Chapter 3061: The Council of Gods
Chapter 3061: The Council of Gods
According to Shen Yaojia, Steelheart had died due to Qi Deviation while he was cultivating. It had happened during closed cultivation, so she hadn’t realized he had passed away for several months.
The news itself would take years to reach Steelmind, so she was going to take care of the funeral herself since she could not wait for Steelmind to arrive in time.
Steelmind knew that to be the truth and sighed. He wished to visit Shen Yaojia and bid his farewell to his brother, but this letter from the Sky God seemed important as well.
After a while, he decided to visit the Court of Gods first and then go to the Spirit Blossom Realm.
The travel from the Golden Dao Realm to the Sky God’s Palace took no more than three months at best. With the seriousness of the situation, he and the other gods were given express passage through the teleportation realms, slowed by months only because they chose to wait for the others to arrive so they could make the same teleportation and not waste the Divine Spirit Vein that was used to power it.
Upon arriving, Steelmind was once again made to wait for more gods to arrive. This time around, Steelmind toured the city that was the Sky God’s Palace and found himself surprised by a display of artifacts and treasures that had not been there before.
Upon asking around, the Sky God’s disciple revealed that this was a collection of the greatest treasures of humanity, put on display to show humanity’s might. The woman seemed to believe no one would dare steal these treasures since they were in the Sky God’s Palace, and nowhere in the world was anything more secure.
This time, Steelmind didn’t have to spend too long a time before the council formed—merely months.
Steelmind got to meet a few more gods, including a new Defense God replacing the recently deceased Barrier God. He heard that no War God was chosen in the last council, primarily because no one could truly follow up on what the Hell Emperor was capable of doing.
Had it not been for the demons’ targeted assault while sacrificing many of their own, the man likely would not have lost many battles.
The Hell Emperor was a master of both commanding the army and fighting with them, so finding a replacement for him was nearly impossible. His two disciples, Sandsworn and Hellspawn, were both talented but only in one aspect. As a result, the council had decided not to make either of them gods just yet.
If they could prove themselves in the war, then maybe a decision would be made to make both of them gods.
Steelmind also heard about a woman who had come close to becoming a Celestial. She went by the name Snowchild and had the capacity to become a god. However, with the Ice God still alive, she would have to challenge her to win, and for some reason, no one seemed to think Snowchild was capable of defeating the Ice God even if she became a Celestial.
The Sky God quickly commenced the council, starting by listing many recently deceased individuals they had to honor and whose treasures were now being displayed outside. He had decided to increase the morale of the soldiers in the war by giving them a chance to choose a treasure they wanted based on their contribution.
They would need a lot of contribution to gain any treasure that was being displayed in the open, but there were weaker treasures they could get right now.
The Sword God took the chance to speak of a finding he had made.
“There are recordings of the Fiend’s battle with the Undying God. It was brought to my attention just a few years before I came here. I’ve left my people to try and deduce what they can from those recordings, but I would be happy if anyone else would be willing to give the recordings a watch and see what they can figure out.”
The other gods were surprised by the Sword God’s words. It had been nearly two hundred thousand years since the Fiend died, so having a recording of his final battle finally surface was a shocking fact. Such records should have long since either degraded or been lost in the war.
“Anyone willing to help?” the Sky God asked, but most didn’t say anything.
The Sword God’s head turned toward the pale-faced woman who remained silent all this time.
“Death God, if you will, could you come with us when we return?” he asked. “I believe the mysteries of Death Aura might be related to what the Fiend was capable of doing.”
Duskcorpse, the Death God, raised her eyebrows slightly.
She looked paler now than what Steelmind remembered, although she didn’t seem to have aged a day. She had become a god at the same time as him nearly fifty thousand years ago, and he had changed enough to be considered in the latter stages of middle age. In another hundred thousand years, he was sure he would have a head full of gray hairs.
He was already 250 thousand years old after all.
Steelmind looked at Duskcorpse for a bit, feeling the strange aura coming from her that he now understood to be Death Aura. He had heard about her situation—how she was born with a body that constantly generated Death Aura. He wondered what sort of issues she faced daily because of her body.
Duskcorpse accepted a few seconds later, and the council resumed.
A few more gods spoke before the conversation slowly returned to the war and the assault in the Forest Moon Realm.
“That is why we’ve brought you all here to discuss,” the Sky God said. “We attacked the Forest Moon Realm, believing it to be a site of demonic practice where they were sacrificing others to better their cultivation. However, what we found there was even more strange.”
Everyone looked toward the old god.
“We found a tree that makes Qi,” the god said. “The locals call it the World Tree.”
