Chapter 697: Time To Eat Cake
Chapter 697: Time To Eat Cake
"What’s wrong?" Aeris asked as soon as she saw her sister, Lapiz, return to the room they shared together. "Do you have a fever? Your face is red."
"I-I’m fine, Sister," Lapiz replied. "I’m just tired from taking a stroll in the city. It has been a while since I came home."
"You don’t look fine to me." Aeris frowned as she reached out to touch the young lady’s forehead with her hand, trying to check if she caught a cold or not. "Well, you don’t seem to have a fever. So, what happened?"
"It’s nothing," Lapiz insisted. "I’ll go and take a shower first."
Lapiz didn’t even wait for her sister’s reply. She hurried to the bathroom and immediately locked the door behind her.
After removing her clothes, she let the cold water wash over her body, cooling it down a bit.
She didn’t know why, but when she saw Alex and Lavinia make out at her favorite spot, she felt hot and bothered.
She shouldn’t have felt that way, but she did. Despite Alex’s label as a womanizer and philanderer, Lapiz believed he wasn’t as bad as people said he was.
His lovers truly loved him, and he truly loved them back. This wasn’t uncommon in Arcana. It was a way of life, and even the Elves practice it as well.
Yet, even with so many beautiful, and capable ladies by his side, he wanted more.
He wanted... her.
As those thoughts came to mind, that memory of the time he confessed to her while her sister was by her side resurfaced.
A memory that made her feel hot and bothered again, despite the fact that cold water was pouring over her head.
The reason why she felt this way was because of one simple fact.
Alex liked her. Not her perfect sister, Aeris. Her.
Her sister had it all.
Good looks, talent, and intelligence that far surpassed her peers.
Compared to her, Lapiz was a joke. Since she was young, she had always been compared to her sister.
But how could someone like her beat someone who was blessed by fate?
A perfect elven princess who was not only a prodigy, but also well loved by the people.
And yet, despite all that, Alex still preferred Lapiz over her sister.
Although it was fleeting, the small sense of superiority she felt back then made Lapiz think about Alex more.
She wanted to look at him more and know him more.
However, after being warned repeatedly by her sister, as well as the young man’s own attempts to not come closer to her than need be, Lapiz could only gaze at him inside the clubroom.
A side that not many knew.
A side that only his club members knew.
A side... that Lapiz started to take interest in.
"Hah... What is wrong with me?" Lapiz muttered as she let the cold water rain down on her. "Why do I feel this way?"
Just like any other normal girl, she had crushes as well.
But her inferiority complex made her unable to approach them, let alone tell them how she felt.
There was also her status as the Elven Princess of Faelarun to think of. She didn’t want to disappoint her parents, as well as her sister.
So, no matter how interested she was in love, she held back and kept these feelings inside her heart.
Still, Alex’s confession brought these feelings she had sealed in her heart to the surface once more.
Now, more than ever, she was starting to think... What if she gave it a chance?
’What are you thinking, Lapiz?’ Lapiz chastised herself. ’It’s not meant to be. Do you want to disappoint your sister?’
Yes. Lapiz didn’t want to disappoint anyone.
Not her family, especially not her sister.
The sister whom she looked up to.
The sister whom she aspired to be like.
The perfect sister who made her feel like she would never amount to anything in life but a doll who must only smile and talk to people whenever they talked to her first.
As her body started to grow cold, she thought of the young man who held Lavinia in a loving embrace.
Even once, Lapiz wished that she could be held like that.
Even once, she wanted someone to look at her with a gaze filled with tenderness and affection.
She wanted to be loved.
She wanted to stop being her sister’s shadow, whom she loved very much.

Somewhere in the city...
After spending some time in the Everblossom Meadows, Alex and Lavinia finally returned to the inn they booked earlier.
They didn’t head to the same inn their friends were staying in.
Alex wanted to make this a special day for Lavinia after all. With that in mind, he booked the best inn in the city.
Both of them ordered dinner to be sent to their rooms because they wanted to eat with only each other as company.
"As expected of the best inn in the city," Alex said. "They didn’t disappoint."
"Yes, the food is delicious," Lavinia replied with a smile. "But why didn’t you order desserts?"
Alex smiled sweetly. "Who said I didn’t?"
The young man then took out a slice of cake from his storage ring and placed it in front of Lavinia. It was a dessert meant for only one person.
"Where is yours?" Lavinia asked.
"You mean cake?" Alex asked back with a smile. "Or are you talking about desserts?"
"Where is your dessert?" Lavinia replied.
"I already have one." Alex smirked.
"You do?" Lavinia blinked. "Where? When do you plan to eat it?"
"I am looking at her right now. And... I plan to eat her later."
"!"
Lavinia’s face immediately turned red after realizing what Alex meant.
The young man casually mentioned that he planned to eat her for dessert, which made her blush so hard that a red apple would lose in comparison.
In order to hide her embarrassment, the Catkin focused on eating the cake.
Alex simply looked at his beautiful lover. She had a reddened face as she ate, and he enjoyed watching every moment of it.
When Lavinia finally finished eating her dessert, she couldn’t even look at Alex with a straight face.
Seeing the confident young lady in front of him look so shy, Alex stood up and held her hand.
"Time to eat cake," Alex said in a teasing tone, which resulted in Lavinia pounding his chest with her closed fists out of embarrassment.
Alex only laughed and held her hand as they headed to the bathroom together.
He wanted to wash away the dirt that had clung onto their bodies during their date around the city of Everdawn before anything else.
Tonight was a special night, and Alex wished for it to become a good memory for Lavinia.
He hoped that when they grew older, they would fondly look back on this day with smiles on their faces.
Even with the cold water pouring down on their heads, Alex and Lavinia didn’t feel cold.
In fact, their bodies even heated up as they washed each other, knowing full well what was going to happen next.
