Chapter 866: Chapter 714: Collision Begins
Fire Raven didn’t glance at Shadow Scorpion; he wouldn’t be swayed by the provocations of fools.
His gaze swept once more over the burning grass surrounding Iron Claw. Aside from a few leeches that had escaped deeper into the bush and swiftly vanished, he found no traces of other enemies.
His sight moved beyond the blazing wall of fire, towards the distant gray ribbon-like road, his pupils narrowing slightly again:
"Captain, vehicles are coming from the direction of Second Prison. Target located, in the back seat of the second vehicle, by the right window."
As the words fell, several men looked towards the road.
The captain glanced over, then withdrew his gaze indifferently, looking towards Iron Claw’s direction.
Even with several miles between them, and beside a wall of fire radiating intense heat, Iron Claw felt a chilling iciness claw up his spine, causing him to shudder.
He hurriedly explained:
"Ca...Captain! There was an unexpected incident! A damned corpse thief stole the body I left in the car.
But he definitely hasn’t gone far and is hiding in this grassy area! I’ll soon drag him out!"
The target had already appeared, yet Iron Claw’s mind was still fixated on the corpse thief, truly intolerably foolish.
Shadow Scorpion let out a mocking laugh.
The captain’s gaze swept around the bush, the dense and vigorous growth almost reaching over his head.
His mind raced, then he ordered:
"I don’t care who’s hiding in the bush, Fire Raven, you handle long-range support, assist Iron Claw, find and eliminate them for me."
Fire Raven nodded, the snakeskin sniper rifle on his right arm slightly adjusting its angle, the ghostly blue pattern flowing once more in a faint ripple:
"Yes, Captain!"
The captain continued:
"Shadow Scorpion, Fortress, you two execute the original plan for intercepting the convoy. Remember what I said before departure..."
"Understood!/Received!"
Two voices almost simultaneously rang out.
Fortress’ voice was as deep as thunder, whereas Shadow Scorpion’s voice carried a hint of eager ruthlessness.
In the next moment, two figures rushed towards the road, one after the other.
Their speed was astounding, and as they dove into the tall grass, optical camouflage ripples arose on the surface of their bodies, rapidly distorting and fading, seemingly merging with the swaying grass and dim atmosphere.
The captain himself did not explain what he planned to do next.
He simply strolled leisurely into the bush, disappearing in an instant, leaving it uncertain whether he activated optical camouflage or merely got swallowed by the sea of grass.
Lagging slightly behind, several drones that were hovering invisibly above the grass finally captured a few figures emerging suddenly from an abandoned gas station nearly 2 kilometers away.
The high-precision multispectral sensor arrays under their fuselages simultaneously detected unusual peaks in energy eruption below.
"Warning! High-energy reaction detected at coordinates xxx, yyy. Energy concentration speed abnormal, energy level determined—B-level danger! Immediate evasion or defense measures recommended!"
"Warning! Large-scale heat source pattern growth anomalous, inconsistent with characteristics of natural combustion! Firewall extension and heat distribution have established a 3D model, ongoing monitoring!"
"Danger: Non-natural, high threat, preliminary marking as enemy."
"Enemy number detection recognition in progress, identified unknown enemy count—3!"
The micro bone conduction earpieces of all Worries Relief Studio members simultaneously emitted the cold electronic synthetic sound of the tactical AI Intelligent Brain Xiaoyou.
In fact, Xiaoyou’s reminder was hardly necessary.
The sudden rise and straight extension of the raging firewall, spanning several miles, served as the most obvious danger signal amidst the darkness like a lighthouse.
However, their professional combat skills and strict training prevented them from relying solely on visual observation and instinctive reaction.
Almost simultaneously with Xiaoyou’s first warning, hidden in various corners within the grass, the Worries Relief Studio team members lifted their hands reflexively, quickly tapping on the metal side frame of the tactical glasses covering half their face.
"Buzz—" A light
vibration sensation emanated from their temples.
The lens’ normal view was instantly switched; a faint blue interface flashed by, quickly connecting to real-time reconnaissance footage from high-altitude drones.
Yet the images that appeared in their glasses caused a slight pause.
In the footage, there was only a dilapidated abandoned gas station, walls mottled, pump rusted, the roof empty, with only a few tenacious weeds swaying in the wind.
Surrounding was an endless ocean of yellow-green dense grass swaying with the wind, and beyond this, no other activity was visible.
The unusually fierce burning firewall, neatly edged mysteriously, danced fiercely at the frame’s boundary, twisting the air, yet seemingly appearing from nowhere, with no sign of the arsonist.
Where did the enemy go?
Fortunately, not being detectable by eye or conventional optical sensors didn’t mean Intelligent Brain Xiaoyou, equipped with various cutting-edge detection technologies, was helpless.
"Enemy trace detected."
Xiaoyou’s voice echoed again, lacking emotional fluctuations yet imparting an immense sense of trustworthiness,
"Confirmed enemy unit is in high-level optical stealth state; physical visual capture confirmed as failed, attempting to initiate multispectrum scanning and stealth mode decryption program."
In the temporary command center inside the bungalow a few kilometers away.
Zhang Shenyi’s hands left the keyboard, crossed before his chin, his body slightly inclined forward, eyes fixed on the "empty" area on the screen.
