Ember Dragon

Chapter 747: A Unique Kind of Dragon Disaster

  • Next Chapter

As expected, Tiamat now coveted his bloodline immensely, even going so far as to grant divine favor, sending the chromatic dragons of Feanso swarming into the Empire under the banner of divine oracles.

This was an obvious and blatant ploy.

If even one female dragon succeeded, Tiamat would gain his bloodline without lifting a finger.

Even if they failed, the influx of chromatic dragons would still cause massive trouble—disrupting the Empire’s productivity and giving Tiamat a pretext to stir conflict, something Cassius couldn’t ignore.

Was Cassius supposed to handle this personally?

What a troublesome mess.

After a moment of thought, Cassius ordered, "Intercept them first. Gather the chromatic dragons in a secluded area to prevent damage to the Empire. Just say... it’s my will."

"Yes, Master," Langpu quickly responded, then asked, "What if they refuse to obey?"

Cassius snorted coldly. "Then show no mercy."

"Have the Machine God Cult deploy the Skyborne Dreadnought. If they resist, target them with elemental cannons based on their type and shoot them down."

"Understood, Master."

"I’ll lure them to Lake Twar in the Thrace region. It’s undeveloped, sparsely populated, and isolated. It should accommodate over a hundred dragons."

Langpu nodded and bowed before respectfully departing. His ugly face vanished from the magic mirror.

Cassius activated his Heavenly Calamity Dragon Eye, controlling it across space to instantly reach thousands of miles away and observe the Empire’s borders.

Roars of true dragons, shrieks of wyverns, and the rumble of helicopter engines echoed across the sky.

On the southeastern frontier of the Ember Empire, the Imperial Air Force was confronting several massive dragons. Armored wyverns and combat helicopters blanketed the sky in an imposing display.

"You have entered Imperial territory. Leave immediately!"

"I repeat, you have entered Imperial territory. This is an offense against the Ember Emperor. Leave immediately!" came the booming voice from magical loudspeakers, echoing through the air.

"ROAR—"

The female dragons flapped their wings and let out fierce roars, like storm winds from deep forests—unnerving and savage.

These female dragons were deep green, like forests. Crowns extended from near their eyes down along their spines, and they exuded a pungent chlorine scent.

They were green dragons—reputed to be the most cunning and deceitful among the chromatic dragons, masters of trickery and misdirection.

"Out of the way, you lowly inferior creatures!"

"Do you think these laughable tin toys and mongrel wyverns can stop the mighty and intelligent Vesuvela?!"

The largest green dragon let out a cold snort, spreading her vast wings to reveal a body that would strike terror into any mortal.

"We come by the divine oracle of the great Dragon Queen, Mother of Evil Dragons, to mate with ’Dragon Prince’ Cassius and bear perfect offspring!"

"Any who obstruct us blaspheme the divine and endanger your own master! I am his esteemed guest!"

Overwhelming draconic presence spread. The green dragons cast Suggestion and Dominate Human, innate spells that made listeners subconsciously believe their words.

"Could she be telling the truth?"

"This... this is His Majesty Cassius’s guest. We can’t..."

Under this pressure, several patrolling soldiers atop wyverns instinctively gave way, clearing a path.

But the Crimson Scaled Conquerors and helicopters behind them remained stationary, aiming their machine guns and autocannons at the green dragons.

"Get out of my way!"

Furious, Vesuvela roared, "Inferior scum! Are you deaf?! I am Vesuvela from Arden Forest, His Highness Cassius’s guest!!"

Yet again came the voice from the loudspeaker: "Green dragon, we have received no notice from the Ministry of Defense, nor any decree from His Majesty. We cannot verify your claims."

"This is your final warning. Leave Imperial airspace immediately, or we will take forceful measures!!"

As the words faded, the machine guns and cannons finished loading.

"Bang! Bang!"

Gunfire burst from the barrels, sending warning shots near the green dragons—this was the military’s final warning.

The next step was war.

"Damn inferior beings! When I become Empress here, I’ll imprison you in cages and make you suffer endless torment..."

Vesuvela gnashed her teeth, her face dark and venomous. But wisely, she didn’t advance.

Since the fall of the Thrace Kingdom, the Ember Empire’s military had gained fame across Feanso. Even forest-dwelling green dragons dared not underestimate it.

Just then, the speaker crackled again, this time with hesitation: "Lady Vesuvela, we have received orders from above. Please proceed to the Lake Twar area—this is His Majesty Cassius’s will."

Hearing this, Vesuvela was overjoyed. She quickly turned and flew toward the Empire’s eastern frontier.

The other green dragons followed.

Cassius shifted his gaze to other border areas, where many chromatic dragons had also gathered. Upon hearing his "invitation," they eagerly flew to Lake Twar.

But not all went smoothly. In the southwest of the Thrace region, in Kalifa Gorge, a red dragon had already clashed with the Imperial army.

"ROAR—"

"You damn inferior creatures! Who gave you the courage to block the mighty Ignaraya?! I’ll burn you all to ash!"

The dragon’s roar shook the heavens, but was soon drowned out by intense gunfire and explosions.

"That dragon’s nuts. Open fire!"

"But sir, she’s a red dragon. I fear..."

"Idiot! You think such a beast is worthy of being compared to His Majesty?!" the officer bellowed. "Report this to command. A berserk giant has attacked the Imperial army. We are forced to retaliate."

"Fire! If anything happens, I’ll take full responsibility!"

"Rat-tat-tat—"

"BOOM!"

