Eternal Cultivation Of Alchemy
Chapter 3858: The Book
"You should follow me back to the Medicine World," the Alchemy God said. "I’m sure Momo would love to see you too."
Alex nodded. "I agree. As soon as I’m done with the peace meeting, I will visit."
Sunflare coughed from behind him.
"Oh, right. I need to be elsewhere after that, but as soon as I’m done with a task that I must do for senior here, I will go visit," Alex said.
The Alchemy God narrowed his eyes slightly. "Peace meeting?"
Alex nodded.
"Which one?" the Alchemy God asked.
"Is there more than one?" Alex asked. "The one with the demons."
"I’m sorry. You’re going to the meeting with the demons?" the Alchemy God asked with no small amount of surprise in his voice.
"Yes."
"Why?"
Alex wasn’t sure how to respond to that. Should he just tell the truth? Upon thinking for a moment, he saw no reason why he shouldn’t. Everyone else knew it already anyway.
"Because I’m the Sun God," he answered.
Whitesong was taken aback. "The Sun God?"
Just then, his eyes narrowed as he looked at Alex, as if seeing something for the first time. He took a few steps back, taking him in with a wider field of view. Only then did the feeling of what Alex had become register to him.
A slight gasp left his mouth.
"Half God!"
Alex nodded. "I am the Sun God."
The Alchemy God was speechless. He searched for something to say, but the most he could do was make some sounds. It was only a while later that he managed to even ask a question at all.
"How did it happen? How did you become a Half God?"
"That’s... a long story that I don’t want to get into," Alex said.
Whitesong clearly wanted more, but he could not ask for more.
"What are you a Half God of? What is the Sun God a Half God of? I thought that was one of the actual Gods of the past."
"Fire and Yang," Alex said.
Whitesong looked away for a second. "Isn’t that the Fire God?"
"Yes," Alex said. "That’s a bit of a problem I’m in."
The Alchemy God blinked in surprise. "Two Gods for the same thing can mean only one thing. You’re going to have to fight the Fire God for the title."
Alex sighed. "Yes, that is the case."
The Alchemy God nodded. "Does the Fire God know yet?"
"I’m not sure. Though I don’t doubt he will find out the moment he comes here," Alex said.
Whitesong nodded. "That’s fine, though. You can just give up when he comes here. That will be the end of your troubles."
Alex looked toward him for a moment, saying nothing.
"You are giving up, aren’t you?" he asked.
"I’m not sure," Alex said. "I haven’t truly decided on anything at all."
Whitesong could hardly believe what he was hearing. "This is a Celestial Half God we’re talking about. You’re going to have to give up or face a danger much worse than what you can imagine."
Alex shrugged. "Then I guess I’m going to have to face a danger I cannot yet imagine, because there is not a chance that I will give up on being the Sun God."
Whitesong wasn’t sure what he could say to Alex to persuade him. In the end, he decided not to. He let Alex do what he wanted to do.
"Then I guess you won’t be coming along with me to the Medicine World."
"I will, after I’m done with things here," Alex said.
"I will be leaving long before that."
Alex blinked. "You won’t be staying for the peace meeting?"
The Alchemy God shook his head. "The meeting won’t have more than a handful of the Gods, and they’re going to want ones who have stronger cultivation than mine. It will mostly be the Half Gods and the various Gods of weapons."
Alex hadn’t thought about who would go to the peace meeting, but it made sense that the weaker Gods would only be seen as a liability during the meeting. Only those who had strong cultivation bases would have the authority to speak on behalf of the humans.
"Will you be staying for the meeting here at least?" Alex asked.
"Oh, yes. I will be here for that," the Alchemy God said. "I will be here for a while."
Alex smiled. "That’s great."
The Alchemy God looked around for a moment, seemingly lost in thought before leaning toward Alex. His next words came as a whisper.
"Do you have the Alchemy God’s book?" he asked.
Alex’s eyes widened in surprise. How could this man have known? He hadn’t told anyone about the book he found in the Void. The Book of Boundless Healing was one of his best-kept secrets, after all.
"What... what makes you say that, senior?" Alex asked.
Was there perhaps some sort of beacon that his book gave out that the other books recognized and alerted the holder?
"It’s a simple deduction that we made," the Alchemy God said. "The treasures in the Sky God’s palace were sent to a lower realm. And then, a millennium later, someone comes out of that world, having knowledge of Alchemy that is far too impossible for any regular person to hold. It can be no coincidence."
Alex’s eyes narrowed. "I don’t remember ever revealing to anyone that I came from a lower realm, senior. How did you figure that out?"
"It wasn’t me who figured it out," the Alchemy God confessed. "Not that it matters who did. All that matters is whether or not that is true. Do you have the Alchemy God’s book?"
A million thoughts roamed through Alex’s mind at that moment. He thought of lying at first, since that would be the easiest thing to do, but seeing as how the man already knew everything, he decided to answer truthfully.
"Yes. I do have the book," Alex said with as much courage as he could muster in that moment. "Are you going to ask me to hand it over to you, Alchemy God?"
