Chapter 1731 1731: Invisible Bullet
Chapter 1731 1731: Invisible Bullet
Leerna, acting as the judge, gave the order to start the fight. She was the only one with the authority to do so. But what happened next depended entirely on the fighters themselves.
The emerald clock began to tick. Ten seconds had already passed since the start of the fight, and not a single whisper could be heard among the spectators. Everyone was waiting for the action to begin, for one of the fighters to attack.
However, Adam and Zin stood in their spots.
There was no emotion on their faces. It seemed that neither of them was preparing a swift or stealthy attack.
This went on for some time until Zin's voice rang out.
"You know that the first five minutes are special, right?"
Adam nodded.
"Yes. Is that why you're not attacking?"
Zin replied in kind.
"Yes. I decided to participate in this fight to achieve my personal goal. I'm not interested in the outcome of my fight benefiting anyone other than myself."
A satisfied smirk formed on Adam's face. He couldn't believe it, but he agreed with him.
"Huh, aren't you afraid that this will make a lot of people angry at you?"
"No. I'm strong. If my opponent is significantly stronger than I am, then he's on a different level. In that case, it would be fair to use my Finger."
Adam was about to reply when a shout rang out from the stands:
"What the hell is that?!" The broad-shouldered man shook his fist. "Start fighting! How am I supposed to place bets when I don't even know what you bastards are capable of!"
Strange as it may seem, this reaction was quite popular.
"Yes!"
"Go for it! Show us what you're capable of!"
"You came here to win! What's the point of standing around?!"
Many shared this view. However, none of the Fingers here, neither Es'aha nor Kaerno, said anything, nor did Leerna.
As the judge, Leerna could stop the fight, but she couldn't force the fighters to fight. How the fight would proceed and who would emerge victorious depended solely on the two of them.
This didn't affect Zin in the slightest. He was more than confident in his words.
"Zin, you have a home here, don't you?" Adam decided to ask.
Strangely enough, Zin simply nodded. It was a casual question.
"Sure. Like all the monsters here, I have a pillar where I can go at any moment. I rarely do it, but I have that option."
"Huh, I see. You know, my home, the Citadel, is very far from here, and I don't have anything here."
Zin shrugged. "That's natural. I don't have a house at the Citadel either. I'm a monster, and you're a human, that was to be expected."
Scratch. Scratch. Scratch.
"Hahaha, yeah, you're right, it was silly of me to bring that up. But, you know, there are some interesting places in the Hollow Lands, and I don't like being someone's guest."
Zin narrowed his eyes. He didn't like the way Adam's tone had changed.
"What do you mean?"
Instead of answering, Adam turned, his gaze fixed on Kaerno, who was waiting for this with anticipation.
"Hey, Kaerno, how about sharing 20% of your bet with me?"
All eyes immediately turned to him, to the Finger, who for some reason had decided to sit in the most ordinary seat.
Kaerno smirked, holding up one finger.
"10%, and you do realize I can't place a bet unless I see the fighters in action, right? I need more information to make a proper analysis and…"
With a theatrical expression, Kaerno looked at his wrist, checking the time, even though he wasn't wearing a watch.
"A minute and a half has already passed. Just over three minutes left for bets."
Adam nodded.
"10%? Fine, I accept those terms."
Confusion spread among the spectators, and this time Zin was one of them. He didn't understand what Adam was trying to do.
Step.
Adam stepped forward as his frame trembled.
The next moment, he found himself right in front of Zin with his fist raised to strike.
"Sorry, but I'm not interested in the profit from these monsters. Like you, I'm doing this for myself."
Zin's amethyst eyes widened for a moment as Adam's fist was about to slam into his face, the next moment.
Step.
With a quick step to the side, Zin tilted his torso and deflected Adam's wrist with his palm, causing Adam's fist to fly over his shoulder.
Zin hadn't used any abilities. His aura was just as calm as it had been at the very start of the fight. It was his sheer skill and physical abilities, nothing else.
"Agh? Did he manage to block my hit?" Adam's eyes darted toward Zin, who was already preparing a counterattack.
In one fluid motion, Zin stepped forward as his palm, like a spear, plunged into Adam's stomach.
A single precise strike was enough to send Adam flying to the side.
"Gha!" Adam groaned in pain as his back slammed into the arena wall, but that wasn't all.
Any other opponent would have tried to catch up to Adam and continue the flurry of strikes to inflict more damage. However, Zin remained in his spot, extending his arm forward.
'What the…?' Adam was confused.
Zin's middle finger and thumb touched as a gleam flashed in his eyes when he made a flick.
A simple flick sent a tremor through the air, causing a strange sensation in Adam's heart.
He didn't understand what he was seeing. It was as if an invisible bullet was moving toward him.
'Damn it!' The Silver Weaver's voice rang out in his mind. 'Duck, you idiot!'
Only because of that did Adam manage to duck to the side at the last moment as the sound bullet flew past the left side of his head, grazing his ear with a slight cut.
Tremble!
A tremor ran through the arena, forcing Adam to turn around.
The sound bullet left a deep cavity in the wall, as well as several wide cracks running along it.
Tap.
Wanting to know what had just happened, Adam picked up a simple pebble from the ground and clenched his fist tightly.
'Argh?'
However, he couldn't crush it, just as an ordinary human couldn't turn a stone to dust with the strength of his hand alone.
The Silver Weaver, who was watching the events unfold from the inner space, grimaced in horror, biting his finger until it bled.
'So it is sound, right? Fucking hell, we've never had an opponent like this before!'
He ran his hand through his hair.
'It's not going to be easy to win… Damn it!'
