Endless Ocean: Survival Begins with a Dugout Canoe
Chapter 607 - 560: "I’m Still Just a Sealed King.
Amonev thought for a moment and felt that Shi Ming had a point.
Indeed, excluding Shi Ming, no being was currently more suited for this Divine Remain than the nascent will of the Cosmic Country. As for why Shi Ming was unwilling, Amonev could likely guess the reason.
’Perhaps he, like me, is also an unfettered person.’
The greater the power, the greater the responsibility.
He was so young, so it was only natural that he was unwilling to be shackled by this responsibility for tens of thousands of years.
"Even though I can’t be its master, I’d still like to see this Heart of Chaos. Do you think there’s a chance?"
"Of course."
After agreeing, Amonev’s hair began to float. Specks of starlight seeped from the tip of each strand, combining at one point to form a miniature star chart. Against a cryptic black background, it looked just like a small, cascading night sky.
This was the entrance to the Sea of Falling Stars.
It was hidden among the strands of Amonev’s hair, and only by forming a specific stellar alignment could the passage into it be opened.
"Don’t resist."
WHOOSH—
As if responding to an echo from the cosmos, the gravity of the Primordial Star acting on Shi Ming vanished in an instant. A familiar pulling force then drew him into another Secret Realm. Shi Ming did not resist this pull from the Sea of Falling Stars; his body followed its guidance, as if plunging into a boundless, illusory cosmos. In a flash, he entered the space sealing the Heart of Chaos.
This place was indeed familiar.
Shi Ming had been here before.
The mysterious legacy space he had once entered in the Scorpion King’s Pyramid under the sea was this very place. The twelve lost Civilization Origin Steles still floated here, inscribed with 1008 symbols formed from a vast stream of information—the source script of the Civilization Prologue.
Surrounding them was an endless Star Sea.
It looked incredibly real, but most of it was an illusory external projection.
"This is a legacy space, separated from the Sea of Falling Stars and specifically used to seal the Heart of Chaos. The steles from which you learned the Civilization Prologue are the twelve arteries connecting to the Heart of Chaos. As for the Heart of Chaos itself, it has always been sealed here in a concealed state. Moreover, its status is so high that without a special method, its existence is completely imperceptible."
Amonev waved her hand.
The starry sky seemed to draw back like a curtain. Between the twelve stone steles, a crystal-colored "Stone" materialized, pulsing at a steady rhythm. It wasn’t a biological heart in the conventional sense. Like the Eye of the Divine Pendant that Shi Ming had obtained, it looked more like a masterfully crafted piece of art, its brilliant surface seeming to contain all the knowledge and wisdom in the universe.
Each pulse carried a peculiar rhythm, one that seemed connected to the entire cosmos.
As you can see, this is the "Heart of Chaos," one of the four Divine Remains.
If the Eye of the Divine represents power, foresight, and evolution, then the Heart of Chaos represents wisdom and hope. Fusing with it will grant you two divine skills.
That’s right, one less than the Eye of the Divine. (Smug face)
Heart of Wisdom
Soul of Hope
Are you really willing to give up this power? Forging a completely new path is not easy, but by mastering two of the Divine Remains, you will be the strongest being in this Star Sea.
The moment he saw the Heart of Chaos, he did waver. The prompts from the Eye of Destiny were, after all, just an external manifestation of his own consciousness.
That was only natural.
Few beings can resist becoming a captive to such power, but Shi Ming also knew that once he fused with the Heart of Chaos, his future would inevitably overlap with that of the long-departed "Divine." Perhaps in the future, he could gather the other pieces, the Primordial Flow Body and the Uncertain Shadow. But even if he reunited all four Divine Remains, he would only become another Divine—it would not be his own path.
Amonev watched quietly from the side.
Refusing before was one thing, but after seeing the Divine Remain with his own eyes, this young man might well change his mind. Would he hand the power over to the nascent will of the Cosmic Country, or take control of it himself? She was very curious about his final decision.
"Let’s go."
"Hm?"
Amonev was a little astonished.
’He decided that quickly? Isn’t he going to think about it a little more?’
Swarms of meteors streaked across the edge of the Star Sea, a common sight in the Sea of Falling Stars. Compared to the Heart of Chaos right in front of him, Amonev thought this young man might be more interested in the scenery of her Divine Country. She sighed, her hair billowed, and the two fell from the Sea of Falling Stars once more, landing back in the real world.
"I’m curious, what exactly is a Divine Country?"
"And here I thought you were going to ask why a Divine’s heart looks like a work of art."
"..."
"Every time a Pillar Stone advances to the next realm, they come into contact with divine power. They can open up a small world within their own bodies—this is called a Divine Country. A Divine Country can be temporarily manifested externally, overlapping with the normal Star Sea to form one’s own domain or to exert pressure. But a Divine Country at the ’New God’ level won’t be very large, nor can it be manifested indefinitely. Therefore, to do as the Divine did and superimpose one’s entire Divine Country onto the First Civilization Cosmic Country is an extraordinarily difficult task."
"Can new life be born within a Divine Country?"
"...Theoretically, yes. In the former First Civilization Cosmic Country, the Divine’s direct lineage were all said to be life forms born from within his Divine Country. Moreover, when the Star’s Home has been combined with the normal universe for so long that it becomes difficult to separate, any life born in that Star Domain can be considered part of the Divine’s direct lineage. They are able to enjoy many advantages from this Star Domain. Of course, when the Divine perishes, they must also pay the corresponding price."
Outsiders, such as members of the ’Pillar Stone of Truth’ or other Nirvana Powerhouses who had joined the First Civilization Cosmic Country, had a chance to survive as long as they left within a short time. But the native life of the First Civilization Cosmic Country, regardless of where they were at the time—whether within the First Civilization Cosmic Country or in other cosmic Secret Realms—all died.
This was the price.
Similarly, when a pseudo-god with a Divine Country dies, all life forms with a strong connection to that Divine Country will also perish—just like Huang Ji’s thousand-plus children.
"I’ve always been curious, what exactly is your realm? You possess the power to kill more than one New God, yet you don’t seem to have reached the New God realm yourself... Even with a supreme treasure like the Apocalypse Divine Artifact, a Pillar Stone would have great difficulty achieving such a feat, wouldn’t they?"
Amonev was privy to many secrets, but at this moment, she had her own curiosity to satisfy.
Shi Ming just smiled and didn’t answer.
’In truth, I’m still just a Sealed King.’
