayed by slaying the Tier Three Late Stage Flood Dragon sent an inexplicable chill down everyone’s spine, even though they were only watching a projection.
They had witnessed that sharp glint with their own eyes, to say nothing of the fact that it was the sharpness of such an elusive Sword Intent!
If they were in his shoes, thinking they had escaped death time and again, only to be plunged back into one life-or-death crisis after another...
Caught in such a chain of events, they too would have inevitably met their demise.
"We can’t let this man run rampant. Cangnan, Cang Yu, the two of you go and reinforce them at once!"
The silence lasted but a moment. Standing before the projection screen and coordinating the overall situation, Qing Ling spoke after a moment of thought.
"Also, immediately record all of this man’s techniques and transmit the footage to all of our clan’s cultivators in the city."
"Cang Wu, mobilize the power of the Five Elements Formation. If that puppet of his appears again, immediately lock down the space and drag it into the Spatial Turbulence."
"That special Domain Field he just used, if I’m not mistaken, must be the legendary Domain. Domains are also spatial abilities. If he uses it again, mobilize the power of the Five Elements Formation and see if you can interfere with it, or even break it."
"Also, about his Nine Dragon Divine Flame Tower..."
Qing Ling methodically issued his orders. As a series of sound transmissions crisscrossed the air, the Chen Family and Overlord Saber Alliance cultivators throughout the city began to move, all centered on the Celestial Eagle Pavilion.
Several Golden Core Cultivators accepted their orders and flew off in Chu Mu’s direction.
The Chen Family cultivators fighting across the city also began adjusting their deployments, seeking to further squeeze the operational space of the various rebellious factions.
Within the Celestial Eagle Pavilion, the cultivators who had been on standby as a contingency force swarmed out. Led by several Golden Core Cultivators, they sped toward the areas where the other factions were wreaking havoc, ready to provide support.
At the same time, the Chain Array enveloping the city began to shift. As its Array Prohibitions flowed, it subtly began to close in on Chu Mu’s position.
After years of secret plotting and preparation, it was clear that no matter how the situation in Bazhou City changed, the Chen Family still held an overwhelming advantage.
And when even a fraction of this city-wide stratagem was turned against Chu Mu, the pressure was as terrifying as a mountain crashing down on him.
Surrounded by several Golden Core Cultivators, Chu Mu’s moment of ease was short-lived as he was plunged into an unprecedentedly arduous battle.
Here, there were only two Golden Core masters: himself and the Extreme Yin True Master. But counting the Flood Dragon he had just slain, the Chen Family had now sent a total of six Golden Core level combatants to surround them!
The Extreme Yin True Master was already severely wounded; a single Early Stage Golden Core Cultivator from the Chen Family was enough to keep him completely pinned down.
That left him to face five Golden Core Cultivators of the same realm all by himself.
If that were all, it wouldn’t have been too much pressure for Chu Mu, not with his Corpse Puppet and Wangcai to help.
After all, the Corpse Puppet alone, with its terrifying body that was said to be invincible below the Nascent Soul Realm, was enough to leave these Chen Family cultivators staring helplessly.
But clearly, having learned their lesson from the Flood Dragon’s demise, the Chen Family hadn’t just sent Golden Core Cultivators to surround and kill him; they had also prepared countermeasures for his various techniques.
His Great Sun True Flame was terrifying, so among the six Chen Family Golden Cores who had gathered, three were Water Attribute cultivators. One of them even possessed the renowned Water Attribute treasure, the supremely yin and pure Profound Yin Sunflower Water!
Water and fire are natural opposites.
The supremely yin and pure Profound Yin Sunflower Water and the Great Sun True Flame of Supreme Yang and Firmness were practically perfect counters to one another.
To counter the spatial suppression of his Nine Dragon Prison Suppression Tower, they used the Five Elements Formation to constantly roil the surrounding space. As a result, whenever he tried to use its suppressive lockdown, the effect was instantly rendered unstable and on the verge of collapse.
In such chaotic space, though the razor-sharp edge of his Sword Intent was not diminished in the slightest, his mastery over his Domain was undoubtedly weakened significantly.
With such deliberate counters targeting him, nearly half of his arsenal of techniques was rendered useless!
A desperate struggle!
From the moment he slew the Flood Dragon, he was thrown into an unprecedentedly grueling battle. Nearly every move he made was met with a specific counter.
It was as if he were trapped in a cage, shackled at every turn!
The only silver lining, perhaps, was that Chu Mu’s appearance had stirred up the storm and tied down several of the Chen Family’s Golden Core masters. This gave the other factions, who were being frantically besieged by the Chen Family, a moment to catch their breath.
But soon, as the Chen Family adjusted their deployments further, the situation, which had briefly eased due to the wild card that was Chu Mu, instantly became white-hot once more.
Both sides had descended into a complete frenzy, fighting for every single second.
For the Chen Family, years of painstaking planning and their legacy of tens of thousands of years were at stake!
Every second they saved in suppressing the other factions increased their chances of bringing the chaotic situation back under control.
For the other factions, from the lofty Nascent Soul Ancestors and Golden Core True Masters down to the lowest-tier Qi Cultivation Realm Cultivators, it was a matter of life and death.
If they couldn’t break out of this trap, if they couldn’t shatter this array, their fate was sealed. Everything would be lost!
The more bloodshed, the greater the chance of breaking the array. The greater the chance of a breakthrough, the greater the hope of survival!
Even those who cherished their lives most were driven to a fearless madness in this situation!
As for Chu Mu, he could no longer spare any of this a single thought.
The siege by several Golden Core masters and the targeted countermeasures from all sides already had him struggling to cope. He had no strength to spare for what was happening in the outside world.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The sky-shaking roars seemed endless. For miles around, it was hard to find a single intact building. Dust and earth churned through the air. Amidst the rubble, every clash in the ongoing Battle could devastate an area hundreds or even thousands of meters wide.
For Low Tier Cultivators, even the faintest wisps of the aftershocks were utterly lethal.
Looking down from the sky, after just over an hour of chaos, the entirety of Bazhou City was a pockmarked landscape of utter devastation. Only the four city walls, protected by the Grand Array, remained intact.
Both sides fought madly for their goals. Only the Loose Cultivators from All Over the World, who were destined to be nothing more than cannon fodder, were still fleeing in constant terror.
Then, caught in the desperate slaughter of the warring factions, their bodies would erupt into Blood Qi, which was then devoured by the Blood Evil Array, accumulating bit by bit the power needed to break the formation.
None of them could understand why the grand millennial celebration had devolved into a situation where two opposing sides were slaughtering them like madmen.
Even in death, they would never understand...
