Chapter 126: Chapter 126- The Evolution.

As Tina looked at the notification confirming the conversion, the required gold had already been deducted from Leo’s inventory.

The dark crystal suspended above the altar began pulsing with fierce purple light. High above the temple, a phantom skeleton army manifested out of nothing. Everyone froze, stunned by the sudden display.

Then a sword flashed through the ranks of skeletons as a shadowy swordsman figure cut them down one by one, absorbing the essence of each fallen skeleton as it went. Every figure in the vision was formed from pure shadow, yet the swordsman’s eyes glowed with unmistakable purple light throughout.

Inside the temple, streams of dark purple-black energy poured continuously from the crystal, gathering around the altar and growing denser with every passing second. Once the concentration reached a critical threshold, it surged forward all at once and enveloped Tina completely in thick, swirling mist.

[Undead Essence Conversion — Complete.]

[Undead Essence — Formed.]

[Beginning Class Conversion.]

Tina felt pressure building rapidly inside her own body, a sensation so intense she genuinely believed she might burst apart from the inside.

"Ah—"

She staggered, both hands clutching at her stomach as though it were about to rupture, her qi churning violently within her core.

Her entire body began to swell faintly under the sheer density of energy gathering inside her.

Only Leo could actually see what was happening within the temple. He instinctively started to move toward her, but the guardian quickly reassured him. "She’ll be fine. This is simply part of the process. Undead mana is never easy to handle, even for someone properly compatible with it."

The guardian’s voice carried genuine confidence, but privately, she couldn’t shake the growing feeling that something wasn’t right. This level of pain... she shouldn’t be suffering this level of pain for a Rare class.

Tina’s Swordsman class reacted on its own, qi surging violently through her meridians — qi that had always run unusually dense, even before any of this began.

Now, with undead essence flooding into that same flow, the two forces collided head-on, resisting each other fiercely and turning her body into a battleground. White qi crashed against the purple-black undead essence, sending shockwaves rippling through every part of her.

Just as the guardian moved to intervene directly, something genuinely shocking happened instead.

The white qi began shifting color — first fading to gray, then deepening into purple, and finally settling into black.

That black qi spread steadily through her meridians, growing purer and denser than it had ever been before, as the undead essence fully assimilated into her own qi rather than continuing to fight it.

This was never supposed to happen. The guardian stared at Tina’s transformation in open shock.

Tina’s meridians expanded rapidly, her bones cracking audibly as her muscles tightened around them. Faint undead runic markings began carving themselves directly into her bones, one after another.

She felt another wave of unbearable pain wash through her.

A notification appeared before her eyes shortly after.

[Ding~]

[Abnormal reaction detected.]

[Existing Qi Foundation — Extremely High Compatibility.]

[Undead Essence — Successfully entering Qi circulation.]

[Qi Attribute Transformation — Initiated.]

The guardian’s eyes went wide.

"Impossible," she said.

Her sudden outburst startled everyone watching. "What happened?" Leo asked immediately.

Rook and the rest of his disciples had clear worry etched across their faces as well.

"This girl may only carry average affinity with the undead itself," the guardian explained, "but she’s an exceptionally rare talent when it comes to qi. Because of that raw talent, her entire body is undergoing a metamorphosis right now."

She’d barely finished the sentence when—

Boom.....

A massive surge of dark energy exploded outward from Tina’s body. The entire temple shook violently, and the chamber around it groaned under the sudden pressure. Even the skeletal statues guarding the temple’s entrance trembled.

Inside, Tina’s hair lifted into the air as if caught by a rising wind, and her sword began vibrating with increasing intensity.

She stood at the very center of the temple as sword qi — something she’d never once managed to fully manifest before — burst into visible existence around her.

[Ding~]

[Qi Foundation — Overwhelmingly Compatible.]

[Undead Energy — Successfully Integrated.]

[Swordsman Foundation — Successfully Integrated.]

[Necromantic Resonance — Integrated.]

[Qi Attribute Transformation — Successful.]

[Body Adaptation — Successful.]

[Class Metamorphosis — Detected.]

Leo could see the same notification panel scrolling in front of him. The guardian had already warned him she was undergoing metamorphosis, and now the system itself confirmed it in plain terms.

The system continued.

[Ding~]

[Original Class — Swordsman.]

[Compatible Undead Class — Necrotic Swordsman.]

[Integration Compatibility — Extremely High.]

[Class Evolution Process — Accelerated.]

The guardian watched the progression unfold with sharp, focused eyes.

"Is this normal?" Leo asked.

She shook her head firmly. "No. This is an exceptional case..... Her overwhelming affinity for qi caused it to naturally attune itself into undead-aligned death qi, and that process, in turn, caused her latent undead affinity to skyrocket well beyond expectation. Her current affinity for the undead is even comparable to my own."

Leo and the rest of the group stood stunned by that admission.

Inside the temple, dark death qi and undead essence continued surging together, and the crystal poured out even more undead essence in response, all of it slowly channeling through the sword Tina gripped, flowing from the blade directly into her body.

