Chapter 901: Origin Elements Resonance
Chapter 901: Origin Elements Resonance
—
Truthfully, Cedric couldn’t care less about his breakthrough to the mid-stage Empyrean Realm.
Well, he certainly noticed it happening, but he didn’t mind it too much. He knew it was bound to happen anyway.
What he’s really concerned about is the new arrangement within his consciousness and his inner world.
The five basic elemental origin laws had formed a pentagram and were resonating with each other, signifying their strong relationship.
It was fascinating to look at. He could feel additional insights being produced from this connection, ones that are telling him how exactly some elements combined or repelled each other, producing unique and surprising reactions.
And since they were origin laws, the product of their reactions was bound to be explosive. So much so that Cedric decided not to experiment for now since he couldn’t predict just how violent these reactions could be.
He still remembered that he’s staying on a low profile right now. He wouldn’t want to cause either Nick or Pat to investigate out of nowhere because he got a little too curious.
But Cedric had an epiphany; he thinks that, just like how he comprehended the Creation Laws, the insights of these five elemental origin laws might also be the key to comprehending the Creation Origin Law.
Well, it seems that he had found his next target.
Obviously, gaining more insights about the other half of the Creation Law Essences will take some more time. He didn’t expect it to be easy even with the help of the resonating elemental laws he had now. But anything helps, especially considering how difficult this was bound to be.
Actually, Cedric hasn’t yet comprehended the first half of the Creation Law Essences.
He had comprehended it initially back then, when he still played with the combinations of the incomplete basic elemental law essences.
But you see, the amount of law essence fragments that the Creation Origin Law required at minimum was a whopping 100 fragments.
Yes, 100. Maybe a little bit more, actually. It’s definitely much more than Destruction Origin Laws, which needed only a little bit over 60 law fragments.
Currently, Cedric has learned 30 Creation Law Essences, and that’s only with his preliminary insights. Now, with his five basic elemental laws reaching the origin law level, it’d be faster for him to comprehend the rest of the first half.
As for the latter half, just like everything else, he’d need to see the Origin Creation Law tablet first to unlock it, which wouldn’t be so hard with the tactics he’s using at the trials.
Oh, and speaking of which…

Angelo appeared right outside of clone Cedric’s shelter and waited patiently. The man knew that Cedric sensed his presence and didn’t feel the need to knock. He waited, instead, to be allowed in.
Cedric sighed and deactivated the seal in his shelter before pulling the door open and saying, “Come in.”
Angelo walked in, wearing a wide smile on his face. His eyes shimmered in mischief and acknowledgement at the sight of Cedric’s clone for some reason.
Before Cedric could say anything, Angelo went first: “Congratulations, Cedric. You made it. You crossed another checkpoint. You now gained the acknowledgement of six origin laws. Amazing!”
“Thank you. Couldn’t have made it without your help,” Cedric humbly replied with a smile.
“Oh, shut it,” Angelo chuckled before unceremoniously sitting on the floor. “All I did was to introduce you to this place and tell you how things worked here. The rest was all you.”
Cedric smiled but didn’t say anything.
“Now that you’ve reached this checkpoint, you don’t have to be afraid of being sent to the other side anymore,” Angelo continued. “You’re no longer working on borrowed time.”
“You still have to participate in the trial to gain more comprehension time rewards, but you’re no longer at a time limit. Also, failing the trial won’t get you landing on the other side either. You can make as many attempts as you want at the trial and not be afraid of being forced to leave or exist in a meaningless way.”
Cedric knew that Angelo came here to tell him this, and he appreciated it.
He won’t say that it’s been hard to get to this point, but he won’t say that it had been easy either. It’s just work as usual for Cedric—no big deal, really.
The point is, Cedric never doubted himself.
What really puzzles him is why others couldn’t do the same. There were a lot of other people here; some were humans, others weren’t. But being here meant that they had the potential and the talent to make it, so why are most of them still stuck here?
“It’s because they’re too careful and complacent,” Angelo answered his musings even though Cedric was sure that he didn’t talk out loud.
“No, I can’t read minds. It’s just that you’re not the first person who had the same musings. I once had the same thoughts, and my predecessor clarified things for me.”
“The people around you here? Yes, they are talented. Yes, they have the potential. They wouldn’t be chosen to be here if they didn’t have either the talent or the potential.”
“You’ve already experienced it yourself,” Angelo paused. “It’s easy here. There’s no fighting, no unnecessary complications, just pure grind and work. It’s stale, dull, and repetitive, but it’s easy.”
“As long as you don’t start the trials, you can basically stay here indefinitely. You can keep comprehending law essences and watch as your strength grows to absurd levels.”
“The pressure only starts once you participate in the trial. But you yourself already discovered that the trial could be manipulated. You’re not the first one to take advantage of that; hell, I myself did the same, and we won’t be the last either.”
“The point is, only the stupid and arrogant fools would find themselves being kicked out of here or being sent to the other side.” Angelo shook his head.
“Most of the people around you had been here for so long that they no longer have any desire to go home. They’ve grown used to this environment, to this stale, dull, and repetitive lifestyle.”
“They’ve gone complacent. And it’d be difficult for them to change their minds.”
“To some, they’d rather die than actually make an effort to go home. They’ve been gone for so long that the world outside has moved on without them. Even if they returned, so what? What’s left for them there? Would their people or their families even remember they’ve once existed?”
Cedric stilled at this. Yes, Angelo was right. It’s sad, but that’s the truth.
He had conversations with his fellow trialists here, and when he told them the current state of affairs, he saw the profound shock, dismay, and disappointment in their eyes. It’s like witnessing the light in their eyes fade.
Cedric had felt guilty about that back then, but he didn’t want to lie to them. They’d spot it anyway. He also can’t pretend to be ignorant since they could tell that, too.
“To them, continuing this cycle was the last thing they knew and were still familiar with; that’s why they’re reluctant to do something else new,” Angelo continued.
“And that’s the main reason why they’re stuck. That’s why the other concept laws were being difficult with them, why their progress was slow…”
“It’s because they’ve given up already. They’re just waiting for the inevitable since they no longer have any reason to live.”
Cedric felt chills after hearing that. And try as he might, he couldn’t refute it because he had seen the signs.
Indeed, he could tell. Now he understands why some people would prefer to be sent to the Other Side, because there, even though it’s fake, at least their loved ones, and maybe even more, feel real. That much was enough. It’s familiarity that’s luring them in, and the promise that it’d stay that way perpetually that’s making it even more attractive to them.
Better false than nonexistent…
Cerric sighed. He felt bad about it, but there’s nothing he could do. Their thoughts were not under his control. Telling them the truth was meaningless either, since the decision was ultimately up to them.
“Alright, what’s next for me?” he asked, wondering if this was all Angelo was here for.
“The next was obviously to continue the road you’re on,” he replied. “I can already tell that you seek to understand the very soul of origin laws—the Origin Source Laws. And to do that, you must, first, comprehend the majority of concept laws there are to the origin law level.”
“You’re far from reaching that goal, but you’re making swift progress,” Angelo commented. “And with your current level of privileges, you can be even faster.”
“You don’t have to stay here either,” he added. “You’re no longer at the same plane of existence as the rest of these people are. If you want, I can take you to a castle where you can have a much better room with much better privacy and have direct access to the core inheritance zone and the trial. That’s also where I, and the rest, stay while we’re here.”
“How about it? Interested?”
Cedric smiled and nodded at him.
