"Aaaaggh!"
Amethyst lost the match of power as she was blown away by a space-distorting explosion of dark psychic energy. She roared angrily at her foe and then quickly flew back, summoning dozens of crystal swords and attacking him with them.
"HMPH!"
However, the Mutated Esper, who was focused on destroying the barrier to escape, quickly swung his sword once more. This time, his psychic powers surged even more strongly, releasing a storm of slicing waves that turned Amethyst’s swords into rubble.
"This is getting me nowhere. I’ll kill you first, eat you, and then with that power I’ll destroy this barrier and escape!"
The Mutated Esper rushed toward Amethyst as the girl swung her divine Archetype Sword against him, unleashing her Archetype Skills in quick succession.
"{Dawnlight Flames}! {Vengeful Dawnstrike}!"
Golden flames surged, fusing with her sword as she swung it down. A cleaving wave of holy light and golden flames erupted, destroying the Mutated Esper’s dark psychic energy and forcing it back to where it came from.
BOOOM!
"You’ve done it now...! I’m pissed."
The Mutated Esper, however, emerged from the smoke. His armor was cracked and fell apart, but his body didn’t look all that bruised yet, despite taking a direct hit from her strongest attack.
"You’re kidding me?!" Amethyst gasped. "Archetypes are also weakened by that weird power?!"
As she looked at the Mutated Esper, his power surged rapidly. He rushed toward her within a split second, blitzing through the skies. His black armor regrew with sharp spikes everywhere, his sword transforming into a giant, spike-covered mace.
Amethyst gritted her teeth, feeling the pressure of his psychic power. She released all she had, swinging her sword against him while manifesting a giant shield and armor out of Jord’s divine powers.
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
Both clashed against one another with immense force and intensity. Shockwaves spread everywhere, shaking the entire sky above them. Amethyst was rapidly being pushed back as well. The Mutated Esper’s psychic power and physical strength were an incredibly deadly combination.
"Amethyst! I don’t think you can handle this guy. He’s really way too strong for you!"
"We beat Umbral back then! Why wouldn’t we be able to defeat this bastard?!"
"Umbral’s battle was different. Drake also weakened him a lot, you know? And above all, he didn’t have this strange power this being has...! It’s as if my own power is being partially negated..."
"So you feel it too? It’s weird. All the beings from that world have it, but this one in particular seems to have it at a very high level...!"
As Jord and Amethyst talked telepathically through their soul bond, something her foe could not read with his psychic powers, her sword and his mace clashed. An explosion of bright golden flames and shadowy psychic energies erupted, shaking their surroundings.
"You’re so persistent...! JUST DIE!"
"No!"
The Mutated Esper roared angrily, his mace gathering all his power at once. He swung down with full force, hitting Amethyst with all he had.
Amethyst, on the other hand, intercepted the blow as well as she could, unleashing an explosion of her previous Archetype Skill, but this time releasing it at the correct moment.
BOOOMMM!!!
A massive explosion of darkness and light erupted. Both foes were sent flying away, while Amethyst felt her armor and shield breaking apart. Jord’s weapons had already reached their maximum durability.
"Not bad... you’re strong... but not enough... I want you... your scales and flesh will be mine."
The Mutated Esper’s face twisted in strange pleasure as he suddenly overflowed with power. His black armor grew even larger and more monstrous, sprouting another pair of arms and two more heads.
Each hand manifested yet another weapon out of flesh and bones, overflowing with psychic powers.
His strength had suddenly tripled once more.
"You’re kidding me?!" Amethyst’s eyes twitched in disbelief as the Mutated Esper reached her, kicking her stomach with both of his legs, equipped with sharp, bony armor.
CLAAASH!
This was followed by him swinging all his weapons at her, attacking from every angle, destroying her scales and tearing through her skin constantly.
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
"UUAAAAGH!"
Amethyst roared, her Aura erupting as she grew desperate. Her Archetype manifested but was constantly flickering, appearing and disappearing. She was running out of steam.
In an act of desperation, her body harnessed her divinity and rapidly increased the speed at which she regenerated. What’s more, from her wounds, giant crystals surged. Her own blood was...
It was crystallized!
"HM?!"
CRASH!
The Mutated Esper was caught off guard as a sharp crystal spear pierced through his armor and reached his chest, leaving a bleeding hole as he groaned in pain.
"Nnnggh! You...!"
"Eh? I-I can do that?!"
Amethyst wasn’t even aware of all her abilities. Crystallizing her own blood and flesh was not something she expected could ever awaken at all.
What’s more, it seemed that crystals made from her own blood were much tougher than the ones that could grow from her scales for some reason.
However, she had just learned how to do it and lacked mastery over the skill. But that didn’t stop her. Her bloody wounds quickly gathered, and crimson crystals emerged from her entire body.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
"W-Wha...?!"
The Mutated Esper was surprised as several sharp blows pierced through his multi-layered armor like a hot knife through butter. But he still had the advantage. His stamina and strength seemed far superior to Amethyst’s, who was exhausted.
"ENOUGH WITH YOUR GAMES!"
His aura shook, hitting Amethyst like a truck and sending her flying down. His giant arms swung their weapons, hitting her entire body, destroying her blood crystals, and attempting to dig through her chest to eat her heart while she was still alive.
"Bastard! You...! Ugh...! Don’t you dare-"
"RUUUUAAAAHHH!"
RUMBLE!
In that moment of struggle, Amethyst’s eyes widened as she heard a monstrous yet familiar roar. A large figure emerged, smashing her foe away with a single punch, sending him flying into the skies and making him strike the barrier.
