Chapter 2965: Out of the Hall
Chapter 2965: Out of the Hall
Alex told Bai Jingshen everything he could think of regarding his current situation. Everything he knew of the Sun God’s recent appearance, including the time he had now forgotten when he had gone mad, was now laid before the two in front of him.
Pearl stared with a slightly agape face, not knowing what to say.
Bai Jingshen lowered his eyes in thought. He remained silent for a while before he started speaking.
“Do you know what your next step is then?” Bai Jingshen asked. “What must you do to finally evolve your body?”
“I’m not sure,” Alex answered. “But whatever it is, I’m hoping it exists in the Sun’s Talon realm.”
Bai Jingshen frowned a bit. “I’ve never heard of the Sun’s Talon realm being of much importance. Of the three beasts’ realms, it is perhaps the least developed one. The beasts that live there are also more primitive in nature, squabbling over territories and whatnot.”
“It is called the Sun’s Talon, so I would assume it has some significance to the sun,” Alex said.
“Maybe,” Bai Jingshen said. “There is a large gash on the surface of the Sun’s Talon that stretches all across the continent. It is believed to be the result of a beast using its talon to claw away the land.”
“A beast with talons?” Alex asked. “A Dragon?”
“I don’t think we know, but there are records that speak of this event. If the records are correct, the talon belongs to a bird,” Bai Jingshen said. “As far as I know, there are only so many beings with the strength to make that happen.”
Alex narrowed his eyes in thought for a moment before they slightly widened. “Are you speaking of the Primordials?” he asked.
“I am,” Bai Jingshen said.
“Primordial birds,” Alex thought. “The Nine-headed Phoenix, the Midnight Phoenix, the Roc, and the Three-legged Crow; was it one of those that caused the gash there?”
“I cannot say for certain,” Bai Jingshen said. “As you said, it could have entirely been a dragon too, in which case it could entirely be one of the Primordial dragons too. There’s the Dragon Turtle, the Yellow Dragon, the Flood Dragon, and the Flying Rain Dragon.”
Alex scratched his chin as he fell into thought. “I wonder then what there could be that is making the Sun God ask me to visit it.”
Bai Jingshen shrugged. He couldn’t think of anything in particular.
“I’m more confused how the Sun God is even talking with you,” Bai Jingshen said. “Has he always been inside of you, hidden away in wait? Or has he only just noticed you and decided to help you since you’re so close to reaching the next stage of your body?”
Alex had no way of telling which one of the two was more possible. Maybe he would later, maybe he would not. It didn’t feel important to know as of then.
“Sitting around won’t tell us anything,” Alex said. “I will have to prepare to go to Sun’s Talon, but perhaps not right away.”
“Do you want to wait?” Bai Jingshen asked.
“For a small period of time, yes,” Alex said. “I want to reach the Immortal Transcendent realm before I do any of that. Just in case there is something destructive, I need to take care of the situation with Godslayer, and maybe begin absorbing some aura.”
“I want to go with you too, brother,” Pearl said. “So I need to first be done with my trial.”
“That too,” Alex said. “Maybe we should take Scarlet too. Has there been any message from her?”
“No,” Bai Jingshen said. “She has yet to reply.”
“Hmm, we should go meet her soon then,” Alex said.
“If you do plan on doing that, you will have to wait for a short time,” Bai Jingshen said. “We have to deal with Pearl’s situation first.”
“The trial?” Alex asked. “I thought there was still some time to go.”
“No, not the trial,” Bai Jingshen said. “His meeting with the Azure Dragons. I believe the patriarch has recently received a message regarding that, so they will soon leave to meet with the Azure Dragon’s patriarch.”
“Oh!” Alex said with a surprised look. “I see. That is slightly more significant. Any idea what their response is like? I remember the Azure Dragon we met not being too happy with what he had been told.”
“I don’t have any clue as of yet,” Bai Jingshen said. “I can’t imagine they’re too happy just yet. More importantly, I worry how they will deal with the news. While Pearl’s birth is more or less a miracle, his lack of bloodline may cause them to not give much thought to him. We’ll have to wait and see how they react and it might be very soon.”
Alex sighed. “We can never have a moment of peace, can we?” he asked. “We’re done with one issue and we end up with another.”
Bai Jingshen said, “You don’t have to worry about this one at least. You have enough to worry about already.”
He stood up. “We should leave. We can’t remain in this hall for too long.”
Alex nodded and the three walked out. The lines of guards still waited on either side, unmoving as they walked away. They turned the corner and arrived back out at the garden.
Alex’s eyes turned toward the mural on the wall once again, all thoughts that were gone until then returning with greater effect. Now that he looked at the face of the man with the halo behind him, he could tell that it was meant to be the Sun God.
He walked along in silence, looking back at the mural all over again. He stared from the orb that he thought was a pill, following back to the depiction of the five beasts getting blessed.
Once again, he noticed something strange about the mural that he couldn’t place his fingers on quite just yet. He continued staring at it for a long time before he realized what was wrong.
“Oh!” Alex said with a sudden shout. “These are two separate murals!”
