Chapter 6686: This Is Perception

Chapter 6686: This Is Perception

“Perception.” The other said softly.

He could become anyone because as the tribulation vessel, he dealt with the omnipresent force known as karma.

However, the person must exist to have karma. Thus, to a certain extent, he seemed to be unbeatable. The only weakness was that he lacked the perception found in sentient beings.

If karma had perception and biases, it would no longer be the same. He drank tea in silence – was it to savor the tea or to savor Li Qiye’s karma?

The tea certainly had flavor but did it come from him or just from Li Qiye’s perception? In other words, Li Qiye drank first and tasted it. From that came the duplication.

“Want to be karma or yourself?” Li Qiye asked.

“Instigator.” He said.

“I can’t instigate if you were you and if you were me, it would be useless.” Li Qiye shook his head.

He stared at Li Qiye in silence.

“There’s a reason why Jiao Heng wanted to become a sentient mortal, to know emotions, both good and bad, to experience and learn without taking from others.” Li Qiye said.

“What if I don’t need it?” He asked.

“Then you will stay as karma, always needing causes to exist.” Li Qiye said: “Forever stuck in a cycle of destruction. When worlds and inhabitants are gone, so are you, you have nothing more.”

“What about the other you?” He asked.

“He has his own perception so strictly speaking, he is not another me. What he does, he understands. All of it comes from him, not me.” Li Qiye said.

This seemed to bug the other Li Qiye.

“Given such an unreasonable responsibility without awareness, how pitiful.” Li Qiye said.

The other took another sip of tea.

After a while, the other said: “The time is right, kill me and become a true immortal.”

“As I’ve said, I can do it without killing you. Karma, both good and bad, originates from me and should be with me.” Li Qiye said.

He didn’t respond.

“The one to take you down will either be yourself or the villainous heaven.” Li Qiye added.

“Sounds right.” He agreed.

“Ask yourself, if there is nothing here, then everything can return to zero.” Li Qiye said.

His hand holding the teacup slightly trembled upon hearing this.

“Yes, this is what you are seeking.” Li Qiye noticed the subtle reaction.

“Perception, it can exist.” He said.

“Indeed.” Li Qiye nodded.

“If I am your karma, shouldn’t you grant me perception?” He asked.

“Surprising request.” Li Qiye smiled: “Perhaps there is another answer.”

“Can’t have a path as colorful as yours. The other paths have already been walked.” He said.

“No need to be original.” Li Qiye said.

“No, to walk on someone else’s path means I might take their spot.” He said.

“You should tell Jiao Heng this, not me. His path robbed you of yours.” Li Qiye shook his head.

“I suppose I can walk your path without interfering.” He said.

“Sounds okay, I can be generous.” Li Qiye smiled.

“Come.” He put down his teacup and stood up.

“Really? This is a path that leads to death.” Li Qiye said.

“Still a path.” He said.

“I guess it is still better than not having a path at all.” Li Qiye nodded.

“Come.” He repeated.

“Very well. I will give you perception then.” Li Qiye placed his hand on the other’s head.

“Buzz.” A multicolored light blossomed from Li Qiye’s eyes and traveled to the other’s mind and body.

In this split second, all emotions and experiences – pain, warmth, love, suffering, hatred, and so on – surged into the other’s mind. This bound him to the mortal world.

“Ahh!” His karmic self began to dissipate like a shadow melting away.

“Crackle!” He returned to his original state – a physique with countless tribulations.

“This is…” The avatar stared at its hands and felt something new.

This was not power or an offensive ability. He began noticing the slightest changes and how they were imprinted into his mind.

Lightning bolts erupted from within, radiant enough to shine all worlds. These could shine the high heaven’s location.

Alas, this existence was not allowed so the bolts suddenly turned into spears, piercing the avatar.

“Ahh!” He bellowed but didn’t fear this development. Although the pain was unbearable and overwhelming, he sensed them thoroughly. It was no longer the faint perception passed from Li Qiye.

“This is it, ahh! Perception, feeling…” Thus, he felt an unprecedented sense of fulfillment and murmured between the screams.

“Pop!” The lightning bolts and spears began to disperse from inside out.

Li Qiye raised his head to look at the high heaven but said nothing.
