Chapter 3466: The End
Chapter 3466: The End
Bladedance stared at the last page for a while, her lips frozen half-open, her eyes brimming with concern.
Alex’s eyes narrowed in worry and impatience.
Bladedance finally read it out loud.
“The Savior shall announce, and the world shall listen, for he shall herald the battle for the End.”
The air in the room froze as the three stared at each other, two with more surprise in their eyes than the third. The Wine God had known about the prophecy for a while, so he could hardly be surprised by it. Still, accounting for everything he had learned today, he showed some emotion.
Alex broke the silence. “The… End?” he asked, his voice cracking. “End of what?”
Bladedance pursed her lips, turning to the Wine God for answers.
“Once again, it is unclear,” he said. “But… it may be the end of a realm. Maybe even many realms. Some say this prophecy speaks of the end of the world itself.”
Alex froze. “End of the world? Is that even possible?”
“I can’t see how it can be,” Bladedance said, rereading the prophecy again. She flipped the page to see if there was any explanation, but found none. She placed the page down with the rest of the prophecies, now done with them all. “The Eternal War brought the end of many smaller realms, but the bigger ones always survived. And never was the entire world at stake, so I cannot imagine the prophecy speaking of the end of everything.”
Alex took a moment to consider Bladedance’s words and found himself agreeing with her. The prophecy spoke of a battle and the end, but more importantly, it spoke of the Savior’s announcement and how the entire world heard of it. The world thus had to be a single realm.
“It is a battle,” Alex added. “There is no saying that the end will come, since that is likely what the fight will be for.”
Bladedance nodded in agreement.
The Wine God disagreed.
“I, however, believe this prophecy speaks of the end of all things. The end of life itself,” he said. He then turned toward Alex. “If the Destroyer prophecy is to be trusted, then you will bring this end, which also means you are the Savior who will herald this end.”
“The Destroyer prophecy came from a disgruntled old woman, mixed in with the Slayers. Her words are not to be trusted in the least,” Bladedance said.
“Perhaps,” the Wine God said, choosing not to argue that point. Instead, he reached for the two pages he had kept aside at the start and pushed them toward Bladedance. “But you do trust the Divination God.”
Bladedance looked down at the pages she was given. “More Savior prophecies?”
The Wine God shook his head. “These are regular prophecies made by the Divination God long ago. These were among the many prophecies he made for the previous Sky God. Many of those prophecies came true back then, causing the Sky God to unilaterally give him the title of the Divination God.”
He then pointed to the two before him on the table. “These are the two that we are sure have yet to come true.”
Bladedance held a strange look on her face. “And why did you bring these over?”
“Because I believe the Savior prophecy from before has a connection with these ones. Please read them. You will understand what I mean.”
Bladedance narrowed her eyes and reached for the first of the two pages on the table and flipped it for everyone to see.
The End of breaths comes with a Fake,
The Fake breathes life to an empty head,
The True one rises with naught a grace,
and brings the End in a mindless rage.
The room went silent once again as Alex and Bladedance stared at the text with stunned expressions. Their minds churned, trying to understand the meaning of the prophecy.
End of breaths? Fake? True one?
What could it all mean?
Alex’s heart skipped a beat as he feared that he understood what one of it meant.
Was the True one the Sun God? Was he then the fake one?
’Fake breathes life to an empty head,’ Alex thought. ’Is it referring to a future where I will free the Sun God in my head?’
Alex didn’t want to believe that. There was not a chance that would be something he would do of his own volition.
“The End of breaths,” Bladedance finally spoke, breaking the silence in the group. “That is what you were referring to earlier. The Savior will herald the battle for the End, and you believe the end to be the End of breaths.”
“Yes. That is why I believe the end to be bigger than just a single realm or a couple of realms. Life as we know it might be in peril should either of these prophecies be real,” the Wine God said.
Bladedance read the text twice over, but she still didn’t have the faintest clue as to what it could possibly mean. The closest thing to a mindless rage was what she had gone through back in Hell, but surely this wasn’t something similar.
There was also Godslayer’s corruption, but Godslayer was gone. There was no more corruption remaining. So what could it possibly mean?
“The Sky God learned of this prophecy, you say. Did he ever figure out what it could mean?” she asked.
“If he did, he didn’t offer up an explanation to anyone who made a record of it,” the Wine God said. “I don’t believe many even know of this in the first place. The Sky God passed these along to me only as an afterthought, long after her master had passed away.”
Bladedance could only wonder. She turned to the last page. “Does this speak of the end as well?” she asked, flipping the page over, revealing it for all to see.
Alex saw the single line written on the page, and his breath caught at what he read.
When Two becomes One, All shall become none.
