“C-Coral?! Is that you?! Coral!”

Amidst his consciousness slowly fading, the young man’s eyes widened, from one thing to another, he saw all his enemies frozen instantly, incapable of moving, and then he heard the cry of an old friend, running towards him after having descended from the skies like an angel.

“I-Is that you…?”

His eyes glanced at the girl, it was exactly her, with her shiny golden eyes, her long white hair, her pale blue skin, her little dragon wings were now big, her long tail, large golden horns, and the claws and white scales around several areas of her body. However, this time, she was much older than the last time he saw her, it has been years after all, and she had changed so much, yet even then, her eyes and her smile were the same.

“Benladra…?”

“It’s me! Coral, you’ve grown so much! Let me heal you- What is this circle? A formation?!”

Benladra! Coral knew her, she was the daughter of Drake, the Dragon King, a savior of his land that had come here years ago and saved them from a great calamity, the Deep One, who had brainwashed their Queen and Princess and had brought almost the destruction of the entire island.

Benladra, Kate, Benladann, Miranda, everyone… Coral remembered them, Drake’s family, his beloved family as well as his friends! After he had given up all hope, they appeared.

Crack, crack…!

CRASH!

The entire magical formation shattered into pieces as Benladra used her bare hands to twist it and break it, Coral’s eyes widened, the weight and the chains over his body disappeared, and a cold sensation of relief encompassed his entire body, his burns and wounds disappearing, his pain finally gone.

“Alright, it’s done! Do you feel any better, Coral? It has been years! I’m so sad we had to reunite like this…”

“Yeah, it has been… some time, but not that long for you to grow so much?!”

“Ahh, heheh, well, I spent a lot of time inside of my father’s divine realm, so time goes faster there, and I aged faster than the time that passed!”

“It has only been two years, almost three years, but it seems you aged over ten years…”

“Well, ice giants and dragons age quickly!”

“Benladra…”

Coral smiled, after finally calming down and realizing he was safe, he hugged Benladra without hesitation, making her feel embarrassed.

“I missed you.”

“Uwah?! I-I missed you too… Heheh…”

Benladra blushed a little as she was hugged, she was already at that age where she had begun to find boys her age attractive, and Coral was quite the looker.

She nervously patted his back, as Coral heard the footsteps of someone approaching, or well, a lot of people.

“Looks like you’re as reckless as ever, Coral. Hi.”

“Huh?!”

Coral’s eyes widened once more as he saw a cute girl, only looking two years younger than Benladra, with short silver hair and gray eyes, and pale blue skin with metallic, silver-colored scales around her body, tiny dragon wings and a dragon tail, alongside dragon horns made of steel.

“K-Kate?! Is that you? You also grew up a lot…”

“Yes, it’s me. It has been a long time… I’m glad to be back, although I’m rather sad about what has happened to your island… we were looking forward to taking it easy here, but I suppose we can’t.”

“Hmm, we’ll have to interrogate those soldiers I just froze.”

A taller man stepped forward, the father of the two gorgeous dragon princesses, with long silver hair, sharp rainbow eyes, a manly, handsome face, and a short silvery-white beard, a pair of enormous silvery blue scaled dragon wings covered the sun behind his back, while he also had a long tail, and a crown made of various golden and silver horns above his head, while wearing regal white and blue robes.

This imposing man, which seemed to be slightly older than the younger one he remembered, was the girl’s father and the Dragon King, Drake. Indeed, to the young Merman, it felt like these people had lived far longer than just three years in this time… it felt like they had lived through decades.

“Hello Coral, nice to meet you again. We caught you in quite the pickle, eh? You’ve sure grown bigger. You look stronger as well. What happened here?”

“L-Lord Drake…?!”

“Just call me Uncle or something, no need for formalities, son,” Drake said with a gentle smile, his aura irradiating so much power that the Drake Coral knew was, but an ant compared to the man in front of him.

Somehow, there wasn’t an aura of intimidating draconian power as before, his aura felt calm, composed, all-encompassing, Coral felt stronger by just looking at this man, he felt better.

The world didn’t seem so bad anymore.

And then, he started crying.

“C-Coral?!”

Benladra panicked as she saw him crying, still on the floor.

“Please… Lord Drake… Help us! We’ve trained so hard, we’ve grown so strong, and yet those bastards…! They came out of nowhere, invading our lands! They destroyed our homes, they pillaged our food, they imprisoned the Queen, her daughter, and the Priestess, and even her son, our friend, Triton…! He’s…! We were unable to help him…!”

Drake remained in silence as he heard Coral’s plea, his face remaining stoic, as he walked towards the young man, offering him his large hand.

“Stand up, son.”

“…”

Coral slowly held his hand, standing up and facing the man, three times taller than he was.

“I am well aware that there’s something going on here, and I came as quickly as I could just to help. The Dungeon Gate I had left here was also destroyed by the spatial distortions, so I was unable to teleport here easily, I owe you an apology.”

“So that’s why…”

“Don’t worry, now that we are here, we’ll help you out. Tell me what happened here. And is Rose alright, and the other kids of the orphanage?”

“Y-Yeah… since you left that the orphanage moved to a larger building in the noble district, they’re under strict surveillance from those soldiers, but they’re fine… although I heard the soldiers saying they were going to use them for experiments soon… we have to hurry and save them!”

“Calm down, Coral,” Benladra sighed, patting his shoulders. “Let’s take it one step at a time first, alright? This place… the archipelago changed quite a bit, huh?”

“Yes… it began a week ago…” Coral muttered. “Our peaceful lives… they were interrumpted by a crack in the sky, and then, a earthquake.”
