Endless Leveling Done Right!
Chapter 822: The Mastermind Behind The Rumors
Two days after Alex returned to the academy...
"Why is everyone looking at me like that?" Alex asked as he walked to his classroom with Chuck.
Whether it be the ladies or the gentlemen, everyone they came across in the hallway had one of two reactions when they looked at him.
The first reaction was a look of awe, as if they were looking at a celebrity.
The second one was a look of disgust, as if they were looking at a pile of sh*t.
Alex appreciated the first, but the second made him feel uncomfortable.
"You really don’t know?" Chuck chuckled. "It’s because of what happened in the Kingdom of Faelarun. You became the Singing King and the champion of the Battle Choir."
That explained why many students, most of them being girls, were looking at him dreamily. But the look given to him by the guys was different.
Perhaps able to tell what Alex was thinking, Chuck leaned closer to whisper in his ear.
"There’s a rumor spreading around that you have become engaged to the two elven princesses," Chuck whispered. "Their fans have started to curse your name, treating you as someone who-must-not-be-named."
Alex blinked once, then twice. It couldn’t have leaked that fast. Only a handful of people knew that he was now engaged to Lapiz and Aeris.
Aeris was the dream girl of most of the male students in the academy. It didn’t matter if they were First Years or Fourth Years.
For them, she was the ideal lover of their dreams.
She was smart, incredibly beautiful, a strong mage, a deadly archer, and last but not least, the princess of the Kingdom of Faelarun.
Anyone lucky enough to become her fiance was secured for life.
And just to make matters worse, the perfect heroine’s fiance had also nabbed the little sister!
Lapiz might not know it, but she was also very popular in the academy.
She simply didn’t notice this before due to her low self-esteem that led her to believe that those who approached her only did so because of her sister. In reality, she was in the top ten of the academy’s "Ideal Girlfriend List".
But that wasn’t all.
Their fans could still have accepted the fact that Alex had become the two princesses’ fiance.
What they couldn’t accept was the fact that he already had many known girlfriends in the academy and was still shameless enough to have more!
Evangeline, Lavinia, and Fran hadn’t kept their relationship with Alex a secret.
They wanted everyone to know that they already had someone in their heart, so that no one else would try to ask for their hands in marriage.
This was especially true for Evangeline, who was also one of the heroines in ELO.
She was just as popular as Aeris was because her looks and three sizes were enough to make the boys go gaga over her in secret.
"I see." Alex nodded in understanding after hearing his roommate’s report. Although he wasn’t certain, there was only one person in mind who would take the initiative to spread this rumor about him.
Suddenly, the very person whom he suspected to be the cause of this incident appeared before his very eyes.
"Good morning, Alex," Aeris said with a smile.
"Good morning, Princess—mphhh!" Alex wasn’t able to finish what he had to say because Aeris kissed him then and there, making the surrounding students gasp in shock.
A few seconds later, Aeris pulled back and started to smooth out the creases on Alex’s academy uniform.
"Students are not allowed to kiss each other in public within the academy grounds," Aeris said in a serious tone. "However, I’ll make an exception just this once. I’ll see you later, darling."
After saying those words, Aeris left as fast as she came.
She was like a storm, sowing destruction in her wake, while the one who had to handle the cleanup was none other than the pitiful victim who had been kissed in public!
"Wow..." Chuck muttered. "If Xenia did that to me, my social life would be over."
Alex, who finally snapped out of his daze after hearing his roommate’s muttering, finally realized that Aeris was indeed the mastermind behind the rumors.
While he understood that news of their engagement would be revealed to the public sooner or later, he didn’t expect it to be revealed this early.
On top of that, Aeris kissed Alex in public, choosing a time and place where there were many students in the hallways who were on their way to their classes.
Alex knew that even before the bell for lunchtime had sounded, the event that happened a few minutes ago would spread like wildfire.
Heck, he wouldn’t be surprised if the student body’s grandpas and grandmas came to know about this matter as well!
"So the rumors are true!"
"Did Princess Aeris really call him ’Darling’?"
"Hiss... this scum. He already has Evangeline, Lavinia, and Fran. Why does he have to take all the beautiful girls in the academy?!"
"Damn... I’m going to tell Vaan about this!"
Alex didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry because even if he tried to tell everyone that he was innocent, it wouldn’t matter much.
In fact, he was afraid that if all the guys in the academy spat at him, wouldn’t he drown in all the spit?
"It’s hard to be Mr. Popular, huh?" Chuck used his elbow to nudge his friend, who seemed to have been frozen in the spot.
"Let’s go, Chuck," Alex said in a serious tone.
He no longer wanted to stay in the hallway any longer. The stares directed at him were starting to feel uncomfortable, and who knew if someone would suddenly jump out to beat him.
When he neared his classroom, he was surprised to see a young lady near the door, seemingly waiting for his arrival.
This lady was none other than Lapiz, who had decided to transfer to Alex’s class starting today.
She had personally sent the application letter to the Headmaster, explaining the situation about her father’s decision to make Alex her fiance.
While she had become a little bolder as of late, she still didn’t have the guts to tell the Headmaster that she wished to transfer to Alex’s classroom to be with him.
That was why she had used her father’s decision as a reason for the class transfer.
When Lapiz explained to Alex that she was now going to be his classmate, the young man welcomed the news with a smile.
Before he knew it, he had already reached out to hug Lapiz, completely forgetting that they were still in the hallway.
"N-Not in public, Alex," Lapiz said while her face turned beet red, making all the guys in the surroundings wish that they were holding a kitchen knife in their hands at that moment.
That way, they could all stab Alex’s body without holding back and end their suffering.
Realizing what he had just done, Alex backed off as if he was electrocuted.
Seeing his reaction, Lapiz puffed up her cheeks, making her look incredibly adorable.
That was an expression that she never showed anyone, including in the game. The problem was that it wasn’t Alex who just saw it.
Everyone in the hallway did.
In the end, Alex had no choice but to enter the classroom in a hurry.
He no longer wanted to be the focus of everyone’s gazes.
Unfortunately for him, his classmates were also giving him the stink eye.
They knew that Alex already had many lovers. And yet, he still had the guts to defile the two elven princesses that many adored and respected in the academy.
Suddenly, Alex and those near the window heard a familiar knock from it.
Dim Dim had arrived in order to accompany Alex to the morning class, as it always did.
One of the girls near the window opened it and allowed the little bun to enter the classroom.
And the Dim Sum God, being the kind and gentle being that it was, greeted everyone with a good morning and a very sweet smile on its face.
While everyone’s attention was focused on Dim Dim, Alex was already thinking of having a private talk with Aeris and punishing her later for the suffering that he would be experiencing in the next few days in the academy.
