ENERGI: THE PRIMORDIAL CONDUIT[OP MC, APOCALYPSE, SURVIVAL, AND LITRPG]
CHAPTER 147: A CALAMITOUS CLASH I
Kael's chest rose and fell heavily as he tried to catch his breath.
He watched as the abominations in the distance rose, most of them powerful enough to shrug off the flames that had engulfed them. And driven by the will the System had instilled in them to grow stronger no matter what tonight, these abominations tore into themselves as they collided, with the area around them lit by spreading flames in the background.
Among these clashing creatures, Kael made out a few notable figures. First were the two Elite undead. Now far past level fifty, these intelligent zombies appeared a bit different from before.
Their frames were larger, though not in a bulky kind of way, as their bodies appeared slim. Bony protrusions now grew down their necks, and every time they roared, the bony protrusions flapped open like the wings of some grotesque creature.
Their massive bodies rested on all fours, and they teleported around the battlefield, killing the boars and bears none the wiser, like silent assassins.
A part of Kael was glad that only two of these creatures remained, as his sister had already informed him that the rest had been devoured. But when he remembered the undead anomaly yet to join the battle, his heart grew heavy.
His eyes glanced across the battlefield, taking in the sight of the undead centipedes coiling their slithering bodies around boars while making chittering sounds, and massive skeletal wolves about five meters high diving into shadows and killing their targets with a predator's focus.
The bears and boars were not to be underestimated either. Among their ranks were many in the Rare ranks and even a few in the Elite ranks. With many of them even having crossed past level 80.
And once again, Kael wondered how they were supposed to survive this night. Whoever orchestrated this night event must be a sadistic bastard with a twisted sense of entertainment.
But when he saw the sole Epic-rank bear on the battlefield barreling towards them, with another Elite-rank boar charging from another direction, Kael's restless heart came to still.
Even without his Mythical skill, his mind entered a state of absolute focus.
And he affirmed within his heart.
'I will not die tonight.'
"Elena!" he shouted, his voice rising above the chaos around him.
In the distance, Elena moved past a claw, streaks of red lines crossing far into the distance from the attack. Her bow played a note on her violin, and her feet surged on the ice, bringing her to the undead's side.
A sound wave slammed into the head of the monster, causing it to stagger, and with a wave of her bow, gigantic ice spikes sprung out of her icy path, nailing the undead into the air.
Elena quickly turned in the direction of the shout, her azure eyes meeting with Kael's piercing blue ones.
"Can you take care of the boar?" Kael pointed at the charging beast. "Nathan and Daniel will help from the sides."
Hearing their names called, the other two also turned their eyes towards the rapidly approaching boar.
Elena shifted her eyes back to Kael, and she also screamed.
"What about you?"
Kael grinned. "Me and my girl will be taking care of that big guy!" He pointed at the barreling bear.
Elena's brows furrowed at Kael's words, and she turned towards Alice, who was also looking at Kael with a raised brow.
A feeling of irritation bubbled in her heart.
Wasn't Kael already infatuated with her? Now he dared to play chummy with another girl, and that too, before her?
What was he playing at?
Still, she pressed down her thoughts and nodded back to Kael with a cold look on her face.
Receiving her response, Kael shouted towards the others.
"Run! Run as far as you can! We will hold the rest back!"
Many wanted to argue, but they knew they would only serve as a hindrance.
Seeing that he had passed his message across, Kael finally turned towards Alice, flashed a smile, and stretched out a hand.
"Alice...if we survive tonight, will you go on a date with me?"
If he was going to die tonight, then he would make sure he at least fulfilled this desire of his. He had never been in a relationship, but he would want nothing more than to be with someone like Alice.
With sounds of explosions, feral roars, deep snarls, and angry bellows surrounding them, Alice ignored Kael's hand and instead gazed into his brightly glowing eyes.
She could almost guess his thought process, and she gave her reply as she turned around while scrunching her perky nose slightly.
"We won't die..."
Kael's eyes widened at the unexpected response, but her latter words soon drifted into his ears amidst the chaos.
"...at least, not tonight."
Alice walked slowly towards the charging deep-brown-furred bear, which was standing over seven meters tall from the shoulders.
The creature hunched on all fours, each of its lunges shaking the ground beneath.
The pressure of an Epic-rank beast spread out around it, suffocating any creatures that dared to move close to it.
Its crimson eyes fell on the human walking towards it with a steady gait, and the anger it had felt upon watching its kind killed by these devious humans and their tricks reached a new high.
- ROAR!
Spittle flew out of its outstretched mouth, the distance between the two now about a hundred meters. Just two more lunges and it would arrive before this daring human and tear her into pieces.
It was then that a change happened around Alice.
Mana pooled out of her slender frame in such an amount that her body was lost in the swirling blue tornado.
The mana thickened around her, and soon after, a blue figure over five meters tall appeared on the battlefield. A flicker of surprise flashed within the bear's eyes. As an Epic-rank beast, its intelligence was no less than that of an adult human, and even it was surprised at the sight of the barely 1.9m girl transforming into a five-meter giant.
The giant had the form of Alice herself, and even its facial features carried some lines resembling her looks.
The five-meter-tall figure took a step forward, the ground barely shaking as it appeared surprisingly light.
As Alice took another step, another change happened. Two massive short swords appeared behind her, a long, three-meter sheathed katana appeared on her left waist, and a sheathed, big rapier appeared on her right.
Her two now-big hands moved up and behind her as Alice gripped the hilts of her short blades. At the same time, she activated all her titles and used everything in her arsenal before finally activating her Order Imprint.
She had just taken another step when golden light bloomed around her massive figure, obstructing her figure from others' eyes for a moment.
Then the light abated and instead rose around her like shimmering golden waves, lending such a majestic sight that it drew the attention of the surviving humans on the battlefield.
"Damn..." Kael couldn't help but mutter at the sight, then his eyes exploded with blue radiance.
He couldn't fall behind.
Just as Alice drew her blades, Kael's Weaver limbs suddenly trembled as they wove countless threads and shot them to her moving hands.
Her actions pulled Kael along, his feet leaving the earth as he streaked through the air and flew towards her.
A calamitous clash was about to ensue!
