Chapter 3170 Before Entering
Chapter 3170 Before Entering
Alex floated in a darker region of the Black Tortoise palace, staring at a nondescript platform in front of a small building that had more guards than anywhere else in the entire palace.
He could hear the subtle hum of an active formation nearby, constantly scanning him and everyone around him, most likely to ensure that only those with permission to be in the area were present.
Had he not been given the medallion before being brought here, he would’ve likely already been surrounded by every single palace guard there, and maybe even killed without question.
The Ancestral Bloodline pool was that important of a location to the beasts.
Both the matriarchs had arrived this time, the snake and the tortoise, floating next to Alex as they waited. There were a few other Black Tortoises that he didn’t recognize around them as well. And Lingkai had left to bring over the next two children who were to enter with Alex.
Alex could barely hide his excitement. The last few days had been a torture having to wait until today. But, finally, he was here, and soon, he would enter.
The matriarchs remained quiet for some time, as they too waited for Lingkai to arrive. She came with two Saint beasts.
One was a brown-skinned snake, and the other a tortoise with a gray shell. The two young beasts cowered in the presence of so many strong individuals, despite not realizing that the matriarchs
themselves were present there.
One of the Black Tortoises around took the two beasts with them and began explaining what it was that they had to do. Alex tried to listen in on their conversation, but found the sounds inaudible, as though
they had deliberately chosen to hide their words from him.
He was slightly disappointed, but since he would be entering himself, he could see what they were doing later on.
Another Black Tortoise moved away from the group, this time approaching Alex. Even before they arrived, Alex could already sense the strong cultivation base coming off the beast.
The beast was high in the Divine realm, most likely in the Divine Domain realm.
“Cousins,” he spoke up, talking to the two matriarchs. “If you haven’t had the conversation already, it is time.”
The two matriarchs nodded, before turning toward Alex. “Young man, come. We need to talk before you enter.”
Alex moved away with the matriarch, leaving to have whatever this small talk was. He could see the tortoise from before following close by too, without coming too close.
“Is something wrong?” Alex asked with a worried look. Surely there wasn’t a problem this close to when he was finally getting his reward.
“No, nothing is wrong,” she quickly said. “It’s just that I need you to swear an oath that you will not divulge any secrets you find inside to anyone else.”
Alex paused for a moment, taking in her words. “Is that all? I swear that whatever I learn inside the ancestral pool will remain with me. I will speak of it to no one else.”
The matriarch watched as the oath settled onto Alex and gave a slow nod.
“That’s all. Thank you.”
Alex saw the other tortoise that was close by leave once he said the oath. The beast had apparently been there to watch him speak the oath.
“Am I the only one being asked to speak the oath?” Alex asked with a curious look. “Or does everyone else have to speak the oath as well?”
“Just you,” the matriarch said.
“I see.”
Alex wondered what secret it was they were trying to keep. It had to be something big to make him swear an oath, but he couldn’t see why he had to be the only one to speak the oath too.
“Why don’t the others speak an oath?” Alex asked. “Surely there is the danger of some of the other beasts divulging the information inside as well.”
“There is none,” the matriarch said. “The young beasts don’t fit the requirement before the oath is to be made.”
“Their cultivation base?” Alex asked. “Don’t Immortal beasts too go through the evolution process?”
“It’s not their cultivation base that’s relevant, but rather their senses. Anytime someone with a strong spiritual sense enters, we make them say the oath. Although, that ends up being absolutely no one since only weaker beasts use the pool.”
Alex raised an eyebrow. “I am only an Immortal too.”
The matriarch chuckled. “You are no mere Immortal. Your senses are strong enough to be considered Divine sense. It just needs to undergo the change during the birth of your Creation.”
Alex gave a subtle nod. “Since I’ve said the oath, can I enter now?”
“Yes,” the matriarch said, taking Alex back toward the platform. “Remember, do not interfere with the children’s evolution. Do not disturb them or obstruct any aura they may be channeling. It is crucial that they aren’t disturbed.”
Alex nodded.
“And of course, this is obvious, but just in case you were thinking
about it, do not enter the pool yourself. Stay on the outside.”
Alex grinned a little. “I wasn’t thinking of doing that at all.”
Alex had considered doing that, but in the past few days, he had given
up on that idea. Since he had learned how bloodlines could be improved by taking in the blood, he had long since planned on absorbing the Black Tortoise’s bloodline himself.
However, if he succeeded somehow, doing so would very likely alert
the matriarch and the rest that he now had their bloodline, which would come with its own issues.
Alex’s only reasoning for taking their bloodline was to improve his Water and Earth root, which he could do after he left. While the matriarch had ordered him to give away the condensed blood, she had no idea how much he had created anyway, so he had managed to
keep some for himself.
Once he was gone from the Land of the Blessed Sun, he would use those blood on himself and improve his spirit roots as much as he could, hopefully reaching Supreme grade with both of them.
