Eternal Cultivation Of Alchemy
Chapter 3893: Sunflare’s Words
Members of the Nine Yang Court were known to be true fanatics who cared about one thing and one thing only.
Their God.
They were rude, brash, and so stubborn that no one wanted to deal with them at all.
So, if one of them said that they would bring the entire Nine Yang Court upon anyone who killed Alex, especially when that someone was a Celestial who would likely stick to his words, the Fire God had to listen.
Though he didn’t understand what reason there could be for the man to do this, Ashmaker had to take the threat seriously. Nobody wanted these bald fucking monks at their doorstep.
"Are you serious?" the Fire God asked. "You are standing up for him? He’s not even a member of your Court, is he?"
"No, he is not. But my words are all true," Sunflare said.
The Fire God turned toward the Mind God, who gave a subtle nod, letting him know that there were no lies in the man’s words. His mood worsened after hearing that.
He turned back toward Sunflare. "Why would you want to save him? He’s a nobody. Just a junior who claims to be—oh."
The realization came to him immediately.
"It’s because he claims to be the Sun God, isn’t it? It’s because he claims to be your God. Well, let me tell you something. He’s a liar. He’s not your God."
"I know that," Sunflare said without much emotion in his voice. "You don’t have to tell me that a human can’t be our God. We are well aware that none of you are a God."
Several of the Gods rolled their eyes at the man’s words.
"Oh my God. You guys never shut up about that," the Spear God said with a sigh.
Sunflare let out a snort. "We say that because it’s true. So that should tell you all that our vested interest in this young man is not because of who he is, but what he has."
"What does he have?" the Fire God asked.
"Something that belongs to the Court. You do not need to know," Sunflare said. "The only thing that should matter to you is that you cannot kill him."
The Fire God openly frowned. "And you can’t just take back your item?" he asked.
"We can. But it should take some time," Sunflare said. "If you wish to wait until we get our item back, then feel free to do so. We do not mind if you kill him at that point. Do whatever you wish in the duel, and that will be fine."
"And how long will that take?" the Fire God asked.
"I don’t know. Probably two centuries if I’m being generous."
"Two centuries?" the Fire God spat out. "What the hell kind of item does he have that takes you two centuries to get from him? If he’s refusing to give it to you, then just kill him and take it away."
Sunflare snorted. "Don’t ask me why it’s taking so long. Ask your leader," he said as he gestured toward the Sky God. "She’s the one who’s not letting me take him away."
The Fire God turned toward the Sky God. "What’s going on?"
"I had to keep him here since I knew you would arrive," the Sky God answered.
"That shouldn’t take two centuries," Ashmaker said.
"She also said something about taking him to meet the Demons," Sunflare added.
The Sky God gave a sharp glare toward Sunflare, who couldn’t keep his mouth shut, causing several of the Gods to turn toward her.
"What is this about him meeting the Demons?" the Spear God asked. "I thought only the Gods were going."
"He is the Sun God," the Sky God said.
"No, he isn’t," the Fire God said almost immediately. "He will soon stop being one entirely."
"Even so, he will be coming with us to the meeting with the Demons," the Sky God said. "For that alone, you cannot kill him."
"What is an Immortal going to do in a meeting between mostly Celestials?" the Blood God, Crimsonstar, asked. "Even I don’t know if I can go or not, and you’re taking him?"
The Sky God sighed. "The Demons have their Moon Goddess. So, we need a Sun God of our own. He is acquainted with the Demon claiming to be the Moon Goddess. They met while they were in the Beast World, so he will be helpful during a peace meeting. That is why he will be going with us, despite whatever the result of this duel between the two Half Gods shall be."
The Fire God turned. "Acquainted with the Moon Goddess? What if he’s a spy for the enemy, then? You are giving the status of a God to someone who might have been compromised from the beginning."
The Sky God narrowed her eyes. "Enemies? Ashmaker, you should remember that the war is over. There is no enemy."
The Fire God made a face. "You know what I mean," he said before turning toward Alex. "Either way, we don’t need him. I can become the Sun God. We share the same elements anyway."
"Oh?" the Sky God raised an eyebrow. "Are you willing to change your name, then? Stop being the Fire God and become the Sun God?"
The Fire God hesitated for a moment before looking away.
There was no way he was going to do that. Not when an identity mattered so much to him.
He turned back to Sunflare to answer his question from long ago.
"No, I won’t wait two centuries to fight him. Our duel will happen much sooner than that," he answered.
Sunflare shrugged. "I have no qualms with that, so long as he isn’t crippled or dead."
"I definitely do want to kill him," the Fire God said, causing several eyes to narrow. "But I don’t have time to waste. And out of respect for my fellow Celestials who would rather see him live, I shall allow him to do so."
