Endless Debt

Chapter 1490 - 60: The Rescue Operation

  • Next Chapter

For an Undead, what is the most terrifying thing? Bologue guesses it must be death, right?

It is precisely due to the fear of death that such a heavy price was paid, gaining an Undying Body, enduring the loneliness of ages and the torment within, just to enjoy the little pleasures of life.

Cowards.

Every Undead is a complete coward, yet this kind of coward has secretly forged a dagger that can kill himself.

If Bologue were Serey, he would definitely seal away this dagger that threatens himself after overthrowing the Eternal Night Empire, cast it into pig iron, or throw it into the deep sea, anything would do as long as the dagger never sees the light of day again.

But Serey did not do this; instead, he gave it to Olivia, handing over the power that could transcend classes and threaten the Pure-blood Night Race to his daughter who always resented him.

Bologue looked at the dagger with a complex expression and couldn’t help but speak softly, "I’m somewhat confused too."

"What do you mean?"

"What you mean to Serey."

Bologue shifted his gaze from the dagger, which holds lethal power against the Condensers yet cannot kill him.

"He endowed you with changeable Secret Energy, allowing you to evade others’ pursuit effortlessly, and granted you this cruel dagger that enables you to kill fellow kind directly... After the Dawn War, you should have no kin left; did he foresee you committing such a mistake long ago?"

Bologue walked to Olivia’s side, the soles of his shoes stained with the Night Race’s blood, an old blood now dark and sticky, seemingly left in the air for a long time.

Olivia did not answer Bologue’s question, the name Serey had always been a taboo in her heart, but Bologue could sense a hint of confusion in the crimson glow of her eyes.

Regarding Serey, Olivia was equally bewildered.

"Reinforcements have arrived."

Palmer opened his eyes, reminding the two, as he had been vigilantly scouting the surroundings during their conversation, just now Olivia killed only a few ordinary guards, judging from the disturbed air currents, dozens, hundreds of enemies were approaching.

These were just the enemies beyond the door; outside, the Condensers of the All Secrets Order were rapidly overcoming the maze Bologue had created, rushing straight here.

Palmer felt the situation was dire; they might end up surrounded on all sides.

Bologue remained calm, continuing to ask, "When you hold this dagger, are you afraid?"

"No, holding it actually makes me feel very secure."

Olivia gently toyed with the dagger, the icy blade brushed her skin without leaving any wound.

"When I hold it, I know no one can harm me, and if anyone dares, I will slice his throat."

Olivia’s voice was firm, with a streak of madness; the long, lonely life had hardened this girl like steel.

"In this regard, you are truly unlike Serey." Bologue sighed again.

"What would Serey do?"

For the first time, Olivia showed curiosity about Serey’s story.

"I guess when he held this dagger, he must have been terribly afraid, perhaps so scared his hand couldn’t stop trembling." Bologue remarked.

"Why?"

"Fear, he was afraid of the dagger that could kill blood kin but also himself," Bologue mocked, "He wasn’t as brave as you, so holding onto this dagger only increased his fear."

Olivia seemed a bit surprised; she hadn’t thought Bologue would evaluate Serey this way.

"I thought you were friends."

"We are friends," Bologue said, "but that doesn’t stop me from complaining about him or mocking him."

Bologue glanced at Olivia, and said harshly, "If only Serey were braver and more responsible, there wouldn’t be so much trouble, nor would so many people have died."

Olivia was speechless, maintaining silence, then vented her confusion and anger on the approaching enemies.

"Palmer, help!"

Bologue moved forward with a sword; although he could determine the enemy’s position through Ether reaction, he was still unaccustomed to the absolute darkness vision.

Palmer flung out Storm Feathers, shining with Ether’s brilliance, constantly understanding and circling in the air, like fireflies flying, or like flickering stars, barely illuminating the dimness.

What first entered Bologue’s sight was the vast space below, filled with strictly sealed goods, a rough glance suggested they were weapons and supplies.

The light spread to the surroundings, nearby corridors echoed with rumbling footsteps, the clashing and grinding of chains, and extremely hungry bloodthirsty sounds.

Bologue wasn’t facing the Night Race for the first time, he knew very well what was coming; he leapt over the railing and jumped down.

Terrifyingly frightening Bloodthirsty beings pressed against each other like a pack of beasts, roaring out of the narrow corridor, but before they could reach Bologue, with merely a glance at them, the relentless Ether drilled into their bodies like sharp needles.

Condense, brew, detonate!
