Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 3049: The Deal

  • Next Chapter

The bargaining went on for quite some time, but when it finally ended, Emery had gained far more than he had originally expected.

The final agreement was simple enough.

Emery would hand over seventeen of his twenty universal clone allotments, keeping three for himself. In exchange, Ronan would add five billion spirit stones to the deal, and, most importantly, give Emery the deeper principles behind the True Clone technique as well as share his accumulated insights into the Dao of Undying.

Only after the deal was agreed upon did Emery understand why Ronan had been willing to give so much.

The Serpent Supreme was simply in an unusually good mood. He had spent the entire gathering needling two Supremes and somehow come out ahead both times.

Kaelgor had been successfully baited into a duel that Ronan had genuinely enjoyed, while the Nine Heaven Supreme had quietly accepted a redistribution that shifted two percent of the Dragon clans’ combined share toward the Zodiac and Insectoid races.

At the same time, the Dao of Undying insight Emery had requested happened to overlap heavily with the comprehension behind the True Clone technique itself.

It came in the form of two thin, scaled skins, each containing one of the Serpent Supreme’s most treasured arts.

[Undying True Clones Scripture]

[Ninefold Eternal Body Scripture]

Emery could feel the difference the moment his fingers closed around them. These were not merely instructions laid out in dense, layered script. They carried something closer to comprehension itself, containing traces of the Path of Undying that Ronan had accumulated throughout his long cultivation journey. Properly studying either scripture would not simply teach Emery the technique; it could also push his understanding of the underlying Law to a deeper level.

"You can take them," Ronan had finally said. "It’ll save me the time and trouble of teaching and explaining everything myself. Now, off you go. I have plenty of things to do."

Emery carefully stored the five billion spirit stones, the three corpses, and the two scaled skins before leaving the lair and making his way toward the facility’s administration center to claim the remaining items.

Five billion spirit stones had sounded generous, right up until Emery actually started spending them. Each dose of the Superior Gene Elixir cost three hundred million spirit stones, meaning fifty doses required a staggering fifteen billion.

Emery had no choice but to make up the remaining ten billion from the Earth faction’s reserves.

He couldn’t help letting out a quiet sigh as the transaction was finally completed.

Three universal Grand Magus clone bodies.

Three, three cosmos Grand Magus corpses.

Two cultivation scriptures personally created by a Supreme.

And fifty doses of the Superior Gene Elixir.

Emery then went to visit Master Bob for a while. Aside from talking about their families, he also asked for an update on the Superior Gene project. He wasn’t allowed to take the final formula with him, but the information he gained directly from Master Bob would still be highly beneficial to the Utopia facility.

Before leaving, Emery also left a message for the Nine Heaven Supreme, the Lord of the Mountain, informing him of his departure.

He had barely stepped away from the mountain when he noticed someone waiting for him.

Grand Magus Warwick,

He invited Emery to a feast prepared by the Wolf Clan at their enclave within the city.

Several Wolf Grand Magus were already waiting there, along with other important clan figures, all eager to meet the young Grand Magus who was quickly becoming one of the rising stars of their bloodline.

The atmosphere was warm, and everyone was extremely grateful for Emery’s role in securing the Wolf Clan’s increased share of the Superior Gene Elixir.

It was only when the feast was nearing its end, the conversation had finally settled into something quieter, that Warwick finally brought up business.

The old wolf wanted to purchase some of Emery’s newly acquired clone bodies and Superior Gene Elixir on behalf of the clan.

"Unfortunately, you’re a little late for that," Emery replied with a helpless smile. "The clones are already spoken for, and I haven’t decided about the elixir yet."

The Superior Gene Elixir was extremely difficult to acquire, and Emery was still unsure how many doses he would personally need.

Warwick didn’t seem particularly disappointed by the refusal. He simply nodded, accepted the answer without complaint, and set his cup down.

The purchase had only been one of the reasons he had come to meet Emery.

After a brief pause, the old wolf smoothly shifted the conversation toward another matter — the ritual mentioned by the White Sage.

The Wolf Ancestor Rite.

It was a ritual performed only once a millenia, one that could temporarily open a passage into a mysterious pocket realm known as the Ancestor Land. According to the oldest records of the Wolf Clan, that realm was believed to be the resting place of the ancient Wolf God itself.

The last attempt had taken place more than a thousand years ago.

At the time, dozens of selected Grand Magus had entered the Ancestor Land, yet the result had been disastrous.

Two in ten had returned.

Even so, the potential rewards were far too valuable for the clan to simply abandon the rite. The Ancestor Land was said to contain ancient bloodline materials, forgotten legacies, and rare resources capable of significantly purifying and strengthening the Wolf bloodline. For a race that had struggled to produce a Supreme for nearly half a century, obtaining such resources could potentially change the clan’s future entirely.

That was clearly why the White Sage had imposed the condition.

The Wolf Clan had been given a thirty-year window to complete the ritual and enter the Ancestor Land. If they failed to do so, the additional share of Superior Gene Elixir granted to them would be revoked. If the expedition succeeded, however, the rewards could be extraordinary. With enough bloodline resources and perhaps an ancient legacy from the Wolf God itself, the Wolf Clan might finally have a chance to produce another Supreme.

Warwick’s expression grew more serious as he looked toward Emery.

His voice became careful and deliberate when he finally spoke.

"We can’t attempt this rite without you."

The meaning behind his words was obvious. The Wolf Clan needed its strongest Grand Magus to participate, both to increase the expedition’s chances of success and to reduce the number of casualties they would inevitably suffer within the Ancestor Land.

Emery nodded. Even if Warwick had never asked him, he would have volunteered for the expedition himself.

Purifying and strengthening one’s bloodline was one of the ultimate goals of every Halfblood. For Emery, improving his Wolf bloodline would not only increase his current strength but could also improve his chances of eventually attempting the Supreme breakthrough.

There was another reason, however, that made the expedition particularly interesting to him.

Whatever legacy the ancient Wolf God had left behind, Emery couldn’t shake the feeling that it might be connected to the Star-Devouring Beast already dwelling within him.

"Of course," Emery said. "Count me in."

He left the planet the following day, cutting straight back to Neo Terra through his own waypoints.
