Chapter 3546 Offer
Chapter 3546 Offer
Alex somewhat understood the situation now.
Instead of both he and the Fire God obtaining their energy from a shared pool based on the number of people who believed in them, the pool was split between the two.
As such, even though Alex could barely obtain any of the energy, the Fire God had no access to his portion of the pool, and had thus suddenly become a lot weaker than he previously was.
'I guess it would make sense for him to try and find me quickly so he could resolve this issue, Alex thought. Even though he hadn't wanted it, he had gotten himself into this situation, so now he had to find a way out of it.
"Is my life in danger by any chance?" Alex asked the two.
"No, the Fire God won't kill you," the Sky God said. "He may try something of that sort if you were a Celestial who had done such a thing on purpose, but it is abundantly clear that you had no intention of doing this. One couldn't even imagine an Immortal trying such a thing after all."
Alex did not get happy that quickly. From the Sky God's tone, he could tell there was more coming.
"If he finds you out, he will most likely challenge you before an audience and force you to fight him," the Sky God said. "And your master might have to step in for you."
"But he won't kill me, will he?" Alex asked.
"If it were any other person, the chances would've been low but not zero. However, considering the prophecy attached to your existence, he would not dare mess with it."
Alex nodded slowly. Since that was the case, he could at least not worry for his life.
"But since he can't kill you, he will most likely not hesitate to utterly destroy any reputation you might hold as a possible Fire God and prove for certain that he and he alone is the Fire God."
Alex grimaced slightly. "So I have to be ready to be humiliated before a group of high-level cultivators, huh?"
The Sky God shrugged as she could foresee no other method for the Fire God to deal with this situation.
"You have your master to protect you, but even weakened, the
chances that she can go up against him are not high," the Sky God said. "There is, however, a way to improve the chances of you coming out of this unscathed. It's quite high too."
Alex grew curious. "What's the method?" he asked.
She had already said that running away wouldn't really help him, but only delay the situation. So this had to be something else.
"Join me," the Sky God said.
Alex blinked. "I beg your pardon."
"Be part of my group. I will quickly raise you to be a leader among my people, and I will protect you from Ashmaker when he eventually comes here to find you."
Alex considered the option for a few seconds. If he joined the Sky God, he would be under the leader of the gods and have access to resources and opportunities that he could not get anywhere else. It was a truly tempting offer.
However, he simply could not accept it.
"I'm sorry, Your Majesty, but I must decline," he answered.
The Sky God wasn't offended at all. In fact, it seemed she had even been prepared for that answer.
"Well, you weren't wrong," Newheaven said, turning toward Bladedance. "He did reject me."
"He rejected my proposal to join my cult as well, and I am his master," Bladedance said with a shrug.
The Sky God turned toward Alex. "May I ask why you refused? I'm certain you understand the benefits of joining my cult, so there must be a reason you chose otherwise. Surely you do not believe yourself capable enough to handle what life throws at you all on your own, do you?"
"The reason is rather simple, Your Majesty," Alex said. "It is because of a promise I made to my sect before I left the Myriad Spirit Realm. I promised them that during the time I was gone, I would not join any other sects or organizations."
"If it's a matter of an oath that you swore, I can help you with it," the Sky God said. "You could do it yourself when you have a decent amount of Primordial energy, but it is possible to completely erase any oaths you've made."
Alex nodded slowly. Truthfully, the oaths had vanished the moment he obtained the Sun God's powers, so he trusted that the Sky God was telling the truth. But this wasn't a matter of the oath itself.
"I intend to keep my promise," Alex said. "Even if my oaths can be gotten rid of, I will not join another sect or cult. So I'm sorry, Your Majesty, but I cannot accept your offer."
Bladedance said nothing at all, simply looking to the side. It was hard
to explain the offer that Alex had been given and how much he had lost by not accepting it. Still, she could not argue with his intention to stick to his oaths. She found it quite commendable.
"Well... if that is what you want, then I cannot say anything else," the Sky God said in the end, moving away from the topic.
"I have had a question for a while, Your Majesty," Alex said. "You called it Primordial energy, did you not?"
"I did, because that is its name," the Sky God said. "I'm assuming you haven't tried finding out about your newfound powers."
"My energy is so little that I have only used it when it was necessary. Otherwise, I was hoping to gather some more so I could experiment and learn from it," he answered.
"I see. If you had, you would have learned that it is called Primordial energy," the Sky God said.
"I understand, and that is where my question comes from," Alex said.
"Is it just the name that is similar, or does this energy have anything to do with the Primordials themselves?"