A giant skeletal figure wielding a massive sword manifested within the temple, its hollow eyes glowing with pale white light as it regarded Tina. Slowly, deliberately, it lowered its sword, almost as though kneeling before her in quiet acknowledgment.

[Ding~]

[Qi-Sword Resonance — Established.]

[Undead-Sword Resonance — Established.]

[Necromantic Qi — Formed.]

[Three-Path Integration — Successful.]

The guardian was shocked further still by the appearance of the skeleton — she recognized it immediately as It was one of the Death Sovereign’s own former guardians.

The notification that followed shook her even more.

"A three-path foundation?" she murmured, almost to herself.

The system continued.

[Ding~]

[Class Metamorphosis Complete.]

[New Class Established.]

[Name — Necrotic Qi Swordsman.]

[Current Grade — Epic.]

[Growth Potential — Legendary.]

[Classification — Growth-Type Hybrid Combat Class.]

[Primary Foundation — Qi.]

[Secondary Foundation — Swordsmanship.]

[Integrated Power — Necromantic Energy.]

Tina finally opened her eyes again, and everyone could see immediately that their color had changed. One eye remained perfectly normal, while the other had turned a deep, vivid purple.

The dark qi that had filled the room dissipated entirely. She looked down at her sword, then checked over her own body, and realized she felt noticeably stronger than before, in every sense.

"What happened?" she asked, still slightly dazed.

The guardian materialized in front of her. "You were originally meant to receive a Rare-rank class. But..."

Her words trailed off, her expression caught somewhere between amusement and disbelief.

"But what?" Tina pressed.

"But instead, you ended up receiving an Epic-rank class."

A new notification appeared immediately after.

[Ding~]

[Special Class Trait Unlocked.]

[Qi-Necrosis Assimilation.]

[Description: The user may absorb compatible residual Qi and attribute essence from defeated enemies.]

"You have real affinity for necromancy," the guardian explained, "but since your foundation is that of a swordsman, you won’t be able to raise the dead the way a true necromancer would. What you can do instead is absorb whatever energy and power lingers behind after you kill an enemy yourself."

"That could be physical traits, attributes, all sorts of things, really."

The guardian said all of this with remarkable casualness, though Tina found it genuinely difficult to wrap her head around.

"So I can pull energy — and other things — directly out of the dead?" Tina asked, still trying to process it.

"From dead bodies, yes, but only under one condition: it has to be you who killed them. You can only absorb energy from bodies you personally defeated."

The guardian paused, then added a firm warning. "And you can’t absorb just anything indiscriminately. If the essence is too powerful, too incompatible, carries some kind of foreign imprint, or simply exceeds what your body can safely hold, you need to stop immediately."

"And one more thing."

She fixed Tina with a serious look. "Never, under any circumstances, absorb the blood essence of a living being. Doing so will leave you addicted, and eventually loose your mind entirely."

Tina, thoroughly stunned, nodded firmly in understanding.

The system flashed again, unprompted.

[Ding~]

[Specialized Combat Traits Detected.]

[Qi Cultivation — Exceptional.]

[Swordsmanship — High.]

[Undead Affinity — Compatible.]

[Necromantic Resonance — High.]

[Essence Absorption — Unlocked.]

[Attribute Assimilation — Unlocked.]

[Growth-Type Class — Confirmed.]

[Future Evolution Conditions — Hidden.]

[Growth Potential — Legendary.]

Legendary growth potential. Tina stared at the notification, murmuring the words to herself in a daze, hardly able to believe it applied to her.

[Ding~]

[Class Acquisition Successful.]

[Current Class — Necrotic Qi Swordsman.]

The guardian smiled warmly at her dazed expression. "Congratulations. On earning yourself an Epic-rank class."

Tina finally shook off her daze and bowed deeply toward the guardian. "Thank you, for your guidance."

"I didn’t do anything, child. This is entirely your own path, and your own fortune."

With that, Tina made her way back to the group.

Leo gave her a thumbs-up as she approached. "Great class. You’ve found yourself a path that pulls together everything you’re already good at."

The guardian nodded in agreement at Leo’s assessment, glancing back toward the soul well. "The undead legacy has found itself a genuinely talented successor candidate, at least in this."

"Master! I got an Epic-rank class!" Tina announced to Rook, practically glowing with excitement.

Everyone present, Elona included, looked visibly surprised at the news.

"Didn’t you only test into Rare-rank affinity?" one of her fellow disciples asked eagerly. "How did you end up with an Epic class instead?"

Tina recounted the whole thing with a distinctly smug expression on her face.

Hugh, listening to her explanation, seemed to already know exactly what was coming. He quietly stepped back and covered both ears.

Sure enough, a moment later, booming laughter erupted through the chamber.

"Hahahah! As expected of my number-one disciple! Her talent sits just below my own, obviously. And that’s entirely because she has such an amazing master guiding her!"

Rook kept bragging on and on, as though he himself had been the one to earn the class.

His triumphant laughter echoed through the chamber for a good while longer.
