Chapter 668: Latifa’s Worry
“Um, shouldn’t you go back to practice?” Astrea asked. “I heard you are doing some special training. Frankly, I really want to hear you sing.”
“I’d love to let you hear it as well,” Alex replied. “Unfortunately, I can’t. Not now. I made a promise to Professor Arienna.”
“I see. What a shame. I really wanted to hear your singing voice.”
“Don’t worry. I’ll make sure to sing properly in the inter-academy tournament. I’ll even dedicate my song to you.”
“Really?” Astrea’s eyes lit up after hearing Alex’s words. “That’s a promise! Don’t break it, okay?”
“Okay.” Alex nodded. “I promise.”
Astrea raised her pinky finger, which made Alex smirk in response. The two then shared a pinky promise before parting ways.
When the young lady was no longer in sight, Lumi suddenly materialized out of thin air and gave Alex a teasing smile.
“How cute. A pinky promise,” Lumi said before reaching out to hold Alex’s hand. “How about we make one too?”
Alex smiled at the Alter, who had definitely changed her attitude toward him. Back then, she was always confrontational with Alex.
Who would’ve expected that she’d become this very sweet girl?
Still, Alex didn’t dare to take this sweetness for granted.
Why? Because he was trying to prevent something. In one of Latifa’s routes, Lumi actually turned into a yandere, which led to one of Latifa’s bad endings!
“What promise should we make?” Alex asked as Lumi intertwined her pinky finger with his.
“How about a promise to go out on a date next weekend, like the date you had with Evangeline?” Lumi asked.
“Okay,” Alex replied. “I have no plans next weekend.”
“Then, should we also book an inn?” Lumi asked in a teasing tone.
“H-Huh?!” Alex couldn’t help but feel like something was really off with Lumi right now.
After calming himself down, he noticed something.
The lady before him was indeed Lumi, but the way she looked at him was different.
“L-Latifa?” Alex asked. “Is that you?”
“Oh… so you can tell that it’s me,” Latifa replied with a smile. “I did my best to act like Lumi so you wouldn’t know it’s me. What gave it away?”
The young man couldn’t possibly tell her that it was the way she looked at him. Lumi would never look at him that way.
It was a gaze filled with longing, which she only showed whenever she and Alex were together.
“It’s because my heart told me it’s you,” Alex didn’t hesitate to say one of the cheesiest lines he could think of on the spot.
He wasn’t aware that Lumi was cringing so hard inside her Sea of Consciousness as she watched their exchange.
“I see, so you have me in your heart.” Latifa smiled sweetly after hearing his words.
She then hugged Alex and rested her head on his chest, enjoying this moment together.
Of course, Alex hugged her back, not caring about the gazes of the students walking past them.
He already had a bad reputation in the academy, so he didn’t mind even if they saw him hugging his lover.
The guys clicked their tongues as they walked past Alex. Clearly, they were envious that he was being hugged by the beautiful fox lady, who only usually slept during classes.
“So, where do you plan to go now?” Latifa asked after reluctantly breaking their hug.
“I plan to go to the farm to talk to the Dryads, actually,” Alex admitted. “Nessia asked me to gather some herbs, but they are currently out of stock from the exchange center. The merchant houses in the city are also out of stock.
“I was hoping they could help me find it in the Mistral Weave Forest. I already got permission from Professor Gareth earlier, so all is good.”
“What kind of herbs are you looking for?” Latifa asked while walking hand in hand with Alex.
“Herbs needed to make Stamina Potions,” Alex replied without hesitation.
He wasn’t aware that on the day of his return with Evangeline after a night of lovemaking, the vampire girl was kidnapped by Lumi and Lulu and brought to the clock tower.
There, she was asked by Lavinia, Latifa, and Fran on how her night with Alex went.
Of course, Lumi, Lotte, and Lulu were also there, making sure no one could enter the clock tower at this time.
Since Evangeline treated Alex’s lovers as her own sisters, she didn’t hesitate to tell them what happened.
She added that Alex’s legs were shaking after it ended, so he drank a stamina potion to recover.
So, when Latifa heard about the stamina potion, her face reddened. She wouldn’t be able to look at stamina potions the same way again.
She was just joking when she said that she wanted to go to an inn after their date ended. Frankly, she felt that her heart and body still weren’t ready to take that step in her relationship with Alex.
Hugs, kisses, cuddles, and a few other things were still acceptable. However, she promised her mother that she would present her lover to her first before she gave her maidenhood away.
’I think it’s about time the two of them meet,’ Latifa thought.
Her mother was aware of her relationship with Alex, and was even pestering her daughter to let her meet her boyfriend as soon as possible.
But there was one problem.
Latifa was afraid that her mother would not approve of Alex.
If that really happened, then what should she do?
“Latifa? Is there something wrong?” Alex asked.
“Nothing’s wrong,” Latifa replied. “I… I just feel a little sleepy, so I’ll let Lumi take over for now.”
After saying those words, Latifa returned control of Lumi’s body back to her owner.
“She ran away.” Lumi blinked after regaining control of her body.
“Is something bothering her, Lumi?” Alex asked. “It’s like she wanted to tell me something, but she can’t.”
“Well, it’s not like I’m clueless about her worries,” Lumi replied. “After all, she’s not the only one feeling that way. We’re worried about it as well. Still, it’s not my place to tell you what it is. If you really want to know, you should ask Latifa, not me.”
Alex stopped walking as he pondered on what to do. A minute later, he looked in the direction of the clock tower.
“I think I should talk to Latifa now,” Alex said firmly. “Let’s go, Lumi.”
Although he had no idea what his lover was worrying about, he didn’t want to let feel bad on her own.
If he could help her, then he would not hesitate to do it.
Lumi glanced at the young man, who was walking hand in hand with her toward the clock tower.
She was aware that Latifa’s mother was the greatest hurdle Alex would have to overcome so he could stay with her Master without worrying about the future.
