Ember Dragon

Chapter 749: Dragon War

  • Next Chapter

Tinia tilted her head in confusion at first, then quickly understood what the female red dragon meant. Her expression twisted with fury.

White dragons were well aware of their racial disadvantage and often felt inferior because of it.

Yet Volcanis mocked her for it and even dared to claim she would bear her Master’s offspring—a blatant insult and provocation.

That damned red dragon!

Her Master had once taught her about "killing the chicken to scare the monkey." If she was going to assert dominance before the other females, then she might as well start with this reckless, arrogant red dragon!

"ROAR—"

Tinia’s deep dragon eyes gleamed with rage. As she roared, a howling wind burst forth, and a terrifying chill spread through the air.

"Volcanis! Who told you I’m an ancient white dragon? Compared to me, you’re the old one!"

"I am Tinia, Duchess of the Glacier, the most loyal vassal of the great Ember Emperor. I come here under my Master’s command, bearing the will of the Emperor himself!"

Her roar echoed across the sky, and the powerful pulse of her ice magic caused all the female dragons present to tense up.

"That power... how is that possible?"

"Is she really a white dragon? How could an adult white dragon be that large?!"

"And her spellcasting... It’s at least at the primeval white dragon level! I’ve never seen a white dragon this strong!"

Dragons were inherently magical beings, born with innate talent and highly sensitive to magical flow.

Nearly every female dragon could sense the incredible power within that graceful white form—even Volcanis.

"There’s something wrong with this white dragon!"

Feeling the surge of energy, even Volcanis hesitated for a moment. Though she kept her proud posture, caution was creeping in.

A lowly adult white dragon, a beast of the tundra, could not possibly wield such power.

Then a different thought crept into her mind.

It was the "Dragon Prince"! Under his favor, even a lowly white dragon could gain such power. If she, a noble red dragon, were to be chosen, what unimaginable strength would she receive?

With that thought, greed flickered in Volcanis’ golden eyes. She looked up at the furious white dragon above.

"As expected, lowly dragons like whites are only fit to serve as red dragons’ slaves. You have no right to stand beside us."

"Tinia, you are far too disrespectful. I am your future mistress," she said confidently, as if her victory was already assured.

Tinia laughed coldly in rage. "Stop dreaming. An old hag who can’t even beat me has no right to be with His Majesty."

Veins bulged on Volcanis’ brow, and flames burst from her eyes. "Despicable white beast! I will show you—what true power is!"

With a flap of her wide wings, the red dragon launched into the air, blazing with fire as she charged toward Tinia.

"Then bring it on, dumbass!" Tinia lifted her head and howled. She flared her wings, summoning a blizzard as the temperature plummeted.

Watching the confrontation, the green and blue dragons remained still, observing intently.

Vesuvela exchanged a glance with her fellow green dragons and smirked—the signature wicked smile of green dragons.

This white dragon was strangely powerful, far stronger than her usual kin.

But Volcanis was a mature red dragon with a fearsome reputation, not an easy opponent. It would be a tough match.

Once these two muscleheads exhausted themselves, it would be their chance to strike and snatch victory.

They just needed to deal with those troublesome blue dragons.

With that, Vesuvela turned to Kristina, eyes gleaming with malice.

Kristina was watching too. She noticed the green dragon’s look and returned a fierce glare.

Suddenly, a thunderous boom split the sky. The green and blue dragons looked up, fire reflecting in their eyes.

Volcanis had made her move!

"White dragon, tremble before my flames!" the red dragon roared.

She reared up and unleashed a cone-shaped blast of fire. Orange-red flames poured forth like a waterfall, warping the air.

"BOOM!!"

The power of her breath was immense. Each flick of flame could burn human soldiers to ash and even melt city walls.

Once, in a rage, she turned a southern town into a scorched wasteland, molten lava the only thing left behind.

That was how she earned the title "Tyrant of Molten Blood."

But as Tinia faced the blazing fire and felt the incoming heat, she only found it laughable.

That was what she was proud of? That pathetic flame breath?

Could this even be called breath?

Too weak.

Tinia had seen Cassius melt city walls hundreds of meters high with his breath.

She’d seen him incinerate massive monster tides into ash, even shoot pillars of flame that pierced the heavens and clashed with divine punishment.

Compared to her Master, Volcanis’s flames couldn’t even match a stray puff of morning breath.

And that was saying something.

As Tinia remained still, Volcanis grew more confident.

Was the white dragon too scared to move?

Heh. As expected from a cowardly beast. Even with a little power, she was trembling before true rage.

Time to end this!

Volcanis couldn’t wait to unite with that noble and mysterious Emperor. Then she, too, would gain great power and bear the most glorious heir!

Flames burned brighter as she poured more power into them, surging across the sky.

But then she saw it—contempt. In the white dragon’s eyes.

Did she see that right?

Or had the white dragon gone mad with fear?

As the fire closed in, Tinia let out a long howl and flapped her wings. Ice-blue runes traced across her wing membranes like veins.

"WHOOSH—"

With a mighty flap, a glacial storm burst forth, sweeping across the sky. The raging fire was instantly extinguished!

