Chapter 1331: The First Lunar New Year’s Eve After Marriage (19)

Of course, from the very start that so-called "communication" already put Mu Tiantian off, and then Shen Tiancheng kept saying all kinds of nasty things that grated on her ears, so the conversation she’d planned naturally fizzled out.

It was actually Shen Tiancheng who went and carried She all the way to the kitchen, then set Her down.

"This is our first New Year’s Eve after getting married. Let’s cook New Year’s dinner together!"

Mu Tiantian: "..."

Seeing the threat in Shen Tiancheng’s eyes and that leisurely, unhurried look at the corner of his mouth, Mu Tiantian pressed Her lips together and gave a soft "mm."

"I’ll cook, you go over there and rest!"

Rather than saying She wanted Shen Tiancheng to rest in the living room, it was more accurate to say Mu Tiantian simply didn’t want to be around him.

How could Shen Tiancheng not see through Mu Tiantian’s little thoughts? The corner of his mouth curled as he smiled, wicked to the extreme.

"How could that be okay? I already said this is our first New Year’s Eve after marriage. This New Year’s dinner has to be cooked by the two of us together, that’s the only way it feels loving!"

Loving?

She was his enemy’s ex-wife, forced into divorcing under threats; how could he possibly think She had any love for him?

Mu Tiantian couldn’t make sense of Shen Tiancheng’s logic, but She also knew Shen Tiancheng and Bai Chenyao were similar in some ways—for example, they were both the type whose word was law.

After saying it once and realizing Shen Tiancheng wouldn’t agree, Mu Tiantian couldn’t be bothered to waste more words. She washed Her hands and started cooking rice.

Because Her body was still a bit tired, Mu Tiantian moved very slowly, but once Her pace slowed, Her movements looked really beautiful.

At least in Shen Tiancheng’s eyes, watching the now soft and frail-looking Mu Tiantian rinsing rice and cooking was absolutely a beautiful sight.

But he didn’t just sit around either. Once Mu Tiantian started rinsing the rice and cooking, he opened the fridge and took out the New Year’s ingredients he’d bought long ago and began messing with them.

Mu Tiantian had originally planned to completely ignore Shen Tiancheng, but when She saw how skilled he was at cleaning seafood and fish, She couldn’t help glancing at him.

It was like Shen Tiancheng had eyes in the back of his head. He chuckled and said, "You thought I couldn’t cook? It’s not like I grew up with a housekeeper aunt at home doing everything for me!"

Mu Tiantian: "..."

After he started talking, it was like he’d opened some kind of floodgate. Whether Mu Tiantian responded or not, he kept lazily chatting as he handled those especially fishy ingredients.

Rather than calling it a conversation with Mu Tiantian, it was more like he was talking to himself.

Only when he pushed Her too hard would Mu Tiantian give a slight "mm" or an "oh" to show She was listening.

Even so, Shen Tiancheng kept rambling on with great enthusiasm.

Even though it was just the two of them, once the dishes were set on the table, it was still a full spread, a big table completely covered—with everything from sea cucumber and abalone down to simple home-style stir-fried baby bok choy.

And the one holding the spatula wasn’t Mu Tiantian, it was Shen Tiancheng.

Mu Tiantian had originally been the one cooking, but because She didn’t have much strength and couldn’t keep up the pace, Shen Tiancheng had laughed, taken the spatula from Her hand, and started cooking himself.

Looking at the big table full of dishes, Mu Tiantian suddenly felt like She was back in the old days, living that little two-person world with Bai Chenyao.

But She was very clear-headed now; the person sitting across from Her wasn’t Bai Chenyao, it was Shen Tiancheng.

"Finding someone who likes you would be better than keeping your enemy’s ex-wife by your side, wouldn’t it?"

Right before the New Year’s dinner, Mu Tiantian asked Shen Tiancheng that.

Shen Tiancheng was in the middle of opening red wine. Hearing this, he curled his lips into a smile—wicked and flamboyant, like he was already used to smiling that way, or maybe he’d been born with it.
