Chapter 3055 Express Delivery of Good Pregnancy

Even with numerous alternate personas, every single character setting had to be respected.

Since he was already playing the schemer plotting to seize the Ji clan, he might as well see it through to the end and show the Night Watchers what thorough preparation looked like.

For Fu Qian, thanks to his research on the bloodline project, he had gathered a considerable amount of information regarding the Ji clan.

One of the most fascinating details was undoubtedly the Birthing Axe, which carried out the will of the lineage.

It was even one of the most mysterious items.

Having circulated between two worlds, it had wounded at least three known individuals and had likely passed through the hands of three different Warehouse Managers.

It must have originally been brought over by Old Man Ji Feng, with the goal of using it in tandem with the Bronze Madam to carve out a prophecy using the Ji clan bloodline for future managers to find.

Later, through his own search in the Bookstore World, he had successfully exploited the Ji clan higher-ups' scheme of having Classmate Liushuang fall pregnant out of wedlock to pocket the axe for himself.

However, a crucial segment remained missing from the middle: the exact process of the Hand Axe being taken from Madam Sissi and brought into the Bookstore World.

When he first heard Madam Sissi recount her childhood trauma, he had deduced that it was most likely the work of another Warehouse Senior.

With greater seniority, they had discovered some of Old Man Ji Feng's revelations much earlier, tracking down the Hand Axe and bringing it back to the Bookstore World.

Who was this second handler? Why had they taken only the Hand Axe and left the Bronze Madam behind? And why had the Hand Axe they took ended up back in the hands of the Ji clan?

In Fu Qian's eyes, these were questions well worth investigating.

And thanks to excellency Corvos's "test," a unique opportunity had presented itself right in front of him.

As the person in charge with actual authority, and possessing an age that entirely covered the time of the Hand Axe's return, Ji Zhaoyi couldn't possibly be ignorant of the details.

Not to mention the exceptionally outstanding effects the axe had produced later on.

Furthermore, because his Rank far exceeded the others, his mental state was much more lucid and adaptable, giving him a genuine capacity for conversation.

It could be considered a perfect alignment of time, place, and people.

Naturally, he hadn't forgotten the main theme.

The moment such a sensitive topic was broached, Professor Fu's figure undoubtedly appeared even more sinister in the eyes of the Night Watchers.

He was truly a venomous snake lying in wait, quietly calculating many things in advance, perfectly verifying his persona as an "order villain."

All in all, he perfectly practiced the nasty habit of a higher entity achieving multiple benefits with one move.

"Professor Fu really does take... exceptionally good care of his assistant."

Things were progressing much as expected.

On one hand, while Ji Zhaoyi had a subtle reaction to this sensitive yet not particularly severe question, he didn't overreact.

After about the span of a breath, he slowly nodded, even appearing slightly moved by Professor Fu's concern.

Meanwhile, the Night Watchers maintained their silence throughout, in no rush to voice their opinions.

Though it was plain to see that Old Man Stoss and Old Man Logan were harboring intense doubts and suspicions.

It seemed that they had initially been reluctant to believe Professor Fu harbored such unfathomable motives, only for the unfolding facts to severely shake their convictions.

As for excellency Corvos, though his emotional management remained excellent, a hint of amusement had crept onto his face, showing he didn't dislike how the situation was developing.

...

"However, it's quite a pity. That Hand Axe flowed into the Ji clan's possession through a chance occurrence, and there was nothing particularly remarkable about the process.

"We have never been clear on its original source, and we never even detected the aura of our ancestors upon it."

As Fu Qian evaluated this, Ji Zhaoyi continued to speak with complete candor.

"As for why it possessed such properties, or even why it led to that accident years ago, we remain completely baffled to this day."

Unfortunately, after listening carefully, it was entirely devoid of substance.

Even Old Man Stoss and the others appeared faintly disappointed.

"Just how much of a chance?"

Professor Fu didn't react much, simply continuing to ask.

"Like many other items, it was acquired from the Wasteland."

Ji Zhaoyi truly did know the details, answering with almost no hesitation.

The Wasteland?

The moment that specific keyword was uttered, it instantly triggered memories, making Fu Qian recall the Involution Acceleration Firm he had once visited and the gang of robbers he had encountered there.

While the Ji clan might not have officially opened for such business all those years ago, it wouldn't be surprising if they had engaged in similar ventures.

And if those robbing gangs actually succeeded, it was perfectly normal for them to pawn off whatever loot they couldn't use.

After all, Old Man Tyr and his bunch of old-school hunters still adhered to certain rules of the trade, making it even riskier to fence goods through their channels.

All in all, if it had truly been through such a channel, there was genuinely nothing remarkable about it...

"I see. And when was this?"

His brief trip down memory lane didn't hinder the ongoing conversation in the slightest as Fu Qian continued.

"It was exactly a month and a half before she was cut."

Ji Zhaoyi glanced over at Ji Xue, remembering the time with clarity.

...

Out of the four Ji clan members present, Ji Xue was the only one looking in this direction without having said a single word.

It was hard to say whether it was because her Rank was too low or her connections were too shallow. Regardless, this student's parent maintained an incredibly quiet posture, appearing largely unresponsive to outside information.

In this regard, despite being the family head in theory, she was completely overshadowed by the person in charge.

Not only was Ji Zhaoyi conversing freely, but he had already sensed the presence of other strands of "fate" and actively steered the conversation toward them.

It was no wonder that very few people seemed eager to welcome the family head back.

A month and a half before?

Even more than that, Fu Qian was far more concerned with the timeline itself. The math was incredibly simple: factor in the time she was cut, her subsequent departure, the standard ten-month pregnancy... and the fact that Classmate Liushuang had only recently turned eighteen.

In other words, that Hand Axe had fallen into the hands of the Ji clan approximately nineteen years ago.

That was a rather familiar number—because nineteen years and just over three months ago, a possible apocalypse had taken place.

...

How did the saying go? Everything suddenly matched up.

Madam Sissi had given a highly detailed account of the specific process of the Hand Axe going missing.

She had stated that it occurred when she was still a child, long before she hit puberty.

Factoring in her current age, it felt like it shouldn't be far off from that number.

These seemingly trackless incidents were surprisingly tight in timeframe, to the point that a clear thread could easily be drawn out—

A collectible that had sat in Madam Sissi's home for quite some time was suddenly taken away one day.

Not long after it was taken, the item ended up in the hands of the Ji clan through something akin to a black market.

A mere month and a half later, Ji Xue was cut by the Hand Axe, conceiving a new bloodline capable of deciphering the prophecy and allowing the concept of the family head to continue. And all of this had likely occurred directly in the wake of that superimposed "apocalypse" from nineteen years and just over three months ago.
