Chapter 3373 Return
Chapter 3373 Return
After 10 years of leaving the Land of the Blessed Sun, Alex and the rest finally returned to it.
They arrived in a flash of teleportation, right back to the small peninsula to the southeast of the Black and White Continent. Their arrival was met with some surprise, as it wasn’t always that a Patriarch of one of the Heavenly Beasts arrived through here.
“It’s been more than 20 years since your master left, hasn’t it?” the patriarch asked. “They must’ve recently activated the teleportation formation to the human realms. You might have to wait for some time.”
Alex frowned. “Hopefully not.”
“Don’t worry, it’s not always an exact 10 years,” Bai Jingshen said. “The last time your master left, it was activated early, so they will have spent a lot longer this time around before activating it. There should still be some time.”
Alex nodded.
“Let us return. I will ask Fulin to take care of that issue,” the patriarch said.
“Actually, since we’re in a hurry, I’ll instead head over to the Phoenix Continent,” Alex said. “I’ll let Scarlet meet with her mother, and I have a small thing to do there. Once I’m done, I will return.”
The patriarch gave a small nod. “Jingshen, go with him and keep an eye on them.”
Bai Jingshen nodded, and together they left for the teleportation formation. Half an hour later, they were already teleporting to the Phoenix Continent.
Their arrival, while quick, hadn’t gone unnoticed. The beasts that had been there all this time immediately notified everyone that the White
Tiger Patriarch had returned, and he had brought back the human.
All four of the Heavenly Beast families were aware that Alex had returned before he even had a chance to reach there.
Whisker was out of the Soul Space now that they were alone, moving around with Alex and Pearl. Scarlet still wasn’t sure she wanted to come out. At least, not when she would be in the midst of all of the phoenixes.
So, when Alex and the rest arrived at the Vermilion Bird palace, Scarlet wasn’t there with them.
Arriving outside the massive fire barrier of the phoenixes, Alex had been ready to call Scarlet’s mother and grandfather to let them know that they had arrived. However, before he even got a chance to, a phoenix arrived before them and bowed.
“Greetings, I am Feng Kangli, daughter of the Matriarch. Her Majesty welcomes you and hopes to make your acquaintance,” the phoenix said.
Alex blinked, surprised that the next matriarch-in-line had come to welcome him. How did she even know he was here? He sensed her cultivation base and found it to be high in the Divine realm, likely in the Divine Manifestation realm.
“Greetings, Senior Kangli. It is a pleasure to meet you,” Alex said with an equal bow. The others bowed accordingly as well. “Please show us the way.”
The phoenix turned around, taking them in through the barrier. Inside, they saw the familiar palace, the surroundings of which seemed slightly dark at the moment. The Sun Stone that made the palace absorbed sunlight during the day, after all, making it possible for it to shine with sunlight during the night.
They were led through the palace in a swift manner, quickly taken to the main hall where Alex hadn’t been yet. He had always met the matriarch in her chambers, so this was a first.
Upon arriving inside, Alex saw a few beasts already present.
The matriarch was obviously already there, but there was also Feng Ningzhu, Feng Xianhei, and an eagle with golden feathers that he didn’t recognize. In the corner, out of the normal light but visible to Alex, was another phoenix. He didn’t know her name, but he was certain that this was the beast that had made her way to the center of the trial where she had met him.
A Celestial.
He stepped forward all the same and bowed. “I greet the matriarch and seniors.”
The several beasts hesitated slightly, not understanding how to react.
“Please,” the Matriarch said hastily. “Don’t bow before us. We cannot bear such grace.”
Alex tilted his head back up with a strange look on his face.
“You are a god now,” she continued. “You should not bow to just
anyone.”
“You are not just anyone,” Alex quickly said. “You are the matriarch of the Vermilion Birds. A Celestial. I may have become a god, but I am still only starting. I have yet to reach the stage where I can be cocky enough to not greet those stronger than me.”
The matriarch nodded slowly, seemingly understanding Alex’s words. “Have you really become the Sun God?” the matriarch asked. “Does that mean it is time?”
Alex had not the slightest change in his expression as he answered her question. “The time is not yet. I am still weak, so until I am strong, it will not be the time. But be sure that when I regain my strength, it will be the day when you must fulfill your vow. That shall be the day when the Architect’s design shall take flight.”
The matriarch nodded vehemently. “Of course. Of course.”
The rest were too shocked to say anything. They hardly knew what to think when seeing a god before them.
Alex could only hope that Pearl and Bai Jingshen weren’t going to ruin his lie with their expressions.
The matriarch asked for some more details, including the trial and Ray. Alex gave her enough information to appease her, including the fact that the power he gained as the Sun God came from the corpse
of the Dragon Father.
Learning that the Dragon Father and Phoenix Mother were the Sun God and Moon Goddess had been quite the revelation for the group, leading to a new understanding as to why there was so much confusion around who had blessed whom.
The gods had together blessed the Heavenly Beasts. The reason why
the Sun God was the only one who was depicted as doing so more often than not was because he was likely the one to establish their vows later on.
