Chapter 6804: Shrine
Chapter 6804: Shrine
Of course, the emotionless gaze capable of cutting down stars did not affect Li Qiye. The man, on the other hand, staggered backward in shock.
His first reaction was to hold the hilt of his sword and assume a defensive pose, ready to slash. His eyes fixated on Li Qiye as if he had just seen a more ferocious beast.
Li Qiye only stared at him. Meanwhile, the others were terrified by the increased intensity of the man’s murderous aura. The whole city could disappear in the blink of an eye.
Since Li Qiye didn’t do anything, the man gradually calmed down. He let go of the hilt and hid his aura.
Li Qiye still didn’t say anything. At the very least, he knew Li Qiye could have killed him instantly. He took a deep breath and left Tinyleaf without any hesitation.
It took a long time before the city’s inhabitants calmed down. Li Qiye came over and pulled the city lord up.
“That, that man finally left?” The lord was still afraid of the man’s terror.
“Yes.” Li Qiye smiled.
“Gone…” The lord looked around and confirmed the man’s departure.
Although the man saved them from the demons, his aura was something else.
“We have to leave now.” The city lord shouted at the survivors.
“Where to?!” The crowd was lost.
“To Thunder Kingdom!” He said: “We will seek haven there, the emperor will protect us. It is close enough to Immortal Bear Mountain that Frenzy will not dare to come again.”
Others exchanged glances.
“Boom!” He summoned a great ship pulsing with divinity. This was clearly an artifact left behind by his ancestors since he was only a king-realm cultivator.
“We must leave before the next wave of attacks.” He shouted and didn’t want to linger long.
The crowd didn’t wish to leave their home. Alas, survival trumped anything else. This happened often in Golden Lamp Everlasting Ground.
“Do not hesitate! Leave all non-essential things, we will return another day.” The lord said.
Just like that, cultivators helped mortals board the ship. In this world, mortals and cultivators lived closely.
Cultivators were always at risk of being killed. Thus, mortals were essential to replace them.
“Keep it up, I will go to the shrine.” He told the experts nearby.
Li Qiye smiled and followed him. Since he was in a hurry, he didn’t mind the companion.
He returned but didn’t gather any belongings. His focus was on the shrine within his palace.
“What’s so important?” He asked.
“The shrine is the root of our city. An immortal passed away there and left a prophecy, that this shrine will save us all in the future.” He said.
They made it to the end of a great hall where a small shrine awaited them. There was nothing there, no statue or any offering – only a box.
The shrine was made from an unknown material, looking rather plain like those found in the mortal villages.
“Ancestors, Tinyleaf is amidst a great crisis and we must evacuate. Please accompany and protect us.” He kneeled and prayed with reverence.
After a full kowtow, he respectfully tried to lift the shrine. Alas, he turned red, unable to move it.
“The shrine doesn’t wish to leave.” He gave up and sat on the ground, feeling dejected.
“Why not?” Li Qiye asked.
