Chapter 1638: Dark Power (Part 2)
Chapter 1638: Dark Power (Part 2)
Tron didn’t summon a giant or create a nuclear explosion. All he did was summon his glass clones, and the only difference between them was the type of energy he used to create them.
Still, that was enough to make Adam’s eyes widen.
"Wait, how did that happen?"
Tron smirked. "What exactly are you talking about?"
"That clone, and... the second one..." He stared at the dark clone standing behind Silvana. "I didn’t notice how the second clone appeared, how they ended up behind us, and how you switched places with it."
Tron nodded, patting Adam on the shoulder.
"Yeah, if before it was just a decoy that could copy my actions, now it’s a way to attack at tremendous speed or, conversely, to escape. Look, I can easily do something like that."
The two dark clones ran forward at Tron’s command. After a hundred meters, they split up and darted off in different directions, climbing to the tops of the rocks.
Tron took a few steps to the side, and with a wave of his hand, his frame trembled.
Tremble!
With a dark ripple, he swapped places with one of the clones, then did it again and again.
Adam blinked once, and in that time, Tron had already changed his position twice. No matter how fast he or any monster of their level could move, this was too fast—because it was teleportation.
Sure, Tron couldn’t do this indefinitely. Everything had its limits.
Riska stepped forward.
"As you can see, not only have the clones grown stronger because of the Dark Energy, but Tron has gained a new feature in his ability. Yes, with every leap he spends a little energy, soon he’ll reach his limit."
Silvana turned to her.
"Is he using this in battle?"
She nodded. "Yes, but during combat, he doesn’t make that many leaps. He’s doing this for you to demonstrate the capabilities of his modified ability, and to show you there’s a price to pay for it. But, as I said earlier, that’s not all."
Tap.
At the same moment, Tron appeared before him. His breathing had grown heavier, and his aura was no longer as stable as before, but he wasn’t exhausted yet.
"Earlier, you saw that my glass clone was just repeating my movements. Well... with these ones, the situation is a little different."
THUMP!
A heavy steel block crashed down from the sky as Tron extended his arm. A simple glass blade glowed above his hand, wide and long enough to be a fully-fledged weapon. He could create something like this at any moment from his energy.
Whooooooosh.
He swung as a sharp slash left a deep cut on the surface of the steel block.
"I could have put more power into it, and the damage would have been greater, but that’s not the point of my demonstration."
Tremble. Tremble.
The clones trembled as they turned into clumps of darkness that swept across the ground and merged with Tron’s shadow. The dark fog began to recede from his shoulders, reflecting his power.
The glass blade darkened as Tron took a deep breath:
"Gha...!"
Stomp!
He stepped forward, swinging. The glass blade shattered into shards, but a black crescent of energy swept across the ground.
It seemed like it was just a simple, amplified slash that would leave a deeper cut, but before it struck the steel block, the black crescent trembled in the same strange way as the dark matter.
The crescent duplicated itself several times, and eventually, eight blades overlapped each other in a grid.
Adam’s eyes widened as the blades swept through the steel block, slicing it into countless cubes with laser-like precision.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
The cubes crashed to the ground, causing the flames in Adam’s eyes to grow brighter.
With a wide smile, he turned to Tron. "Damn! That was incredible—!"
"Gha!" Tron collapsed to the ground as blood gushed from his mouth.
Silvana gasped.
"Are you okay?"
Tron brushed his mouth with the back of his hand and nodded.
"Yeah, something like that. I used that ability longer than I should have, but I think you got the gist of it."
Riska walked over to him and helped him up as she stared at Adam.
"I’m sure right now you’re thinking about how many possibilities the Dark Energy holds. That’s true, but you shouldn’t rush into choosing an ability."
"Hmm?" Adam gave her a confused look. "Why?"
Tron smiled bitterly.
"Because the Dark Energy won’t leave the place it’s sent to. You’ll keep its source where it is now, but there can only be one other place. At least for now."
Adam didn’t understand what he was talking about, but Silvana quickly figured it out as her expression grew serious.
"I see. So, Adam can only enhance one of his abilities and choose to use its normal or dark version? Now, he doesn’t have enough Dark Energy to enhance more of his abilities, right?"
Riska nodded. "Yes, you’re right—"
"Not exactly," Tron interrupted her.
Riska turned to him. "Huh? What do you mean?"
"Given how Adam obtained his Dark Energy, one of his abilities should already have received its dark version. It was supposed to be a sort of reward for the trial he went through to obtain this energy type so early. But, otherwise, Silvana is right."
Adam had an idea of what Tron was talking about, but he wasn’t ready to use that ability to its full power just yet.
"Got it. Before using the Dark Energy, I have to choose one ability, and before I can change my choice, I’ll have to become significantly stronger than I am now?"
Tron nodded.
"Yes. Do you have any ideas? If you need time, think it over carefully. Right now, you’re not only learning to use the Dark Energy, but choosing a weapon that could help you win, or even survive in the future."
Adam rubbed his chin thoughtfully as he narrowed his eyes.
"Still, I can’t find out what the effects of the dark version will be?"
Tron shook his head.
"Shit, in that case, everything is much more complicated than I thought."
