Chapter 3848: Robe Proposal

Alex had never considered using his ability as a Half God to connect to the Heavens as a way of checking how much of the Heavenly Silkworm threads were needed. It was such a simple and yet ingenious method. He wouldn’t even have to call for Immortal Tribulation.

"Can’t regular people also just swear an oath to the Heavens?" Alex asked. "That sounds a lot safer than calling down lightning upon yourself."

"Oaths don’t work quite as well," the Artifact God explained. "They stop working way ahead of the Tribulation Lightning for some reason, so even if your oath doesn’t work, the Heavens are still aware of where you are."

Alex nodded to himself on the outside as he considered her words.

"In that case, I will be careful to check how much I need before creating a set of clothing using those threads."

The Artifact God nodded. "I can make a robe for you if you want me to."

Alex raised an eyebrow. "You are a seamstress as well, senior?"

"An Artifact Maker has to be everything if they want to be great at this job," she said with a sigh. "I’m a seamstress, a smith, a butcher, a jeweler, and a million other things, including being a formation master. Being an Artifact Maker is no simple task."

Alex could understand how that was true.

"In that case, I would be incredibly honored if you could make a robe for me," he said.

"I will need materials," the Artifact God said. "Do you have any idea what you want your robe to be made out of?"

"I’m not sure," Alex answered. "A part of it is going to be the Heavenly silk, right? As for the other part, I will have to collect materials. Any idea on what sort of material is the best?"

"Anything that makes a thread or is thread-like. Anything ductile works," she said.

"Like a metal, then? I don’t think I know of any I would want my robes to be made out of," Alex said.

"Doesn’t have to be a metal. Regular cotton is a flower, which works. You can get threads out of lotus roots. Those work. You could get wool or find some furs. Even a beast’s hide works since I could probably use the two new artifacts to make them into what I want them to be."

Alex narrowed his eyes for a moment, considering something. "Will this work?"

Something appeared before the Artifact God suddenly, sent in from outside. The thing that came was a small dark bead, which was something the Artifact God had made just a while ago using the artifacts on a single feather from a Primordial beast.

Seeing the bead, her eyes slowly widened in surprise. "You wish to use the body of a Primordial to make clothes?"

Alex shrugged. "Can it be done?" he asked.

She thought for a bit. "I don’t see why not," she said. "So long as I can manipulate it into threads, it works. I can make the robe. But with this, I may be able to do so much more too."

She let out a deep sigh. "Will you let me?"

Alex considered the opportunity. "Yes, I think we’ve stumbled onto a great idea. A robe made entirely out of the feathers of the Sun Crow sounds incredible."

"It really is," the Artifact God said. She sounded excited as well, as though getting to work was a privilege that most others did not know about.

She continued walking, going past the silkworms and then past a small patch of Alchemy ingredients that Alex had been growing with Whisker’s help for some time. She merely gave it a glance and moved on. She hardly cared about Alchemy.

She tried to make some small talk along the way, but most of the walk ended up being silent, as neither side wanted to carry on a conversation for this long. Both were focused on Ray and how he had been doing.

After walking for a while, the Artifact God ended up before the massive tree, to a point where she could even feel the pure aura that came from it, nothing like the aura she had been sensing all this time.

"So this is the World Tree?" she asked, looking at the gigantic monster of a tree. It had grown to become so much thicker and so much larger now that even people who had seen it before would be surprised at its growth.

Having the region speed through time made both of the trees grow faster.

The Artifact God watched the tree in awe, taking in all of its beauty. Once she was done looking at the tree, she finally lowered her eyes toward the ground, where she saw a few people sitting around.

Ronron, Battlesage, Pearl, Whisker, and Scarlet were all quietly cultivating next to the tree.

Shen Yaojia felt as though she was interfering in something she shouldn’t have, so she never approached it up close.

"How did you grow it exactly?" she asked. "The tree, I mean. I guess I mean both trees."

Alex paused for a moment. "Do you know what the World Tree needs to sustain itself?"

"I’m not sure. What?" the Artifact God asked.

"Light," Alex said. "All it needs is some light that it can absorb into its body, using that to create Qi. Nearly all of the Qi coming here is thanks to none other than the Nine Yang Divine Tree."

The Artifact God looked back. "That tree helps it grow?"

"Yes. And this helps that one grow. Or it used to. But since I’ve added so many things, it’s not quite the same now," he answered.

"So it’s a feedback loop," the Artifact God said. "One affects the other, and the other affects the first one."

"It used to be, yes," Alex answered. "But now, anything works to grow them. That’s how they’ve gotten so big," he said.

"I see," the Artifact God said, watching the monstrous tree. "I don’t think this one likes me. Should I get closer or run away?"
