Chapter 146: Viviana
Yerin leaned over the back of the pilot seat, her dark eyes blinking in dazed confusion as she stared at the text message vibrating on my phone screen.
"Wait... friend from the Underworld?" Yerin asked, tilting her head with a look of utter bewilderment. "Seth, who in the world was that giant hand with the scythe just now?"
I pulled my phone back, slipping it into my pocket with a casual chuckle. "Honestly, Yerin... that was just your biggest fan."
[Second biggest fan.]
’You ain’t fan of her work. You’re just addicted to her hourglass body.’
[Correction, I’m addicted to watching her hourglass body being pressed beneath you.]
As usual, I ignored my horny system.
"My... biggest fan?!" Yerin squeaked, her voice rising an octave. "My fan just ripped open the sky and sliced eight military stealth jets in half like paper? Why didn’t I know I have such fans?"
I shrugged. "You should be thankful she ain’t obsession stalker type."
Standing beside me, Val’s violet eyes widened as the realization finally clicked in her mind. Her stoic guard posture relaxed slightly, though a look of disbelief lingered on her face. Yoona, on the other hand, let out a deep, quiet sigh, her brow furrowing into a sharp frown as she looked out through the cockpit windshield.
"Since our unexpected benefactor did not leave any instructions or step out to greet us directly..." Yoona said smoothly, her fingers flying across the guidance controls, "...we should proceed straight into the academy grid before any secondary threats arrive. I don’t want another heart attack."
She pushed the thrusters forward.
The military jet accelerated through the lingering cloud of black smoke, passing right through the falling, flaming debris of the destroyed enemy vessels. The glowing red lightning static in the air sizzled against our spatial hull before fading into nothingness as we cleared the perimeter.
Ahead of us, the floating continent of Avalon finally revealed its true, jaw-dropping scale.
As our jet glided over the outer rocky rim, I leaned against the transparent nose cone, taking in the view below. It was breathtaking.
Avalon wasn’t just a school building surrounded by a few yards-, it was an entire, self-sustained metropolis suspended high above the frozen ocean, stretching out toward the horizon. The floating island possessed its own complete ecosystem, featuring rolling emerald hills, clear blue rivers, and dense ancient forests framed by sweeping mountain ranges.
The architecture was a staggering blend of futuristic sci-fi tech and ancient British heritage, likely a direct result of King Arthur designing the foundation centuries ago. Towering hard-light skyscrapers and automated mag-lev transport rails wove seamlessly around massive Gothic stone castles, slate-roofed manors, and grand stone bridges.
Surprisingly, despite flying high in the upper atmosphere over a frozen Arctic sea, the air hovering over the island was comfortably mild, feeling like a crisp spring afternoon. I guessed some ancient, high-tier sorcery array was constantly regulating the temperature and atmospheric pressure across the entire continent.
’Anything is possible in this world.’
"Taking us in toward the Eastern Wing sky-dock," Yoona announced, tilting the jet toward an elevated marble platform extending out from a massive castle spire.
As we drew closer to the landing platform, my sharp gaze picked up a group of figures already standing near the edge of the tarmac, looking up toward the sky.
"Looks like a welcoming committee is waiting for us," I noted. "Hope they brought pizza with them."
"The localized spatial shockwave from that giant scythe strike was massive," Yoona explained, stabilizing our descent. "The academy grid definitely picked up the energy spike. That woman standing at the head of the group is Chancellor Viviana. The officers surrounding her belong to the Disciplinary Department, which oversees internal security and defense for Avalon."
I gave a simple nod. "Got it. Chancellor Viviana. The woman Mother was talking about."
Yoona brought the heavy jet down onto the elevated marble platform with flawless precision. The runic landing gear locked into place, and the main thrusters slowly whined down into a quiet idle.
*HYDRAULIC HISS*
The rear boarding ramp lowered, and the four of us stepped out into the crisp, enchanted air of Avalon.
Walking down the ramp, Yoona took the lead, stepping forward with her chin high and executing a crisp, formal high-society salute toward the woman waiting at the center of the platform. "Chancellor Viviana. President Yoona reporting in."
’Wait, do I have to salute her too?’ I thought, glancing at my other wives who didn’t do anything. ’Never mind.’
Then, I took a good look at Chancellor Viviana as we approached.
She appeared to be a woman in her late thirties, radiating an aura of absolute, unshakable authority tempered by the calm, tranquil depth of an ocean. She wore a tailored, dark navy high-fashion suit interwoven with flowing aquatic silks and iridescent scales that subtly shifted color under the sunlight. Resting on her lapel was an elegant silver brooch holding a single drop of pure, glowing water that floated freely inside a tiny spatial bubble.
"President Yoona," Viviana nodded politely, her voice smooth, deep, and carrying a natural, soothing resonance. "I am glad to see you and your party arrived safely."
Viviana’s sharp eyes swept over Yerin, Val, and finally locked onto me for a brief second. But before she could ask about the localized spatial destruction outside the barrier, she abruptly looked away, raising her head toward the empty air twenty feet above us.
Her clear blue eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you going to continue lurking in the shadows of my sky, or do you intend to present yourself properly?"
SWOOSH!
The space directly above the platform rippled like disturbed water.
Out of nowhere, a luxurious, plush velvet couch materialized in mid-air, floating comfortably ten feet off the ground.
I was speechless seeing that, even though I already knew Lucifer was here. I simply didn’t expect her to continue her act even before others. But then again, she had no need to hide anything. In fact, she would probably tell things to everyone just to have fun.
’Still, she ruined a cool entrace. Wait, never mind. That’s also very cool.’
