Chapter 2388 Patrol Squad
Chapter 2388 Patrol Squad
Emery sensed them approaching from over 50 miles away—thirty dark elves, three of whom were in the magus realm. This was supposedly a standard elven patrol squad, yet their rapid approach soon revealed why they could arrive so quickly.
“No!!… the dark elves are here!” shouted Sergeant Vorlax.
Dark shapes began to emerge in the sky, revealing wyverns— terrifying creatures bred from the elves’ homeworld. Each dark elf warrior rode atop these powerful beasts, their dark scales gleaming ominously in the desert sun, casting long shadows over the land below.
“Sir, please pull out the acolytes now,” Sergeant Vorlax urged, a hint of desperation in his voice as he looked toward Emery.
Emery remained calm, his eyes fixed on the incoming force. “Sergeant, please take your men and intercept those elves.”
“Yes, sir!” Without hesitation, Vorlax nodded, leading his small squad of five magus as they launched into the sky, their bodies streaking toward the incoming wyvern riders like arrows. Emery, however, didn’t rally the acolytes; instead, he chose to silently observe the situation from afar, masking his presence with a subtle spirit-reading ability.
“Let’s see how strong they are,” Emery muttered, watching the inevitable battle unfold.
A half-moon dark elf stood imperiously among his ranks, flanked by two crescent-moon magus, as they faced Vorlax and his team of four crescent-moon human magus.
The dark elf captain, radiating an aura of authority, didn’t even need to lift a finger; his two crescent-moon comrades, lithe and powerful, seamlessly dominated the skirmish, showcasing their prowess as they danced around the human magus with unnatural speed.
This was the stark reality of the strength disparity between human magus and their dark elf counterparts. Even with their numbers, Vorlax’s squad was outmatched. In truth, this single elven patrol could match or even overpower a full human assault squad of ten magus.
Sensing no threat from the human magus, the dark elf captain led his squad to advance toward the battlefield. As he observed the humans in combat, his lips curled into a mocking smile.
“A bunch of kids!” he scoffed, his tone dripping with contempt. “What is this!? a training camp?”
He chuckled darkly, clearly amused by what he saw as a pitiful resistance, his eyes glinting with a mix of scorn and anticipation. His squad followed, emboldened by their captain’s disdainful laughter, ready to crush what he deemed an easy target.
On the other side, Magus Sirri was visibly shaken, her usual composure replaced by a rare panic as she turned to Emery. “Instructor! Do something!”
“Of course,” Emery replied with an air of calm that contrasted sharply with Sirri’s anxiety. He glanced at Klea. “Please go help the kids.”. He added, “But don’t go too hard.”
Klea raised an eyebrow, a playful grin creeping onto her face. “No promises… I’ve been itching for a fight all day.” Their casual exchange left Magus Sirri staring, utterly speechless.
What Magus Sirri didn’t realize was that Emery had the entire scenario firmly under control. His high comprehension of the law of space granted him an unparalleled tactical advantage, allowing him to navigate the battlefield and anticipate threats with uncanny accuracy. Even if the dark elves launched a sudden attack on the acolytes, Emery had the means to intervene swiftly.
Responding to the call, Klea unleashed her spell, the incantation flowing from her lips like a whisper of the wind. A shimmering cloud enveloped her as she soared toward the battlefield, weaving through the chaos with grace. Her mastery of spirit reading masked her presence while heightening her awareness, allowing her to anticipate movements and energy signatures around her.
As she approached, the dark elf magus, perched high above their legendary wyverns, remained oblivious to her presence—at least for the moment.
The battlefield was thick with tension, but soon, heavy rain began to fall, blanketing the area in a protective mist that obscured their movements and concealed them from the watchful eyes of the dark elves.
Gradually, the mist spread, covering the sky among the hovering dark elves.
“Who is there!! Come out at once!!” the dark elf captain bellowed, his voice echoing like thunder in the turbulent skies. But instead of a reply, a cacophony erupted above. A booming thunderclap resonated through the air, followed by a fierce crackle of lightning that tore through the darkening sky. The sound was deafening, shaking the very bodies of the wyverns beneath the dark elves, throwing some of the warriors into a frantic struggle to maintain their balance. The suddenness of the storm disoriented them, a chaotic ballet of power that sent several dark elves tumbling to the ground as their mounts bucked wildly.
“Huh!! I know there is only one of you!! Now reveal yourself!!” the captain shouted again, a blend of irritation and fear creeping into his voice. He raised his hands, channeling a fiery aura that ignited around him, casting flickering shadows across the mist. He aimed to disperse the fog, to clear the field of the unseen threat he sensed lurking within it.
Yet, the mist thickened, curling and swirling as if alive, thwarting his efforts to banish it. The storm continued, lightning flashing like the wrath of the heavens.
The dark elf captain’s heart raced as he heard the screams of his men echoing amidst the thunderous roars of battle. Each cry further fueled his anger, urging him to enhance his fire aura, igniting it into a blazing inferno around him. But when he finally succeeded in enveloping the whole area in a fiery cocoon, his exhilaration quickly turned to shock.
His gaze swept across the battlefield, only to find that all of his flying squad had vanished, leaving only sight of several wyverns soaring aimlessly through the air.
Replacing his men was a female human magus, hovering effortlessly above the ground, her posture radiating confidence. “Who are you?!” he demanded, the flames around him flickering in agitation.
“Well… I am the kids’ teacher,” Klea replied.
“Huh!! You’re gonna pay for what you did to my men!”
