Eternal Cultivation Of Alchemy

Chapter 3913: Weapons Match

  • Next Chapter

Alex was up next after 4 different battles. He walked down from his seat and arrived at the arena. As soon as he was inside, the referee asked him and his opponent to bring out their weapons right away.

Alex hadn’t even had the time to look at his opponent clearly before he brought Nightslayer out.

On its own, Nightslayer didn’t look particularly incredible. The yellow on it was dull, and the entire sword looked like it was made of amber. It wasn’t until Qi was poured into it that it glowed with the brilliant and bright colors of the Nine Yang.

But there was no Qi being used this time around.

As a result, Alex would be fighting with the unassuming sword.

He finally looked at his opponent, an older man with a lean build. He brought out a spear as his weapon, which was clearly a treasure from the looks of it. The man himself was a Divinity, so that made sense.

Alex could faintly sense the man’s cultivation base in the Divine Manifestation realm, which under normal circumstances would mean that he had no way of winning a battle against him. However, given the fact that he could not use anything but his Sword Intent, he had a chance.

The man couldn’t even use his Dao, after all.

So the battle was going to be significantly easier.

All Alex could do now was hope that his spear skills had lagged significantly behind his cultivation base.

Not even 5 seconds had passed since Alex brought out his sword when the referee started the battle.

Instantly, the man struck out with his spear, sending a Spear Qi attack that flew toward Alex like a straight bolt of Energy, purely constructed of Spear Qi.

Alex used Sword Intent, making his sword grow an outline of faint white before striking the attack.

He felt the impact and the force behind the attack.

The man’s spear attacks were slightly weaker than his sword attacks.

’Good. He’s not that strong,’ Alex thought.

Now, all that remained was winning against the man.

Alex immediately dashed forward, arriving right next to the man while maintaining enough distance that he would not accidentally get into physical contact with him. Then, he filled his sword with Sword Aura and swung. ℴℴ𝘮

The powerful attack coming at such close range took the man off guard. He tried to use his own spear to block the attack, but even when he managed to intercept it, the force behind Alex’s strike was so strong that the explosion sent the man hurtling backward without any Divine Qi to protect him.

Before the man could orient himself, Alex dashed again and released another attack.

This time, the man was unable to stop the attack and took it head-on. His body was tossed through the air and sent smashing into the barrier, whereupon the man lost.

Alex left the arena and walked back to his seat.

"Good work!" the man in the golden robe said with a surprised look on his face.

He had genuinely not expected Alex to win at all, considering how weak he had expected him to be. From the start, Alex’s presence in Group 38 had seemed like a mistake to the man, but after watching Alex’s battle, he realized that it was he who had been mistaken.

"Thank you, senior. Your advice came in handy," Alex said.

The man chuckled slightly and turned back toward the other competitions. These were all potential opponents, so the man studied them thoroughly, not missing a hint of their attack patterns and fighting styles.

Alex watched as well, but he wasn’t as focused on the fights themselves. Instead, he paid attention to the different types of weapons people used.

Many used the tournament as an opportunity to use their unique weapons, so it became a good place to see new weapons and how they were being used.

Daggers were one of the rarer weapons that he hadn’t gotten to see anyone use as anything but throwaway weapons. This time around, they seemed to have a genuine use.

Another weapon he rarely saw being used to produce Weapon Qi was a club.

He got to see that too.

Alex’s third battle was against someone using a whip. Alex had once tried using a whip, but it had turned out to be quite difficult and much less useful than his own sword, so over time, he had stopped using it.

Now, the person before him used it so efficiently that he wondered if he could have reached this level of talent had he continued.

Not that it mattered much, since his sword talent was good enough to defeat this person as well.

Alex barely had to go above Sword Aura during his fights, as no one truly managed to push him enough to require anything more. He was certain, though, that it would soon be the case.

Alex fought a man using a spear again, and then a man using an axe.

Then, in his sixth match, he was matched against the man in the golden robe.

"Looks like we’re up together," the man said as he stood. "I won’t be going easy on you."

Alex smiled slightly. "I wouldn’t expect you to, senior."

At this point, the man more or less understood that Alex’s cultivation base was either being faked somehow, or something else was allowing him to possess such powerful sword skills.

Either way, his strength with the sword was legitimate and not something like borrowed power from a limited resource.

He would have to fight seriously if he wanted to win.

Alex understood that the man before him was talented as well. He wasn’t sure if the man had been pushed to his limits yet, but Alex intended to do so.

They both arrived at the arena and stood atop it while the referee asked them to bring out their weapons.

Both Alex and the man brought out their swords as they fell into fighting stances.

Then, almost immediately after, the match began.
