Chapter 3685: Ronron vs Guardian
Chapter 3685: Ronron vs Guardian
Ronron stepped toward the stone guardian and quickly flew into the sky. She pulled out an artifact from her Soul Space, a long green raiment that gently wrapped itself around her.
Alex could see the vivid green aura coming off of the Immortal treasure that was the raiment. He wondered what the artifact did.
Ronron made a quick gesture, and two large green wings emerged from her back at the same time. In the next moment, the wings burst outward into individual feathers, and with Ronron’s command, they all attacked the stone guardian.
The stone guardian didn’t flinch in the slightest as Ronron’s attacks hit it. There was not a thing Ronron could do that could hurt it. In the middle of the attack, the stone guardian acted.
Its right arm moved to swat at Ronron, moving at a relatively quick pace. Ronron quickly did something else that caused the entire raiment to glow bright green. Green aura surrounded Ronron in an instant, and she moved out of the stone guardian’s attack path in the very next instant.
Several people who were watching the fight made surprised noises when they saw Ronron dodge the attack. A few of them even noticed the Dao she had used.
’Dao of Swiftness?’ Alex thought. The Wood Dao allowed people to improve their physical speed by quite a bit. While it may not be as quick as using the Dao of Temporal Swiftness, it wasn’t that much worse if one’s intention was to move from one location to another.
Once Ronron stopped to the side, a large distance away from the stone guardian, she flicked her wrist. As if the crack of a whip, a sharp sound emerged from the flick, propagating and becoming louder as it expanded.
The sound hit the stone guardian like a shockwave, drilling deep into its body, sending tremors throughout it.
The ground surrounding the cliff groaned as stones cracked and left fissures all around. The stone guardian itself, however, was not affected.
"Tsk!" Ronron clicked her tongue. Her intention was to use the Dao of Resonance to try and destroy the stone guardian from the inside, but it appeared she had failed to find the resonant frequency of the stone guardian. The Dao should have found it all on its own, but something had interfered. Likely the powerful Qi inside the stone guardian.
Ronron dodged a few more times, attempting different attacks. When they didn’t work, she moved to some other attacks.
While Ronron only had the Wood spirit root, it became difficult to use the word "only" to describe it, as it allowed her such a broad wealth of Daos.
She could tap into Wood-based attacks one moment, and then sound-based attacks the next. She could also go from Wind attacks to Lightning at the switch of a beat.
Two bright green attacks flashed into existence next to her and immediately flew at the stone guardian. The guardian did nothing to stop them at all, and the attacks landed.
The next moment, the green attacks exploded into giant roots and vines that formed around the stone guardian, quickly attempting to constrict its movements. So much of it grew out of nowhere that it was hard to imagine it was the result of just two simple attacks.
Many people commented on it, surprised by someone of such a weak cultivation base showing this much prowess in a fight against the guardian. Many stronger than her had failed much quicker.
The people obviously didn’t realize that Ronron had a higher Battle Power than the average person, so her weaker cultivation base didn’t mean much when her true strength was somewhere around Immortal Origin 8th realm.
And more than that, she had simply managed to keep running when others would have been struck down by now.
The stone guardian was barely affected by the vines. It simply tore out of them, turning them back into Qi with each part that was destroyed. Not that Ronron had intended for it to do anything else.
All she did was buy herself some time as she prepared one of her stronger attacks.
Qi collected in her palm, compressing on itself to become stronger and stronger, constantly fighting against her hold, but unable to break free from it. As she used it, the Qi took on the aura of lightning. She kept at it until the stone guardian was nearly upon her.
Then, Ronron let it go.
The people saw a flash of white for a moment, the light so bright many felt as if their eyes were being seared. Then, when the brightness went down, they saw the massive arm of the stone guardian being deflected backward, with a bright red mark upon it.
The sound came next, along with the shockwave.
A powerful force of a thunderous sound moved through the crowd, making nearly everyone stumble backward in surprise. The force Ronron had managed to produce just now had been stronger than most attacks any of the cultivators had managed to use until this point, much stronger than even the use of some artifacts.
No one had yet seen a single scratch on the stone guardian, and Ronron had left a mark. That was incredible.
Incredible though it was, it wasn’t enough.
The guardian’s left arm moved as its right arm was repelled, and it landed on Ronron. Ronron could have maybe dodged with her Dao of Swiftness, but as even her second strongest attack had failed, she could only give up and let the guardian win.
The guardian slammed onto her with not as much force as she was expecting and sent her back onto the ground.
Ronron flipped through the air before righting herself at the end and gently landing.
The guardian returned to the ground as well, sitting cross-legged at the end as it once again waited for another fighter to come for it.
Ronron sighed as she walked up to the group. "That thing is impossible to beat," she said. "Good luck on getting anywhere with it, grandaunt."
Liz stepped forward as it was her turn next. "I’ll just do my best and see where this goes."
