Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife
Chapter 1493 - 1534: Table Manners
She remained silent, just tilted her chin up, and those dark almond-shaped eyes kept staring at him, almost like she was glaring.
Jeremiah May said nothing, and after he finished washing up, he could only pick up the little girl, hurriedly wash her a bit, then planned to return her to her mother.
However, as he passed the dining room, he happened to run into Mr. May, who was having breakfast.
Mr. May raised an eyebrow with some surprise when he saw Jeremiah holding the little girl, and the little girl was wearing clothes that Jeremiah wore as a child, "What, did this child spend the night at your place yesterday?"
Jeremiah’s face darkened slightly, and after a moment, he finally replied "hmm."
"Do you really like this little one? If you do, I can ask her mother if this little one can come to the main house frequently and stay by your side," Mr. May said.
"No need, I don’t like her," Jeremiah replied, but didn’t bother to explain that the reason he took the little one to his room last night was because he simply couldn’t let go; whenever he tried to let go, the little one seemed to be in unbearable pain.
Can’t let go?! Jeremiah suddenly froze; if he really wanted to let go, even if this little one were to suffer terribly, he could still let go, but instead he...
"Let’s have breakfast together first; this child probably hasn’t eaten yet," Mr. May said, instructing the servant to serve breakfast for Jeremiah and the little girl.
Jeremiah pressed his lips slightly, and eventually went to the dining table, then placed the little girl on the chair next to him.
The little girl sat upright, and after seeing the breakfast placed in front of her, she ate quietly. Jeremiah originally thought that a child like her with impaired intelligence would need someone to feed her.
But she didn’t need feeding at all, and she ate very... neatly. At least while she was eating, she didn’t seem like a fool at all.
The way the little girl ate also slightly surprised Mr. May; just looking at her eating posture, she seemed very well-mannered. Could a rural woman really cultivate such manners?
This child’s brain was injured, but some habits seemed to remain like conditioned reflexes, not lost due to the injury.
But what did it matter to him? Even if the child ate with impeccable manners, so what?
Mr. May chuckled and said nothing more.
After breakfast was finished, the little girl was returned to Amelia Foster, who hadn’t slept well the whole night, worried about her daughter’s situation. Once she saw her daughter, she naturally expressed immense gratitude to Jeremiah May.
Seeing that her daughter wasn’t clinging to Jeremiah as she had the night before, and seemed to have no discomfort, she breathed a sigh of relief. Though she didn’t understand what happened last night, as long as her daughter was well, that was all that mattered.
After Jeremiah left, Amelia Foster carefully asked her daughter about her night with Jeremiah.
However, the little girl’s description was somewhat unclear, repeatedly saying that the "servant sister" bathed her, then the "big brother" dried her hair, and then she fell asleep.
Amelia Foster was quite surprised that the young master actually dried her daughter’s hair, but repeatedly reminded her, "You can’t call him ’big brother,’ you must call him ’young master,’ understand?"
