Chapter 591: A Place Of Memories And Tears [Part 2]
Chapter 591: A Place Of Memories And Tears [Part 2]
’This might be a bit dangerous,’ Alex thought as he observed the map.
Not only were there six Field Boss Monsters, there were also many High-Ranking Monsters. Some were Rank 5, accompanied by even more monsters.
On the bright side, they seemed to prefer staying in their own respective territories. But while they didn’t have to worry about roaming enemies, they understood this increased the danger of heading deeper inside the forest.
If Alex, Dim Dim, Fran, and Finn worked together and had enough time, they could probably defeat a Rank 5 Monster. But if the Field Bosses joined the battle, it would immediately become a battle of life and death.
Of course, if a Field Boss Monster was an Insect-Type Monster, they still had a chance of insta-killing it with a slap of Grandma Agnes’ Sandal.
Unfortunately, based on the information on the Map, none of the Field Bosses were Insect-Type Monsters.
One was a Dryad, who went by the name Sylvara.
The other was a Tiger creatively called Tigrath.
And the last was the Ape, Gorath.
The young man checked for more hidden dangers. He sighed in relief when he realized that aside from the Field Bosses and the Rank 5 Boss Monsters, they would be able to handle the rest.
’We just have to be careful and avoid catching their attention,’ Alex thought.
But recalling the dense monster population in the forest, it was inevitable for them to clash with monsters whether they liked it or not.
A few minutes later, breakfast was finally ready. It was a simple meal of eggs, bread, and butter. But since they were fresh from Fran’s farm, they tasted lovely.
“Fran, we have to be careful when we enter the forest later,” Alex said. “There are three Rank 6 Field Boss Monsters and a dozen Rank 5 monsters INSIDE. Regardless of the approach we take, we must be prepared to escape if need be.”
“I understand.” Fran nodded.
She didn’t ask how Alex knew all that. The young lady had complete trust in him.
Finn didn’t say anything, but he was also taking the young man’s words seriously.
Their plan was to rest for a few hours to regain their strength and then enter the forest before noon.
If they didn’t find the graves when the sun sets, they would immediately leave the forest and camp outside of it.
According to Fran’s memory, the graves were at the northern side of the forest. They were currently at the southern part, which meant that they would have to travel in a straight line to arrive at their destination faster.
But going on a straight line was nearly impossible because there were too many obstacles and monsters that blocked their path.
In fact, while going straight was the fastest, it was also the most dangerous path of all.
“The three of you rest first,” Finn said. “I’ll be the first watch. I can function perfectly even if I don’t sleep for a day.”
His Profession was an Arcane Blacksmith. Sometimes, he would craft a piece of equipment for three straight days without eating or sleeping.
Finn had made the gauntlets Fran used in battle. Since she preferred throwing punches than swinging weapons, her brother had made her the strongest, and sturdiest gauntlets that he could craft.
Perhaps knowing that it was a piece of armor that would protect his sister from danger, Finn had worked incredibly hard to craft it. Because of that, the Item Grade of Fran’s Gauntlets were Unique.
In terms of rank, the gauntlets were just below the Legendary Rank.
(A/N: Item Grades are Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Unique, Legendary, Divine.)
“Thank you,” Fran said softly to her brother as she took out a bedroll from her storage ring. Since she was a dwarf, sleeping outdoors was not a problem for her.
Alex also took out a bedroll, and Dim Dim’s sleeping basket from his storage ring.
The little bun yawned while the young man put it in its basket.
He was also very tired from all the running. So, it was not a surprise when he drifted off to sleep as soon as he laid down to rest.
Fran also fell asleep not long after. She trusted her brother very much, and she knew that she would be safe with him keeping watch.
Finn sat cross-legged on the ground. He glanced at the two sleeping behind him before he shifted his gaze at the forest in the distance.
Their camp was on a cliff, giving him a good vantage point. If any monsters headed towards them, he would see them without fail.
But just to make sure that he was prepared for any situation, he summoned his weapon and rested it by his side.
Just like Alex, Finn’s weapon was a Warhammer.
He wasn’t the most proficient warrior, but he was strong enough to overcome his weakness.
The weapon itself was ordinary in appearance, but Finn had infused it with Arcane Blacksmithing techniques that allowed it to hit hard and deal shock wave damage upon impact.
These attacks ignored the defenses and dealt internal injury to the foes that were unlucky enough to clash with his hammer.
Similar to Fran’s, his weapon was also a Unique Weapon and he called it… Grimhammer.
It was a simple name. But it was far from being simple.
Suddenly, he smelled something sweet in the air.
The wind was blowing in their direction, so he assumed that this scent was coming from the forest.
It smelled like a fragrant flower. Finn wasn’t a fan of perfumes, but he could tolerate it to a certain extent.
That was when Finn realized something. The sweet floral fragrance made his mind clear and the exhaustion he felt during their long marathon slowly subsided.
Then, from within the forest, Finn heard a soft chuckle.
He didn’t know if it was just his mind playing tricks on him, but the sound of that laughter was very vivid. It sounded ladylike and definitely wasn’t the kind of laughter that would come from a man.
Also, he noticed something peculiar. Despite the distance, the laughter was very clear. For a brief moment, he even thought that the one who laughed was laughing just beside him.
While Finn was thinking if he had just imagined the laughter or not, a pair of eyes locked on his body from the forest.
“It seems that we have guests,” a sweet voice that could make any man melt said softly.
Giggles and innocent laughter spread inside the forest as several ladies eyed the lone dwarf, who was keeping vigil just outside their home.
