Chapter 3113 A Greater Clarity
Chapter 3113 A Greater Clarity
Pearl noticed the incoming lightning bolt and knew he could not fight back. Space shrunk around him in the other direction from where the man was. Pearl took one step to the side and appeared dozens of meters away at once, completely out of the zone of the previous attack.
Having narrowly dodged being blasted with a strong bolt of lightning, Pearl could only take a deep breath and get ready for more. There was no time to relax in this fight.
Even as he fell into another fighting stance, he tried to find out if he could win this fight or not.
The man before him had a cultivation base somewhere in the upper Immortal Transcendent realm. Given the talent most Heavenly Beasts had, his battle power would surely put him leagues above Pearl.
All this time, he had fought others that were leagues beyond him, but he had only managed to defeat them by overwhelming their attention with his constant teleportation.
This man, however, was an Azure Dragon. Just like a White Tiger was born with the ability to improve their Body Cultivation along with their Qi Cultivation, an Azure Dragon was born with the power to teleport.
He would be used to training against other opponents that used the power of teleportation too, so defeating him with it would be near impossible.
In that case, was there any way he could defeat him?

Alex struggled to learn much from the Azure Dragon’s blood. In fact, he even struggled to learn if there was much he could learn from it. There was nothing for him to reference, nothing different for him to compare it to.
And the constant use of it was not helping him. The blood was getting weaker by the day, losing much of its connection since he wasn’t focused on conserving it.
The blood aura within it worked hard to preserve the blood from deteriorating the moment it came away from someone’s body, but that blood aura could only last for so long, especially when analyzed thoroughly.
Alex didn’t immediately have to worry about it being unusable, but over time, he would have to keep in mind the weakening blood.
While most of it seemed negative, Alex was sure he had discovered something interesting about the Azure Dragons. Whether it was something positive or not, he wasn’t sure just yet.
The blood was never what mattered. It was always the soul.
It felt strange to come to a conclusion he already knew about, but learning what he could from the blood allowed him greater clarity on the concept.
There were exactly three things or sets of things that one received from an Azure Dragon’s bloodline. It was, in a way, the same for the other Heavenly Beasts too.
The first was the bloodline techniques that came down from the progenitor. Those techniques were something the progenitor had carved into their bloodline with their intent, with the expectation of passing it down through the generations.
Almost all beasts did that without realizing it, which was where most bloodline powers came from.
The second thing was the Supreme-grade Spirit Root. In the Azure Dragon’s case, it was the Supreme-grade Wood Spirit Root.
Lastly, and most importantly, it was the inherent ability that came with the bloodline. In the Azure Dragon’s case, it was their ability to teleport.
The Supreme-grade Spirit Root and the inherent ability were the blessings the gods had given to the Heavenly Beasts. It was what had made them all rise so high.
This thought process had led him to a curious thought. Could a beast be called an Azure Dragon if it had the inherent power to teleport and a Supreme-grade Wood Spirit Root?
It was not like the Azure Dragon progenitor was given his abilities from the start, so the techniques surely didn’t matter, right?
That was not a question Alex could answer by himself, especially given how subjective it sounded even to him. This was no different from asking if water was wet or if it made other things wet. However, that did lead him to his next and most important thought.
Neither the inherent ability of the Azure Dragon nor the Supreme-grade Spirit Root required a great change in Pearl’s bloodline. What he needed instead was a soul that could allow for
such a thing to exist.
So long as he altered Pearl’s soul to accompany those two things, would he be any different from an Azure Dragon?
All this time, Alex had thought that he needed to fix Pearl’s soul to allow him to regain his bloodline. But now, he had come to realize that altering Pearl’s soul itself would be what created his bloodline.
It wouldn’t be the Azure Dragon’s bloodline per se, but it would be the same. The only thing it would really be missing would be the vow the Heavenly Beasts were chained with, which he would be glad not to put on Pearl.
So, the thing he needed to do for Pearl was find a way to give him those two things.
‘Easier said than done,’ Alex thought. ‘I know next to nothing about souls. How am I even supposed to begin to alter it to give those two specific powers?”
The Ancestral Bloodline Pools surely did something similar that altered a beast’s soul during their evolution process, but unless he got direct access to the pool and understood how it worked, it was unlikely he was going to gain any understanding.
‘Without it, I can only rely on their blood, Alex thought. ‘But that is going to take a long time to learn from.’
He dipped his finger in the pool of blood inside Memory and brought
it out, smelling the scent of iron that came off it into the air. The red blood dried on his finger, cracking and peeling into flakes as he tried to understand some more.
‘I need variety,’ he thought and stared far away where Pearl fought the blue-haired man, wondering if he should go to that fight.
Thankfully, he didn’t need to.
A blue-haired older woman walked out from behind a tree right where he was.
