Chapter 3625 Single Roots
Chapter 3625 Single Roots
A spirit root didn't just act in a vacuum. It was affected by one's physique and constitution, as well as their cultivation techniques.
Since Alex's cultivation technique was the Five Yang Divine Path, the current one being the strongest variant of it in the Divine grade, every test he performed henceforth would be polluted with Yang aura entirely.
It would be a fair assessment of its effect on his own body, but it would certainly make it harder to use the same information and apply it to help the others.
Since he wasn't doing it just for himself, Alex decided to change his practice and rely on a neutral cultivation method. As such, Alex had made sure to find a good one before he started his tests.
His mother had been given a particularly strong but neutral cultivation method, which he had borrowed from her for this particular test, which was also what he had used for the baselines.
Alex wanted to use his own cultivation method as well to understand its effects on his body, but he didn't have that sort of time. Considering the amount of tests he was going to have to perform, even the next 50 years would likely not be enough.
He would need more, no doubt.
The first of the tests to be done was to check one's cultivation speed should they only have a single spirit root.
Sword Heart Breaker formed a sharp edge around his palm, upon which Alex used to easily cut through his own Divine grade body cultivation. He carefully reached inside through the pain and made sure to cut out all the spirit roots from either side, leaving him with only the neutral root.
Alex used Sun Fire afterward to cauterize the wounds so that no Qi would escape and forced his body to stop any healing it was about to do. Once the setup was done, he began his cultivation session.
The session turned out to be much more difficult than what Alex had initially thought it would be. The Qi in his body almost felt like it crawled more than anything. And when he saw the result on the formation, it proved his thoughts correct.
The lowest number was 140.
The highest number was 353.
And the average number was 212.
These numbers were so bad that Alex couldn't even begin to believe they were real. And that was considering the fact that the cultivation technique Alex used itself was quite good. If not, it would've likely been even worse.
After considering the numbers, Alex rested for some time and healed his body. Then, just a few days later, once his Qi was fully expended, he mutilated himself again, this time leaving just the Water root.
Since Water root was his weakest, he wanted to start there.
As soon as Alex started his cultivation sessions this time around, he nearly panicked that something had gone wrong. If the Qi had been crawling the first time around, it was glacial at this point. His body was clearly pulling in Qi from the outside, but barely any was making it into his system. Most of what he absorbed was being pushed right out.
Alex almost immediately realized what was wrong.
Having a single Water root was no different than what Ronron and the rest who had no regular meridians went through. Without a source of Qi their body could accept, they ended up rejecting almost everything, which resulted in them gaining absolutely nothing.
The formation's results were proof of that.
The lowest value for this session came out at just 92.
The highest value was also quite low at 192.
And the average value for the entire session was only 121.
The entire thing was so incredibly bad that Alex didn't even know just what he was supposed to do here. Should he continue on like this with the rest of the spirit roots? Surely that would just be a waste of time since he already understood just how bad that was.
After taking some time to think about it, Alex decided that it would be fairer for him and everyone else who was in a similar situation, such as Ronron, if he were to just do what they did.
So, Alex went through his Soul Space to find Water treasures and brought them out into his room. Using those treasures, he restarted the same test once again.
The Water treasure filled the room with Water aura, which was what Alex absorbed in majority. Thanks to that, his cultivation sessions this time around went much better than the first time.
2 months later, Alex got the new results.
His lowest value this time around was 458.
His highest value was 1222.
And on average, the value was at 755.
"That's incredible!" Alex couldn't help but say out loud. Just the fact that he had a single type of spirit root and found the correct form of energy to cultivate with had increased his cultivation speed by nearly 4 times.
This was likely why people without spirit roots failed to become great cultivators in general.
'As long as you can find the right type of aura to absorb, it can be better than regular Qi that floats around,' Alex realized. Did that mean that it was better to adhere to this logic even if one did have a neutral root alongside an elemental root?
It probably was.
"I wonder how much better it would be if I used the Qi from the World Tree?" Alex wondered for some time, but sadly he couldn't test it. He could most likely make an opening in his Soul Space directly next to the World Tree and bring out its aura, but that would not affect the formation below him, which was what he was using to quantify the numbers.
As such, sad as it was, he had to rely on the regular Qi and treasures.
Alex didn't immediately let his Water root heal. He had tested it normally, but he still needed to test how it fared when he used cultivation pills.
