Epic of Ice Dragon: Reborn As An Ice Dragon With A System

Chapter 2234: Celebrations

Chapter 2234: Celebrations

"Just who were you talking with?" Miranda wondered, walking to my side.

"Ah..." I muttered. "Would you believe me if I told you it was the Venerable of Dwarves from the past? He revived."

"...?" Miranda raised an eyebrow, looking utterly confused.

"Wait, what?!" Benladann called from behind. "Really? That little dwarf?"

"He was," I nodded. "Come on, I’ll explain things on the way... Amethyst and Triton, you saw everything, right?"

"I saw something..." Amethyst said. "But I couldn’t quite tell what you were talking about. It was all muted."

"Yeah..." Triton nodded.

"Hmm, so that’s how it is, huh?" I wondered, rubbing my chin. "Okay then, let’s go."

I explained things to them as we moved forward, and they quickly learned more about this dwarf and his plan to become my ally. Once we returned to the castle, we were greeted by a dozen soldiers, the king, the queen, and even Charlotte.

They were all amazed and happy, having watched the entire event from inside the castle. They saw the battles, how we repaired the bridge, and how we made the weird distortions disappear, although a few skyscrapers remained here and there, but those were just small details.

"Congratulations, heroes! You have done something incredible!" the king said.

"Thank you so much! We cannot believe what you’ve done! We are so grateful!" the queen said.

"You guys were amazing!" Charlotte said happily. "Just what the hell was that?! It was awesome!"

"It wasn’t that much, but it’s a job well done," I said with a confident nod.

"Please come with us. The entire kingdom has gathered around the castle to celebrate this!" the king said, grabbing my arm and dragging me along.

"Ah, wait! This is a bit unnecessary..." I sighed as I ended up in front of a giant crowd.

"Here he is, our hero! Lord Drake, the new Venerable born in this era! Spread his name everywhere! Dragon King Drake!" the dwarven king said. "He has destroyed the menace from the other world and closed the cracks in space! The bridge is once more usable!"

"O O O O O O H H H H H H !"

Hundreds of thousands of people cheered for me, and I felt a little taken aback by the sheer number of people in this damned country. It was way more than a million.

"Please, do you have any words?" the king asked me.

"Hm." I thought about it for a while. "No, there’s nothing for me to say."

I really didn’t have anything to say to the general public. It was better to keep most things a secret, if possible.

And I wasn’t the most charismatic with crowds.

I mean, I can try, but it’s not my thing.

"Eh? N-Nothing?" The king thought I had some sort of speech in mind.

"No," I said. "Anyway, bye."

I walked away without saying another word. I had nothing else to do here, to be honest. However, the queen, the king, and then Charlotte grabbed my arms again, dragging me along.

"Come on, Drake, don’t be like that. Come and eat with us! Mom and dad made you a huge feast!" she said.

"Hmm, a feast, you say?" I wondered. "Alright, fine."

I walked back with everyone else, my friends and family joining in a massive feast in the castle’s gardens, where dwarven and desert elf chefs brought new plates of food every ten minutes to satiate our dragon appetites.

Dwarven food was quite alright, although it was mostly meat, roots, potatoes, rice, and bread, with barely any fruit or salad. They seemed to love eating meat above all else, which I guess was fine for us dragons, but it definitely wouldn’t be a balanced diet overall.

I suppose every race has its food preferences, which only made this world and its people more interesting and fascinating to me.

Chris Bluefield, Lucia, and Jake were able to eat at this feast as well, as the rulers apologized to them for their poor treatment and expressed their gratitude for having helped save their kingdom.

"We are sincerely sorry for how we mistreated you..." the king said.

"Indeed, you’ve fought hard to protect our homeland, so you deserve all our respect," the queen nodded.

"A-Ahhh, it’s fine, I guess. Even though we weren’t treated too well, it made sense. You were afraid of the virus. People on Earth wouldn’t have handled it any better," Chris said.

"At least you didn’t kill us and kept us alive, feeding us. Even though it was very crude food, we’ve been living on whatever we found, sometimes not eating at all, so eating three meals a day was reinvigorating," Lucia pointed out.

"Hm," Jake nodded. He didn’t really say anything. This guy is really quite silent most of the time until he suddenly speaks in very long sentences out of nowhere.

I can’t believe I have a brother-in-law now! I guess I’ll have to get used to this guy being around.

I mean, he’s not bad at all. He’s kind of cool, I think.

Hey, I like his powers.

That’s something, right?

The feast became a huge festival with songs, music, and people celebrating and dancing right outside the castle walls.

They laughed, chatted, and seemed very happy. It appeared that the economy of Vanagate had been stagnating ever since the bridge was clogged with those distortions, so everyone could finally resume their business.

Eventually, as night arrived and things calmed down a little, we decided to spend the night here and depart tomorrow morning. It was getting late, and I wasn’t going to force my family and friends to keep moving.

I wanted to go right away, but I guess the end of the world can wait another day? I hope so.

The king and queen happily gave all of us lodging inside the castle, which had dozens of vacant rooms ready to use, so everyone got to stay in these fancy suites.

Though those in my castle were fancier!