"What?!"

"She blocked Volcanis’s breath so easily?!"

"That ice magic is incredible!"

The watching female dragons were stunned. That white dragon had summoned a blizzard rivaling a seventh-circle spell just by flapping her wings!

"How... how is this possible?!"

Volcanis was in disbelief, and the crowd’s chatter fueled her shame and fury.

How could she lose to a white dragon younger than her?!

Unforgivable!

"That damn white dragon must be relying on some powerful artifact! That magic won’t last!" she snarled, spewing fire with renewed effort.

But Tinia roared louder, her cry sending a soul-piercing chill through the dragons.

"ROAR—"

The blizzard intensified, turning the sky white. Pressure from the wind threw everything into chaos. The lake below began to freeze.

Volcanis’ flame flickered like a candle in a storm, then died completely.

The moisture in the air crystallized, and frost coated her red scales. Her breath failed—not even a spark came out.

Buffeted by the biting cold, she struggled to stay airborne, flapping her wings desperately like a ship caught in a storm.

"Trying to warm me up?" Tinia mocked coldly.

She could have ended the fight earlier, but white dragons never let insults slide.

That red dragon had humiliated her publicly, so Tinia would make sure she lost face in front of everyone, utterly and completely.

Infuriated, Volcanis burst into flames, melting the ice around her.

Her face twisted with madness as she screamed, "Wretched white dragon! Without His Highness’s blessing, you’d be nothing! Still scavenging frozen corpses on the tundra!"

But her voice was drowned out by the howling storm.

"Speak up, I can’t hear you," Tinia said mockingly, cupping her claw to her ear.

Even the watching dragons couldn’t help but chuckle at Volcanis’ sorry state.

"I’ll make you pay dearly, white dragon—you’ll die a horrible death!" Volcanis growled, smoke snorting from her nose, her eyes bloodshot.

"ROAR—"

She roared and soared a hundred meters into the sky, then dove down with unstoppable momentum, plunging into the blizzard.

Blinded by rage, she was nearly mindless, but her instincts remained—dragons were born with combat sense.

The white dragon’s magic was strong, but she would regain the advantage through brute force.

The red dragon was 20 meters long; the white was 26. A size difference, yes.

But red dragons were the strongest among chromatics—dense with muscle and covered in weapons: blade-like claws, hammering tails, and powerful limbs. War machines!

White dragons, lean and built for icy survival, couldn’t compare physically.

Volcanis believed she had the upper hand in a brawl.

As she closed in, the white silhouette became clear. Volcanis narrowed her eyes, baring her fangs in a savage grin.

"Arrogant fool, you’ll pay for this!"

"ROAR—"

With a furious roar, she tucked her wings and lunged at Tinia.

"Die!"

Her razor-sharp claws sliced through the air, aimed at Tinia’s wings.

Her gaping, fang-filled maw snapped toward the white dragon’s slender neck.

She intended to kill.

In her mind, the white dragon would soon be a torn and broken corpse.

But she severely underestimated Tinia’s physical strength.

After countless generations, dragon bloodlines had weakened, and white dragons became mere tundra predators.

Yet in the ancient era, even the weakest white dragons were walking disasters.

Their bodies struck fear in warriors; their breath froze seas.

These were the ancestral white dragons.

And Tinia was one of them, her blood strengthened further by Cassius’ blessing.

"ROAR—"

She flapped her wings and charged fearlessly, her ancestral blood surging.

Her claw, glowing with ice-blue light, smashed straight toward Volcanis’ incoming head—

"BOOM!"

A violent explosion shattered the air. From Tinia’s claw, a cold shockwave burst forth and swept the skies.

A moment later, a chilling scream echoed, followed by bones snapping and flesh tearing.

"How is this possible?!"

"By Tiamat, is that really a white dragon?!"

"Mother of Evil Dragons, she just blasted Volcanis away!"

High above, wrapped in icy winds, Tinia kept her striking pose, while Volcanis flew backward in a sorry heap.

Teeth, blood, and scale fragments rained from the sky.

The red dragon’s jaw was dislocated, blood poured from her mouth, and her thick neck bent at an unnatural angle.

Wracked with pain, she coughed blood, the world spinning, her mind reeling in disbelief.

Impossible!

How could a white dragon have such strength?!

Then came something worse—her mind began to slow, her senses dull, fading into darkness.

At the point of impact, a rune glowed pale blue. Frost spread over her head, encasing it in thick ice.

The frost quickly enveloped her entire body, turning her into a frozen statue!

Her body stiffened and fell from the sky, smashing through the ice and plunging into the lake with a splash. She did not rise again.

—This was Matalotok’s "Freezing Hammer" effect.

Looking down at the gaping hole in the ice, Tinia nodded in satisfaction.

She raised her head, stretched her neck, and let out a long, echoing roar.

"ROAR—"

"By Tiamat!"

"Great Dragonmother, what kind of white dragon is this?!"

"That was the Molten Tyrant—a mature red dragon! And she was defeated just like that?!"

All at once, the female dragons turned to the graceful white dragon in the sky, drawing in a collective gasp.
