Chapter 1096:- Morning Surprise

Chapter 1096:- Morning Surprise

Finally, the day of the Grand Ceremony had arrived.

The official ceremony was scheduled to begin in the afternoon, but the entire Night Rider Sect had already become busy long before sunrise. By early morning, almost every preparation had been completed. Servants, disciples, guards, and officials moved throughout the sect, making final checks and ensuring that everything was ready for the arrival of the distinguished guests.

One of the busiest places within the sect was the enormous kitchen complex that had been specially prepared for the event. Close to a thousand people were working there.

However, not all of them were chefs.

Only a small group of highly experienced master chefs were responsible for the actual cooking and final preparation of the dishes. The rest served as assistants who handled tasks such as cleaning ingredients, cutting vegetables, preparing meat, transporting supplies, washing utensils, managing storage, and helping maintain the flow of the kitchen.

Every ingredient had already been carefully inspected days in advance. Rare magic animal meat, expensive spices, spirit herbs, magical fruits, and countless other luxury ingredients were stacked inside storage rooms.

The main chefs personally supervised every important dish.

Tasks such as seasoning, balancing flavours, preparing sauces, and adding rare spices were never left to ordinary assistants. Each meal served during the ceremony represented the reputation of the Night Rider Sect. A single mistake could embarrass the sect in front of thousands of influential guests.

The scale of the preparations was enormous.

The Night Rider Sect itself had nearly ten thousand disciples, while the expected number of guests was estimated to be several thousand more. By the sect’s calculations, enough food was being prepared to serve almost twenty thousand people. Hundreds of large cooking stations operated simultaneously while countless assistants moved back and forth carrying ingredients and completed dishes.

The cost of the ingredients alone was staggering. Nearly half of the entire ceremony’s budget had been spent on ingredients. Rare magic animals had been specially hunted. Expensive wines had been purchased. Precious herbs and fruits had been gathered from across the region. The amount of wealth consumed by the banquet alone was enough to support an ordinary city for years.

Even then, the sect considered it money well spent.

After all, this ceremony marked Victor’s official ascension as the new Sect Leader. The Night Rider Sect wanted every guest to remember this day for the rest of their lives. Any food that remained after the celebrations would later be distributed among the common people and the poor living within the sect’s territory, further increasing the sect’s reputation and prestige among the population.

Scene Change______

Victor woke up for a peaceful sleep. This was one of the most peaceful sleeps he had in the last few years. After the death of his brother, the thought of revenge haunted his mind so much so that he could not even sleep in peace. Every time he closed his eyes, he would see the corpse of his brother or Aditya killing his brother.

After waking up, Victor lazily walked out of his house and looked at the other mountain peaks. He was in a really good mood today.

If there was any regret or anything that he felt would be missing from this ceremony, that would be the lack of his nemesis, Aditya. As crazy as it sounded, Victor wanted Aditya to be here. He wanted Aditya to see him ascend to the throne of the Night Rider Sect.

He was sure that the expression that Aditya would have watching him climb those little stairs and sit on the throne would be something worth remembering for his entire life.

Victor then took a long shower and put on the most expensive and elegant outfit he had specially prepared for this occasion. Since this was the day he would officially become the Sect Leader, he wanted to ensure that every eye remained on him. Normally, he paid little attention to such matters. Strength was what truly mattered in the cultivation world. However, today was different. His appearance would represent not only himself but also the authority and prestige of the entire Night Rider Sect.

The outfit he chose was a luxurious set of traditional robes woven from high-grade spirit silk. The inner layer was pure white, while the outer robe consisted of several flowing layers of pale blue and silver fabric. Delicate silver embroidery covered the sleeves, shoulders, and lower portions of the robe, forming elegant patterns that resembled clouds, rivers, and flowing spiritual energy. Whenever he moved, the layers of fabric shifted naturally, giving the impression of drifting mist surrounding his body.

The robes were both graceful and imposing. They had been designed specifically for important ceremonies rather than combat, placing greater emphasis on elegance and status. Fine silver threads had been woven throughout the fabric, causing the robes to subtly shimmer whenever light touched them.

