Jiang Qingli opened her eyes. Upon seeing Ye Linyuan, she raised an eyebrow at him with a hint of smug satisfaction. She then turned and waved to the few Beastmen who were watching the show. "You guys go on ahead. We’ll catch up in a bit."

The Beastmen glanced between Ye Linyuan and Jiang Qingli, then silently departed.

"Who said I was taking you with me," Ye Linyuan said coldly. "Get down."

"Then you’ll have to let go," Jiang Qingli retorted.

’She wanted to test the limits of Ye Linyuan’s tolerance for her and push her luck if the opportunity arose.’

Ye Linyuan looked down. The moment their eyes met, his heart gave a slight twitch.

It was a very familiar feeling.

In his memory, today was the first time they had ever met, yet he couldn’t help but let his gaze linger on Jiang Qingli.

Ye Linyuan tossed the remains of the communicator to the ground. "I’ve already told him the address. Wait here."

With that, he turned and left.

Jiang Qingli quickly chased after him and grabbed his hand. "Where are you going now?"

Ye Linyuan glanced down at her fingers wrapped around his, tried to pull free, but couldn’t.

「The sun began to rise.」

Beneath the sunlight, the shadows of the tall trees stretched out, splitting the world in two.

Ye Linyuan stood in the shadows, his gaze fixed on the girl standing opposite him.

The sunlight today was dazzlingly bright—his most hated kind of clear day.
