Chapter 517 - 323: Meeting Liu Xingyuan

’Five minutes late?’

’That would be so rude.’

After all, Liu Xingyuan was an elder, not to mention his former boss.

While the company had ruthlessly exploited its employees, there was no denying that Lin Qi had learned everything he knew about Prosthetic Engineering and Pharmacy there.

’Such were the blessings of the company!’

Instead of being late, Lin Qi planned to arrive five minutes early.

Not arriving late, or even right on the dot—this was the utmost sincerity and respect Lin Qi could show.

However, Lin Qi suddenly remembered something.

’My flying vehicle seems to have been wrecked...’

Lin Qi felt a pang of heartache. Even though that luxury flying vehicle, the Mische-U107-Ultra, was a knockoff, it had still cost him over a million Credit Points.

’The main goal might have been to launder dirty Credit Points, but the expenditure was real.’

’I only drove it a few times. I hadn’t even gotten the hang of it yet.’

The more Lin Qi thought about it, the more his heart ached. He could only console himself, ’Oh well, a single S-Class Potion could buy hundreds of them.’

He glanced at his arms. The weapon bays of his Prosthetic Body were stuffed with Potions worth hundreds of millions of Credit Points.

What gave Lin Qi a headache, however, was that he had spent nearly all his available funds laundering that previous sum of dirty Credit Points.

Lin Qi still had plenty of Credit Points that could be used on the Black Market, but to launder them again...

Lin Qi shook his head. ’I can’t do something that stupid.’

’I still have to find a way to get a flying vehicle. Otherwise, getting around Red Fruit City will be a real hassle.’

After a moment of thought, Lin Qi contacted the Leisure Transfer Consumer Goods Company.

The call connected in less than a second.

Lin Qi was a premium member of the Leisure Transfer Consumer Goods Company, with a transaction history totaling millions of Credit Points.

"Hello, Mr. Lin Qi. How can I help you?"

Lin Qi cleared his throat and said, "I sold a flying vehicle to your company a few days ago. Could you please check if it has been sold yet?"

"Of course, sir. I’m looking it up now." The customer service representative was quite professional, finishing the search in just a few seconds. "Mr. Lin Qi, I’ve found it. Due to the age of the model, it hasn’t been sold yet."

Lin Qi decided instantly. "I want to buy it back. How many Credit Points?"

The representative seemed to freeze for a moment. He looked at Lin Qi’s customer profile in disbelief.

’This is a premium client!’

’A man who doesn’t even blink at transactions worth millions of Credit Points!’

’Buying back an old vehicle?’

’And one he just sold, at that?’

Out of professionalism, he suppressed his surprise and replied to Lin Qi, "The company’s current price is 9,000 Credit Points. Since you’re a premium member, we can give you a 10% discount, bringing the total to 8,100 Credit Points. How does that sound?"

Lin Qi’s heart ached even more.

’He’d only sold it for 7,000 Credit Points. This whole transaction was a net loss of a full 1,100 Credit Points!’

’You can’t be this wasteful, even if you’re rich!’

’Besides, on paper, I’m still broke as hell...’

But Lin Qi couldn’t bring himself to spend the money on a better vehicle, even a used one.

After all, given his humble origins, Lin Qi couldn’t treat Credit Points as just cold, hard numbers.

Gritting his teeth, he said, "I’ll take it. Deliver it to me. I’ll send you the address. I need it delivered now."

The representative responded immediately, "Of course, Mr. Lin Qi. However, expedited delivery requires an additional fee of 1,000 Credit Points, for a total of 9,100 Credit Points. We estimate it will be delivered before two in the afternoon."

’Another 1,000 Credit Points down the drain!’

But Lin Qi had no choice but to accept. After all, he didn’t have many clean Credit Points on him right now.

’I can’t go asking Dad for Credit Points again, can I?’

’That would be too pathetic.’

He gritted his teeth again and confirmed the payment.

Lin Qi—an S-Class Pharmaceutical Researcher, a Tier Three Extraordinary, a director at United Pharmaceutical (a company with massive corporate potential), and the first-in-line heir to the most popular underground Prosthetic Clinic in Red Fruit City—now had an account balance of only three digits!

Staring at the number, Lin Qi flopped down, completely drained.

’I hope the company starts turning a profit soon so I can get my dividends.’

...

At two in the afternoon, Lin Qi went to the entrance of the Prosthetic Clinic to welcome back his old friend.

Sitting in the familiar driver’s seat, Lin Qi was filled with a mix of emotions.

’After all that, this junker of a vehicle was back in his hands. If he’d known this would happen, he never would have sold it in the first place.’

’Then again,’ he thought, ’if I hadn’t sold it, it probably would’ve been crushed into scrap metal right along with the new one.’

Sighing, Lin Qi looked around the vehicle’s interior and opened its storage compartment.

A familiar item appeared before his eyes.

An Advanced Language Application Chip!

What a pleasant surprise!

’The turnover time was probably too short and the chip’s value too low,’ he mused. ’The recycling company must not have bothered to clean out the vehicle, planning to just sell it as-is.’

’This chip is worth almost three thousand Credit Points. In that case, did I actually make a profit of 900 Credit Points on this deal?’

Lin Qi was just trying to console himself again.

Unfortunately, Lin Xin had already returned to the Eastern Alliance, so the chip wasn’t of much use for the time being.

All he could do was put it back in the vehicle’s storage compartment.

He glanced at the time. He had already been sitting in the vehicle reminiscing for over ten minutes. It was time to head to the company’s new location.

The new site was in the H3 Skyscraper—the same place Baili Xueyuan had been during yesterday’s battle.

Not needing navigation, Lin Qi piloted the vehicle along a familiar route.

He had originally planned to arrive five minutes early, but perhaps because he was more comfortable piloting the old vehicle, Lin Qi reached the base of the H3 Skyscraper at 2:50.
