Enlightenment: Beginning as a Disposable Warrior
Chapter 713 Forbidden Demon Fiends, Nobles and Generals
Deadman’s Pit, Demon Fiend Crystal Cores?
Su Mu’s heart stirred slightly, piquing a bit of interest, yet it was merely a fleeting curiosity rather than a determination to delve deeper, so his expression remained calm and unaffected.
He took three steps forward.
The owner of the courtyard behind the screen couldn’t sit still and appeared immediately, seeing indeed it was a Daoist clad in robes with a White Ape Mask atop his head.
“There’s no one else here. Since an honored guest has come to call, you must be interested in the matter at hand. Feel free to sit down and speak openly!”
Su Mu slowed his pace; since the other party was willing to yield, the matter could be discussed.
“Since we are to discuss, you should show sincerity.”
“I can gratuitously inform you of the second piece of information and return the earlier one hundred thousand taels, regardless of whether you decide to aid or not.”
Upon hearing this, Su Mu paused in his steps, then he turned around and surveyed the surroundings, confirming there was no third person in the courtyard, nodded, and returned to the hall.
“How can I know if what you’re about to say is true or false?”
“True or false, sir has his own judgment, moreover, merely divulging some information poses no loss to me.”
“Fine, I need to receive the information first.”
The White Ape Mask Daoist nodded lightly.
“Let’s start with the first piece then. Demons have existed in this world since ancient times, but they were first discovered in the west. The west is the birthplace of the global Buddhist Sect, and the demons capable of limb regeneration, nearly immortally, somewhat resemble the Nirvana state of Buddhist Great Cultivators to some extent. Coupled with their origin in the west, it has long been rumored that demons might have some connection with the Buddhist Sect.”
To show sincerity, the White Ape Mask Daoist first detailed the initial information sold to Su Mu.
“These demons are all extremely powerful. There are two methods to kill them despite their near immortal state. One is having strength vastly superior to the demon, repeatedly crushing them to death as even the most formidable regeneration ability has its limit.”
“Secondly, the source of the demon’s immortal power lies in its bodily structure differing from us human cultivators, naturally possessing two hearts, from which a demon crystal core emerges, which is the demon’s only vulnerable point. However, ordinary force cannot harm the demon crystal core.”
“At least, sheer brute force cannot effectively damage the demon crystal core. Only power stemming from the spirit and will can deal effective damage. Sir, as a martial artist, if you encounter demons, you must first locate their precise demon crystal core location and use pure martial momentum to strike decisively to defeat them, or even completely kill them.”
Two hearts, a Demon Fiend Crystal Core?!
Upon hearing the Daoist’s words, Su Mu trembled all over, his deep eyes slightly narrowed. At this moment, he suddenly understood the mystery of Wang Xuantian’s resurrection and why the officials of Three Counties were eager to secretly send his corpse to Qingzhou.
If Wang Xuantian himself was a demon fiend, everything would make complete sense.
Demons have two hearts; Su Mu’s spear imbued with martial momentum pierced Wang Xuantian’s left chest. It is highly likely that Wang Xuantian’s demon core wasn’t in the usual left chest but in the second heart beneath his right chest!
As for Three Counties’ officials being secretive about Wang Xuantian’s corpse, they must have noticed some clues initially but weren’t sure, hence hastily sent it to Qingzhou to curry favor.
All these align with the characteristics of demons the Daoist mentioned, and Wang Xuantian himself admitted he was a demon; thus, Wang Xuantian is exceedingly likely an actual demon fiend!
The Daoist paused here, seemingly sensing a slight change in the person before him and believed Su Mu was feeling fervent, reinforcing the belief that he came for the demon crystal core.
“Moreover, I once saw in an ancient text another speculation regarding the origin of demons, possibly linked to the Pre-Qin era.”
Pre-Qin? How is Pre-Qin involved again?
“Legend has it that the First Emperor swept through the lands, unifying the six states, gathered the Nine Tripods’ creations with the nationwide strength, and crazily merged the Nine Tripods to cast the Thirteen Bronze Men, restricting the world, then attempted to ascend with the entire dynasty. You are presumably aware of what followed.”
“The First Emperor failed, the Pre-Qin has long perished in the river of history. This second notion is that the First Emperor’s actions angered the heavens, and demons are the divine punishment; in fact, multiple sizeable demon uprisings indeed occurred in the latter Pre-Qin era.”
“The world divides into Three Religions and Nine Streams; demons naturally vary in strength. The ancient text I saw divides demons into three levels: soldier grade, colonel grade, general grade. Soldier grade demons have limited mastery over immortality and possess no additional demon divine abilities.”
“Upon reaching colonel grade, demon divine abilities awaken, enhancing masterful control over immortality, becoming exceedingly troublesome. As for general grade…they are powerful enough to terrify average Upper Three Grades Great Cultivators.”
The Daoist claims to have read related accounts in an ancient text, possessing ample knowledge about demons.
“Soldier grade demons lack divine abilities…Wang Xuantian’s method to disrupt Great Yan’s destiny—is it a form of demon divine ability? Is it soldier grade or colonel grade?”
Su Mu inwardly mused, developing a clearer assessment of Wang Xuantian’s existence.
“Yet, in rumors, above general grade, there’s a more dreadful marquis grade. Comparing these demons to our human race noble families, Holy Land, Celestial Royal Family births, they are demons’ innate higher-ups, the kings amongst demons…rumor has it these sages-level demons can hardly be killed directly, except by time itself. Once they appear, they will inevitably trigger unimaginable catastrophes, possibly signaling a dynasty’s doom!”
