Eternal Emperor's Path to Ascension

Chapter 467: Greatest Generation in the History of the Mortal World (Part 2)

Countless beings, both mortals and cultivators, witnessed the scene in utter silence, their minds unable to comprehend what had just happened.

The Heavenly Region had disappeared beneath an ocean of destruction.

Mountains that had stood for countless years were reduced to dust, rivers had evaporated, and the very fabric of space had been torn apart.

The surrounding worldly laws and heavenly rules had become so chaotic that even the passage of time seemed to have momentarily lost its regularity.

More than a million miles of land had been engulfed by the combined self-detonations, and within that terrifying region, countless figures had vanished without a trace.

The supreme prodigies of the current generation, ancient powerhouses who had emerged from seclusion, successors of Immortal families and Dao lineages.

The righteous cultivators, the Demons, the remnants of the Demonic Path, and the countless hermits who had abandoned the world long ago.

Without exception, they had all perished.

They had burned their bodies, Nascent Souls, and Daos, transforming everything they possessed into a final attack against the Upper Realm army.

It was a sacrifice that could scarcely be described as rational.

Even if they gathered ten times their number, the difference between their cultivation realms and those of the Upper Realm powerhouses would still be immense.

Yet, they had done it anyway.

Because there was no other way.

It was said that this was the greatest generation in the history of the Lower Realm.

The most glorious generation belonging to the most extraordinary era.

A generation in which supreme talents emerged one after another, where monsters who would have shaken the heavens in any other era were born in astonishing numbers.

There were cultivators who possessed physiques that had appeared only once in countless generations, reincarnated powerhouses carrying the memories of ancient existences, and geniuses whose comprehension of the Dao surpassed the limits of their cultivation realms.

Even the weakest among the supreme prodigies possessed the potential to become great Immortal Gods.

Some might have reached the Golden Immortal Realm, some might have become Immortal Sovereigns, and perhaps, among them, there might even be someone capable of standing at the near pinnacle of the 33 Heavens.

A generation so extraordinary that it might have even surpassed the legendary generation from a billion years ago.

That ancient era had produced the Number One Genius Since Ancient Times.

The existence who had emerged from the Lower Realm, overturned the established order, and left behind a legend that countless cultivators still discussed with reverence.

Yet, at this moment, the greatest generation of the current era was disappearing right before everyone’s eyes.

Their futures, their ambitions, their Dao... everything was being extinguished beneath the Cleansing. And the world they had hoped to protect was left with nothing but their final radiance.

...

Far above the devastated Central Continent, Zhu Dong was suppressed beneath the terrifying might of the Lightning Tribulation Divine Deity.

His body was covered in wounds, and the immense pressure pressing down upon him made even breathing difficult.

Yet, he barely noticed any of it.

His eyes were fixed upon the endless destruction in the distance.

He watched the figures he had known, the cultivators he had fought alongside, the people whom he held great expectations for and people whom he disdained disappear into the chaos like shooting stars.

His sworn brother was gone, countless familiar faces were gone, and many supreme prodigies of this generation were also gone.

For a moment, Zhu Dong felt as if he had personally arrived in that era from a billion years ago recorded in the history of the Great World.

Was this what the Number One Genius Since Ancient Times witnessed back then?

Had he also watched his generation disappear before his eyes?

Had he also seen countless geniuses and powerhouses sacrifice themselves, knowing that their strength was insufficient to change the outcome?

Zhu Dong’s thoughts became increasingly chaotic.

Perhaps the only harm that Tribulation Transcendence and Immortal Ascension cultivators could inflict upon those beings from the Upper Realm was through self-detonation.

No matter how extraordinary their talents were or how profound their Dao foundations might become, they would ultimately be nothing more than insignificant ants in front of those beings.

Was this what it meant to be a cultivator of the Lower Realm?

To spend countless years pursuing immortality, only to discover that even the lives of the strongest among them could be extinguished like candles before a storm?

Zhu Dong slowly lowered his head, a bitter smile appearing on his face.

If that person were present in this generation, would everything have been different?

But the moment the thought emerged, Zhu Dong shook his head.

How could that be possible?

The Divine Sovereign was an existence who emerged only once in an eternity.

He was a monster whose talent had surpassed every conceivable limit, whose rise had overturned the established order of the Great World.

Such a person could not simply appear whenever the world needed him.

Even if another extraordinary genius emerged, how could anyone guarantee that they would reach the same heights?

However, at that thought, Zhu Dong’s expression suddenly froze.

His eyes widened, as if he had just realized something.

He dared not think, afraid the Lightning Tribulation Divine Deity would read his thoughts, but his heart surged wildly.

The realization appeared extremely suddenly, but once it emerged, it could no longer be suppressed.

Tian Yongheng!

That person who had produced one miracle after another!

The existence who had risen from obscurity, cultivated at a speed that defied common sense, and accomplished feats that even ancient powerhouses could scarcely imagine!

The one who had predicted the Cleansing decades before its arrival, gathered the Lower Realm’s forces, prepared them for the coming catastrophe, and given them a chance to resist an enemy they should never have been able to oppose!

And now, that person was still at the Eternal Peak, having not yet emerged.

Zhu Dong’s pupils contracted at this, realization dawning upon him as he finally understood.

They had realized it, too.

The current generation knew that Tian Yongheng needed time.

Perhaps he was undergoing a breakthrough, recovering from some unknown interference, or something had happened that prevented him from returning to the battlefield.

Whatever the reason, he had not yet emerged.

And until he did, the Lower Realm had no other choice.

They had to buy him time, no matter the cost!

Zhu Dong’s heartbeat grew increasingly rapid, a trace of light returning to his eyes.

As long as Tian Yongheng emerged, hope had not completely vanished!

Even he had not yet realized just how dependent he had become on that person.

Despite not knowing whether Tian Yongheng could truly reverse the situation, how powerful the he had become, or whether he possessed the strength to challenge the terrifying beings of the Upper Realm, he still believed in him.

He had witnessed too many miracles associated with that person to dismiss the possibility.

Perhaps... he could surpass even that legendary one, the Number One Genius Since Ancient Times, or perhaps he would fail.

But as long as he had not yet emerged, no one could declare the Lower Realm’s fate to be sealed!

The Mortal World... is not doomed to fall just yet!

Zhu Dong’s fists tightened as his eyes burned with renewed determination.

...

At that moment, streaks of light began to erupt from every corner of the Mortal World.

This time, their numbers were far greater than before.

From ancient forbidden regions to remote mountain ranges, from hidden secret realms to the ruins of once prosperous sects, countless figures emerged.

Old grudges were temporarily set aside and past grievances were suppressed.

The distinctions between righteous and demonic cultivators lost their significance.

They no longer cared about whether the person beside them had once been an enemy, nor whether their Dao differed from that of the others.

Because, at this moment, they shared a single goal, one singular conviction within their Dao Hearts:

Buy enough time for that person to emerge from seclusion!