The overall appearance was noble, refined, and befitting the leader of one of the most powerful cultivation sects on the continent.

Just as Victor stepped out of the courtyard, his student Lin ran up to him. Strangely, instead of having a happy smile, she appeared anxious as if something bad had happened.

"What is it, Lin?"

"Master, four cities near our Sect have been attacked." Hearing this, Victor frowned. Even the members of the Organisation were to secretly attend this event under different identities and names. Victor really doubted that anyone would cause trouble on this day. But the thing that he feared the least had actually happened.

"Tell me, exactly what happened."

"In Yellowspring City, the main runes of the Defensive Barrier that covered the entire city were destroyed in a small explosion. Then, a mysterious, powerful 7th-order took out the most powerful soldiers in the city. It was like this figure already knew the positions of the most powerful figures in the city and managed to take them out within 200 seconds." Hearing this, Victor immediately thought that it must have been either Boris or Harrington or maybe both, responsible for this.

"The Mansion of the City Lord blew up in a Massive explosion. Close to a thousand people who lived within the Mansion and around the Mansion instantly died. What was left was a massive crater at the centre of the city." For some reason, this sounded very familiar.

Victor immediately guessed who was behind this.

’Aditya!!!’ His expression darkened, and killing intent began leaking out of his body.

"In the end, all the walls and many public infrastructures were destroyed in multiple explosions."

"Iriomote and Hoshigaoka, both cities, also suffered the same fate. Except that the number of casualties in those two cities is way higher. Close to 15,000 people died in each city." The more Victor heard, the angrier he became.

"All three cities have suffered heavy damage."

"The last city that is close to our Sect is the City that the Wind Dragon Clan governs. I suspect that city is the next target."

Hearing this, Victor became silent. Normally, he would personally love to go and fight whoever was responsible for this. But now, he was a Sect Leader. And leaving the Sect in such a critical time would be a huge mistake.

"Did anyone see the faces of the 7th-order cultivators?"

Lin shook her head. "All I know is that it was a man and a single man. Using teleportation arrays, he rapidly moved from one city to another."

’This means, it’s either Boris or Harrington.’ Victor quickly understood the situation after receiving the latest reports. The Harrington Family currently possessed two 7th-order powerhouses. If one of them had personally moved to deal with the attacks taking place throughout the territory, then the other would naturally remain behind in Axel City.

After all, someone had to stay back and ensure the safety of the city. More importantly, someone had to remain behind to protect the Harrington Family itself. Given the current circumstances, leaving the capital completely undefended would be foolish.

He did not consider Commander Vardy of the Harrington family as a true powerhouse. That’s why he wasn’t even in his consideration.

At the same time, Victor noticed something else. Aditya’s name had not appeared in a single report. No witnesses had seen him. No scouts had reported his presence before this event. Thinking about it, this was completely normal.

Victor had personally witnessed the extent of Aditya’s injuries during their previous battle. He had lost a leg and suffered devastating injuries to both arms. Even with the Harrington Family’s vast resources and access to powerful healers, recovering from such wounds would take time. At this moment, Aditya should still be resting somewhere inside Axel City while focusing on his recovery. The possibility of his personally participating in any operation was practically nonexistent.

The more Victor thought about it, the more convinced he became that this was the most likely explanation. One of the Harrington Family’s 7th-order powerhouses had moved to handle the crisis, while the other remained behind to guard the city, Aditya, and the rest of the Harrington Family. It was the safest and most logical course of action they could take under the current circumstances.

"Have three Elders go and deal with this as soon as possible. On such a grand day, I don’t want any more casualties." No matter how powerful he was, in Night Rider Sect territory, with three elders, Boris or Malakor Harrington won’t have an easy time.

He and one more Elder would remain for the safety of the Sect.

"Also, activate the highest level defensive system of the Sect. Have someone notify every Sect Student that the Sect is under attack and prepare themselves for battle."
