Earth's Greatest Magus

Chapter 2006 Magus Academy

The Nexus ship was unable to land directly at the new Magus Academy. Six cities were given access and Emery chose to park the ship on the one he was familiar with, Centauri City which lies on Alpha quadrant sector 13.

As the group stepped out onto the snowy streets of the metropolis, the four youngsters gazed in awe at the bustling surroundings, captivated by the sights and sounds of the vibrant city.

Despite the allure of exploration, Emery led the group with purpose toward the teleportation gate. “Our destination is Magus Academy,”

Upon saying their destination, they were met with rigorous security measures. Each member of the group underwent thorough checks before being granted access. Fortunately, Emery’s status as a instructor expedited their entry process, allowing them to proceed without delay.

Observing the stringent security protocols, Klea couldn’t help but express her admiration, albeit with a hint of sarcasm thanking the dark elves for making this happen.

Upon stepping through the portal, Emery was greeted by a notification:

[Welcome to Magus Academy].

The surroundings shifted as they arrived on the new planet, a picturesque landscape adorned with a blue sky and fluffy white clouds reminiscent of Earth. Ahead of them, a sprawling path led towards a colossal mountain, its peak disappearing into the heavens.

As they stepped onto the paved path, they were met by the sight of dozens of saint-level guards clad in gleaming silver armor. Before them, a sizable crowd had gathered, predominantly comprised of young individuals. A staff member’s voice cut through the air, calling out instructions:

“If you haven’t registered, please come forward and bring your acceptance letter.”

As none of the four youngsters had received their magic symbols, they were unable to understand the language spoken. Emery, sensing their confusion, accompanied them to the registration table. The staff initially showed deference upon sensing Emery’s aura, but their demeanor quickly shifted upon inspecting the letter. “Huh, another lower realm,” muttered the staff member dismissively, directing them to stand in the line.

Emery observed that this was a necessary process for all new acolytes, but disappointment still flickered across his expression. Despite the advancements in the academy’s infrastructure, he couldn’t help but feel disappointed at the persisting bias towards lower realm acolytes.

The line, though not extensive, promised a wait of at least 15 to 30 minutes before their turn would come. As each acolyte touched the prepared crystal, its color gradually shifted, revealing its elemental affinity and aptitude.

“Red, Fire Affinity, Spirit Aptitude B, 69%,” announced the attendant for the first acolyte.

“Blue, Water Affinity, Spirit Aptitude A, 81%,” came the next proclamation.

Emery nodded in surprise at the newly updated crystal, which provided more detailed information than before. The inclusion of grading brackets—from C to S—added a layer of precision to the assessment.

[C : 45 – 59%]

[B : 60 -74%]

[A : 75 -90%]

[S : 90%+]

As he waited, Emery couldn’t help but wonder about his own affinity rating, as well as Klea’s. But most intriguing was the thought of Eeshoo, the Nephilim super genius, and what remarkable numbers he might possess.

As Emery pondered, the results were being announced one by one, and each acolyte received a marking on their palm accordingly. Despite the prior knowledge of their talents, the four youngsters couldn’t help but be surprised at the abundance of A grades compared to B.

When it was finally their turn, a new group arrived, led by a proud-looking magus accompanied by more than ten youngsters. The magus, clearly in a hurry, strode confidently to the front, displaying his badge to the staff. “Ah, Assistant instructor Janus, yes, yes, we don’t want to waste your time,” the staff member acknowledged allowing the group to go next.

Seeing this blatant disregard for the line, Klea swiftly intervened. “Hey! What is this? Get in line!” she exclaimed, her voice laced with frustration.

The proud magus turned visibly irritated, though he maintained enough composure to address the staff instead of directly questioning their identity. Upon learning that they hailed from a lower realm, Emery couldn’t help but notice the slight raise of the magus’s chin, as if to assert his superiority.

“Huh, a guardian from the lower realm like you should know your place,” he sneered.

Klea, instead of reacting emotionally, calmly inquired, “And who am I speaking to?”

“Huh! I am Janus, Assistant instructor of the Inner Class, Hall 68,” he announced proudly.

Emery noticed Klea preparing to challenge him, but he intervened, urging restraint.

“We’ve just emerged here. Let’s not make trouble. It’s just another 5-10 minutes, not a big deal.”

Janus curls his lip seeing them backing off, before he finally allows his acolytes to test their aptitude one by one.

“Green, Plant Affinity, Spirit Aptitude A, 80%.”

“Yellow, Earth Affinity, Spirit Aptitude A, 84%.”

“Orange, Metal Affinity, Spirit Aptitude A, 82%.”

The magus appeared satisfied, observing multiple scores above 80%.

However, he didn’t leave and decided to linger to witness the lower realm acolytes’ performances. “Let me see how great you lower realm are,” he remarked with a hint of arrogance.

Though they didn’t fully comprehend the language, Titus, Armenius, and Ha Ron sensed the underlying tension in the air. Ashaka instructed them to remain composed and simply follow instructions, despite any provocations.

Titus, the Samaritan-born Roman and winner of the Earth Young Warrior Tournament approached the crystal confidently, his posture reflecting his self-assurance. As he touched the crystal, it glowed purple.

“Purple, Wind Affinity, Spirit Aptitude B, 73%.”

Despite knowing he had received a B, Titus couldn’t shake off a tinge of disappointment at the score. The magus, however, grinned wickedly and let out a contemptuous chuckle. “Trash!” he sneered, his words dripping with disdain.

Next in line stood Armenius, the Germania-born Roman, he was restless when he approached the crystal. However, his arm was firm when he made contact with the surface, causing it to shimmer with a gentle, icy glow.

“Cyan, Ice Affinity, Spirit Aptitude B, 74%,” announced the attendant.

Ha Ron, on the other hand, approached the crystal with an air of stoicism. His expression remained impassive as he placed his hand upon the sphere, seemingly unaffected by the process.

“Black, Darkness Affinity, Spirit Aptitude B, 72%,”

Despite Darkness element being a little more special, the magus, Janus continued to disdainfully comment with laughter “More trash! All trash!!”

In contrast, Emery found himself pleasantly surprised by the results. The aptitude scores were higher than he had anticipated, proving that these three youngsters were only a small margin away from the esteemed rank of A.

His excitement grew, especially when the next name was called, the Mayan Warrior, Kingrig.