The reckless red dragon spread her wings and unleashed searing dragonfire. Several wyverns shrieked in the flames, and one helicopter crashed in smoke.

Over a dozen machine guns fired simultaneously. Bullets engraved with magic runes rained down like a storm, piercing her wing membranes and splattering warm dragon blood into the sky.

"ROOOAR—"

The female red dragon cried out in pain and rage, rampaging through the sky in fury.

But from the ground, anti-aircraft turrets launched custom stun rounds. With blinding flashes, the red dragon staggered mid-air, crashing into the ground.

Earth and stone flew. A crater formed as she slammed down, crushing a bunker.

"Inferior... mongrels... I won’t forgive you! You’ve enraged the great ’Volcanic Calamity’ Ignaraya!"

A raspy roar came from the smoke. Ignaraya slowly crawled out of the ruins, her voice full of fury, madness, and hatred.

"What is that?!"

"Thank the heavens! Reinforcements!"

"By Cassius... that thing is enormous. Unbelievable."

"BOOOOM—"

A massive shadow emerged in the sky, so large it enveloped even the red dragon.

Even the muscle-brained dragon instinctively looked up, jaws agape—

As the dust cleared, a floating battleship nearly a hundred meters long appeared, its turrets raised and aiming at the red dragon.

Alarmed, Ignaraya let out a roar and flapped her battered wings to flee.

—But it was too late.

"BOOM!"

Several pale-blue beams crossed mid-air, radiating intense frost as they struck the red dragon.

In an instant, a layer of white frost enveloped her mighty body, even freezing her blood.

She struggled and growled, but her voice weakened until it faded.

In the end, the "Volcanic Calamity" Ignaraya became an ice sculpture, frozen mid-struggle.

The Skyborne Dreadnought descended. Two Machine God Cult players in magitek armor stepped off the gangway.

"Damn, it really is a red dragon. This thing’s packed with loot. If we took it apart, we could make so many top-tier items."

"Forget it. You wanna slay dragons in the Empire?"

"HQ specifically ordered us to keep it alive. We can extract blood samples and a few scales, then release it."

The players bound the dragon with special ropes, and a mechanical arm from the ship dragged the frozen dragon into the cold storage bay.

Of the invading dragons, seven or eight clashed fiercely with Imperial forces. Over half were red dragons, and most met the same fate—frozen and transported to nearby monster containment facilities.

"My so-called ’relatives’ are really brainless," Cassius muttered with a sour face.

Fortunately, the Ember Empire’s military was mighty. The hundreds of thousands stationed at the border were deterrent enough to make the chromatic dragons cautious.

Though arrogant and evil, chromatic dragons were also sly. They wouldn’t risk death to storm the Empire. As the old saying went: "Evil dragons fear might, not virtue."

Even if the dumb ones attacked, the army would handle it.

Had this happened during the Ember Kingdom era—before the military matured and air defenses were complete—hundreds of chromatic dragons might have caused true disaster.

Cassius pondered a moment, then made a decision.

"Heh... since Tiamat started this, let her own kin deal with it."

"Tinia, come see me at Dragonblood Mountain."

Mind link activated.

Within minutes, a portal opened in the sky.

A white dragon let out an excited, high-pitched roar and leapt through, pouncing to the ground before Cassius.

Her thick, chubby tail wagged furiously, and her drool nearly reached the red dragon.

"Master! You finally remembered me! And you’ve grown even stronger, hehe~"

Cassius glanced at her.

Sensing the look, Tinia coughed and scrambled upright, folding her wings, forelimbs bent in a half-kneel with surprising elegance.

"Good day, my beloved Master, noble Emperor. Duchess Tinia greets you."

Cassius nodded.

Hmm, seems Langpu’s etiquette lessons weren’t a complete failure—at least she’s less like a husky now.

Then he scanned Tinia from head to toe.

She’d grown quite a bit since last time. Perhaps due to Cassius’s bloodline influence, she was now about 26 or 27 meters long—ancient white dragon size.

Regular white dragons wouldn’t reach that size even after a thousand years. Tinia wasn’t even two hundred.

Her body was mostly white, but not pure white. Many light-blue scales were mixed in.

Normal white dragons had messy cheeks, dangling flaps, and crooked teeth poking out when their mouths were closed, often drooling.

Compared to those "white beasts," Tinia’s facial scales were smooth and clean. Her large body was sleek and powerful, exuding a certain holy majesty.

She also possessed abundant ice magic energy and could unleash freezing breath to turn prey into ice blocks.

"By my estimation, she’s likely stronger than the average ancient white dragon. She might even beat those female dragons."

With that, Cassius looked at the white dragon and asked flatly, "Tinia, did you also receive that oracle from the Dragon Queen?"

Tinia nodded. "I’m not Her follower, but I got the oracle. It seemed annoying, so I set it aside and haven’t read it."

Cassius sighed inwardly. As expected, if someone lacked brains, not even a divine oracle could sway them.

Tinia focused her mind and viewed the oracle that appeared in her thoughts. Her expression shifted, and a blush crept over her face.

"Wait... Master, does this mean... you’re finally going to... with me...?"

Her tone was bursting with excitement.

Her previous restraint vanished. Her tail wagged violently, drool dripping, and she wriggled so close she almost brushed against the red dragon.

"BAM!"

"Awooo~~"

Tinia flew over thirty meters, tumbling across the ground with a painful yet oddly satisfied whimper.

Cassius dusted his claws, twitching at the corners of his mouth. No matter how much he disciplined her, this white dragon’s nature was still perverted.
