Chapter 3939: Location of the Duel

  • Next Chapter

Once the sun rose, Alex left first.

He walked alongside Bladedance and Sunflare, with the Sky God having long since left him. She had to be a neutral party in the duel, so she could not appear alongside him just to make it clear that she was not biased at all.

Many people stood along the way, watching him as he went toward the location of the duel. Along the way, he could see many familiar figures standing around with looks of awe and curiosity.

Greensoul, the Reverend who was in charge of looking after Ronron at all times, looked at Alex and gave him a wordless nod. Bluedoor and his wife were also outside, both giving words of encouragement to Alex.

Tainwind, Silkspear, Brasswing, Newhorn, as well as many of the Sky God’s disciples and Reverends, wished him luck as well.

Alex looked around for more, but there were no Gods present there. From what he could tell, all the Gods had already made their way to the dueling area.

The location of the duel was a massive arena, rarely used except for events such as this one. It was located at the eastern corner of the palace, so it took them longer than normal to walk all the way there.

When Alex arrived, he saw many people already seated. Most of them were Gods, but there were also Sages and Reverends, as well as other figures that had come along with the Gods.

The seats for the Gods were set accordingly. 33 seats in total, with a row of 13 at the front where the important Gods sat.

The Sky God was already there at the center, with the Forest God, Wildvines, seated to her left. To her right was the Winter God, Snowchild. On the other side of the Forest God was a man with bright blue hair and a handsome face, wearing a blue and white robe that looked like waves on a beachfront, with waves moving in with white froth.

Judging by the seating area alone, Alex could already tell the man was a Half God. The tear-shaped pendant he wore around his neck gave away his identity even without all of the hints.

This was the Ocean God, Tidalwave.

’He must’ve arrived within the last few decades since I wasn’t told of his arrival before that,’ Alex thought.

To the left of the Ocean God was another Half God that Alex knew very well.

The Storm God. Quickstorm.

The man had also appeared sometime in the past decade, and at that very moment, looked down at Alex with a smug expression on his face. Alex stared at the man for a brief moment before looking at the person sitting next to him.

Alex had expected the first row to be filled with only Half Gods, but surprisingly, there was someone there who wasn’t a Half God at all.

It was the Spear God. Cloudedge.

The man had been deep in conversation with the Storm God before noticing Alex. As soon as he noticed him, his eyes rose slightly and a wide smile formed on his face.

"Good luck on your duel, young man. I expect excellent entertainment from you today," he shouted down, causing a few to look toward him with curious expressions and drawing the ire of those who wanted the Fire God to win.

The Fire God, Ashmaker, himself was seated to the Winter God’s right and noticed Alex’s arrival only after the Spear God’s shouting. He looked toward Alex for a moment before scoffing and turning his attention back to the conversation he had been quietly having.

The space next to him was empty, either by choice or by accident. But to his right was a man who looked older in age, older than nearly every single God who was there, except perhaps the Moon God.

Elderly man though he was, he looked decadent, covered from head to toe in gilded robes and artifacts. His white hair was braided into long locks, each having golden threads running through them.

Alex thought of asking Bladedance who that was, but he found himself not needing to ask such an obvious question. There was no doubt that the man he was looking at was in fact Ironheart, the Golden God.

With the Stone God, Grandvein, missing, all 7 of the remaining Half Gods were there.

Alex could only take in a deep breath when looking at them all. It wasn’t every day that one got to see a Half God to begin with, and now he was looking at 7 of them in total.

8 of the 13 seats at the front were occupied, which made Alex wonder if this was meant to be for more than just Half Gods, but instead all Celestials.

That meant there were 5 Celestial Gods who were absent. Alex quickly went through the list of Gods and saw who was absent.

The Divination God had left the Sky God’s palace at some point in the past, so he was one. The Stone God had announced she wouldn’t be coming over, so that was another.

The Array God had also sent a similar message long ago, so that was the third one.

That left two more Gods who had to be in the Celestial realm, but Alex couldn’t remember if he had ever been told if anyone else was in the Celestial realm. As far as he knew, these were all of them.

"I’ll be going now," Bladedance said. "I’ll be there by the side of the other Gods. The duel should be starting at any moment, so just sit over there and wait."

Alex nodded.

He made his way toward the seating area where Bladedance had shown him to, along with Sunflare, and saw Bladedance heading toward the 13 seats.

’Oh right!’ he remembered just then. Bladedance had returned to being the Sword God as well, so she was one of them. While she hadn’t been officially reinstated, no one really argued against it.

’That leaves one last God,’ Alex thought. ’But who?’
